I've heard the 11 games story so many times that late in my life, in a senior home when I am on my final brain cell, "baker went on a 11 game streak and was the 4th best quarterback in those 11 games" is all I will be able to say until I finally die
Spot on Shannon. They do the same thing with Trevor Lawrence and every single #1 overall pick.. it’s always the organization/coach/other players fault never theirs
Skip loves using the 11 games from last year. He loves using old stats to make a point for today. He did the same thing with Tebow. Every argument he would bring up that Tebow threw for 316 yards in a playoff game against the Steelers. 🤦🏾♂️
That’s exactly why the team had success. They played perfect AFC North football. Run hard, play good defense and win in the trenches. They didn’t win because of Baker
So basically Skip Bayless his argument is hey he's still better than Sam darnold so he's not a bust Sam darnold is utterly horrible so that's not a good comparison to be better then tbh
Skip Bayless: Baker Mayfield will be a franchise QB for the browns and 3 other franchises Shanon Sharpe: Baker Mayfield will be the owner of a fast-food franchise that's about it
Atleast Shannon knows the hard work it takes to get drafted in a professional league, and what most athletes have to overcome, then to call somebody a Bust. It seems like it comes out so easy for the ones who never came close to putting on a pro jersey in any sport. Stephen. A Smith
He should’ve got surgery wayyyy earlier in the season so he could’ve already Been rehabbing. It’s not like him vs case keenum is that much of a drop off
Skip is so delusional on defending baker mayfield he said “he beat the Texans who have been really good this year they cause a lot of people problems” LMAO
If I'm not mistaken Baker Mayfield shoulder was fine in 2018 an 2019! 2019 he had one less interception then touchdowns and he had about 20 something touchdowns which means he had about 20 something interceptions Same thing in 2018 had about 20 touchdowns an about 16 or 17 interceptions he had one good year last year which is fool's gold You can't ignore the large sample size for one stretch of 11 games
Well said. As a Steelers fan and life long Pittsburgh resident, wee hope Baker stays w the Browns! Because that means they'll remain TERRIBLE! Yes they beat us last year in the playoffs, but we turned the ball over 6x in the game and 5x In the 1st half. Ben still hung over 500 yds passing on them
His shoulder was also fine when they played the Chiefs in the Divisional round of the playoffs...when Pat Mahomes got knocked out of the game and Baker couldn't outplay the Chiefs backup QB to win that playoff game🤣
@@kidlightning1736 LMAO Baker played well that game try again.must not remember the helmet to helmet hit against Peoples on a dime from Baker. Mahomes only missed 2 drives. Stop talking out your a**. Henne didn't score a point.
Skip Bayless can never just stick to present time he always has to bring up last year, like bro just admit it he’s having a bad year this year the question is not about last year😂😂😂😂😂
Just as a side note I’m glad that OBJ is doing well with the Rams. Not taking a shot at Baker, I’m just glad OBJ has had success especially after seeing the way AB acted. 🙌🙌
@@redwinstead7873: I'm not black and I'm saying facts. Jerry Rice once said you are as good as your last game. You have to prove yourself year in and year out.
Skip knows damn well Baker is going to continue to get more opportunities in the NFL based on things that have nothing to do with his play on the field. But he knows Shannon doesn’t want to go down that road on air if he doesn’t have to, so he keeps pushing it to make it seem like he’s winning the argument. Shannon has provided more than enough evidence otherwise why Baker just ain’t it
Baker Mayfield is like the new Tim tebow to Skip Bayless ! always talking about a short period of game stretchs as the end-all be-all and ignoring everything else outside of it!
I think Baker has been in a better situation all career than Darnold has been at both teams. I think a Darnold led Brown’s would have been better than a Baker led Browns
I wonder what the excuse is going to be next year after it's a full season of OBJ being gone and Cleveland and Baker Mayfield continue the go the same route is it still going to be Odell Beckham Juniors fault even a year later after he's been gone and they get a fresh start with a fresh training camp
If I'm a Browns player or fan, I feel absolutely robbed by a Selfish Baker Mayfield who played hurt for next years contract, and the Brown's management for pushing it.
@@James-yf7vy to be fair to the Steelers front office, Mason and Haskins ain't it. If you guys had Keenum, Huntley, or Minshew as a backup... maybe I'd bench Ben. Ben is selling merchandise for you guys like crazy. You atleast have the farewell tour.
Yall remember when people criticized TO for playing in the SUPER BOWL for a broken leg, but I haven't heard anyone criticize Baker for playing with a broken shoulder that hindered his team..
Skip keeps trying to get Shannon to say he’s trash. Shannon never said that, he’s just saying that instead of looking at just his rookie season and 11 games last year to say he’s great like Skip, he’s taking that along with his ENTIRE career and just saying he’s average, not trash but average. Just because your not great doesn’t mean your bad.
As a Browns fan, Baker being injured was probably the worst thing that could have happened. Watching the team was so frustrating, cuz i have no idea how much of Bakers problems were him bring too hurt to play, and how much of it was Baker just not being good. Had the season played out exactly the same, but Baker was never injured, it would be better cuz then we’d at least know Baker is the problem, but as of now, we’re got no clue. So infuriating man.
Someone else just mentioned it, Skip is always “knocking on wood” for the players he doesn’t like, or is about to speak negatively on. He doesn’t do that with TB12, Baker, KD, etc….his faves.
At this point, I just completely fast forward through everything skip says on this topic. He’s collected a few cherry picked stats and just repeats it over and over. Professional analyst? He lies worse than a politician
It’s funny how Skip constantly talks about those 11 games in ‘20 but if I’m not mistaken Baker has the same group this year when the Browns cut OBJ and they’re eliminated from the playoffs
Pittsburgh rested there starters for us to even get in last year, and then they gave us the ball 73 times in the first 5 minutes and then Baker was outplayed by Chad Henne in the second half of the chiefs game. He’s gone, stefanski and berry don’t like him, they didn’t draft him, they’ll trade for Cousins, Ryan, or bring back Cribbs to run wildcat lmao
Everyone talks like his 2020 was the greatest performance of all time. During that stretch he had 4 games with no tds, including 3 in a row. He didn't turn the ball over, but he wasn't out there putting the team on his back. I'll give him the comeback vs the 1-4-1 Bengals sure. But film doesn't like. Baker is great in play action (who isnt in the NFL) from the pocket is nightmare. 2019 and 2021 teams saw what he liked to do and said okay no more off script throws from outside the pocket, we will disguise coverages and see if you can beat us by playing within structure. He cant due to limitations. Stefanski even tried to help by running more spread concepts to help with presnap reads, still didnt work.
