Wow, wish I saw this sooner. Just discovered Pete’s basses today and I am in love. I actually like about 2 hours from his shop, and after years of wanting to upgrade my Warwick for an Alembic, or MTD with wider spacing on a 5 string, I am blown away with what I am seeing with his craftsmanship and level to detail. He shares much more detail about his methodology than Ken Smith, Elrich, or Alembic. I think I found my forever bass. Now just need to sell off some gear and come up with $$ for one.

Sounds super trebely. Great for some flashy licks on a RU-vid channel, not suitable for actual bass work.

Helps it cut through in a mix. Plus with the onboard EQ, I can make it as wooly as needed. I use this thing every weekend for gigs ranging from pit orchestras to bebop to top 40 and rock, in addition to the solo bass I'm sure you're referencing, and I've never had a complaint. See some of the other vids on my page (especially the ones with Big Spoon), or head to @bigspoonband 's page, and you'll hear how it slots in the mix. Thanks for watching!

Ben this is an absolutely fantastic and thorough review. Pete is nothing short of a genius and we as bassists are blessed by him. I do have a question for you. Would you be able to upload a quick video of you doing some slap riffs and maybe just hitting up 1 or 2 major tones. For ex: mid cut/Bass & Treb boost and then everything flat and maybe a bass and mid boost. I know you did do a tiny bit of slapping in this video but I wanted to see how the tones and ramp worked with it. One more thing. Do you find that the ramp gets in the way of slapping? For example if you were playing predominantly Gospel would you have still got the ramp? Thank you once again for the videos and for an amazing review.

Hi there- I'll do up something a little basic this evening and share the link with you. I don't have my recording setup hooked up right, so it'll be iPhone quality, but it should give you an idea. As for the ramp- with the little bit of slapping I do, I've had no troubles. Just gotta stay in that sweet spot between the ramp and the neck.

I literally just got this alert. I watched the video and posted on there. But I'll say it again here. Thank you so much Ben. That was so nice of you to do it and that fast too. :)
