I saw a DNA study that compared English DNA to the homeland, and it found that in many parts of the English Midlands, DNA was or was almost indistinguishable from that of samples in Friesland. Many place names in England come not just from the original Celtic Britons, or the Angles and Saxons, but also Frisian.

What's really impressive is it's so similar that it's actually mutually intelligible in written form (not completely, but enough to understand without the translation). Spoken form, not so much. I imagine Spanish and Portuguese are like that as well as Swedish and Norwegian.

Wouldn’t necessarily consider it all “crap”. Rising sea levels displaced the Jutes, Ængles, Saxons, Danes, and Frisians from their littoral ancestral lands. While the venerable Bede briefly states that the Ængles and Saxons gave their names to the people of their realms, there exists reason to believe that a diverse array of Germanic tribes migrated to Britain. Prior to the Roman withdrawal from Britain, Frankish, Batavian, Rugiian, Frisian and Saxon Foederati were known to have settled sporadically along both shores of English Channel, then known as the “Litus Saxonicum”. By this point in history, Frisia served as a major staging point for migrating Germanic tribes. Old English literature (particularly the Finnsburh Fragment, Widsith, and Beowulf) mentions the slaying of the Frisian king Finn, son of Folcwald, by Hengest, one of the legendary Jutes who went on to establish the Kingdom of Kent. Moreover, King Alfred’s translation of Bede’s text emphasizes a distinction between Jutes and Geats. It had been centuries since a Jutish state existed on the peninsula whence they came, and it is highly unlikely that Alfred confused them. It remains likely that warfare between the Svear and the Geatish Kingdoms in present-day Sweden triggered a migration in the sixth century. The similarities between English and Frisian are often made on linguistic grounds. English shares numerous grammatical and phonological similarities with Frisian and, to a certain degree, the neighboring Saxon spoken in Northwestern Germany, in addition to Danish. However, it is important to note that mutual intelligibility between the Ingvaeonic Germanic languages was closer centuries ago than it is now, hence the discrepancies we see at present.

Pretty sure people say they’re similar to us because our two languages split from the same branch (or atleast split more recently than for example English and German)

as a proper Anglo-Saxon you seem to have a poor understanding of how to speak English.
