I own a Yaris Mk2, 2006 1.0 litre 3-cylinder. When I look at the interiors of these 3 cars, I see nothing that would entice me to any of them. Plus, in my car, I can slide the rear seat backwards and forwards to give more leg room, or more bootspace. Given that there is a 12 year difference in age between my car and these....., I'm a bit pushed to see what these offer to me in, practical, daily use terms, that represents an advance over my , now quite old, car. In particular, as you say, the dashboard area of the Yaris here just seems an absolute mess. The other two are far from from inspiring, but the Yaris is the worst.

Of course he is going to choose Skoda and seat over Toyota, they are German. The Yaris might not be as good to drive and the interior isn’t as good as its rivals but I guarantee that it will be still running much longer than the other two, including manufactures like Ford, Peugeot and Citroen. I would rather a reliable car that doesn’t look overly too much instead of a car that drives well and looks well but it breaks down. The Yaris is still a good car despite its dull cabin, cheap plastics and small boot.

Pfff. No competition. The Toyota gets the instant win because you can get it as a hybrid. At this point in history anything other than a hybrid or full electric car seems like something from the stone age...... And buying a car with a Diesel engine would be the worst decision of them all, can't be much longer until Diesel engines are completely banned from the streets.

Hybrid technics in a small car? The most useless thing. I need only 4 to 6 liters in my 1.5 TSI Ibiza. And I always have the torque that I need. Even a Diesel is more useful in a small car as you can extend your range and save money if you often drive longer distances. Hybrid is only a compromise. And this compromise is only good for someone, who can't use a real electric car (BEV). Speaking for a small car, a usual combustion engine without heavy battery and electric motor can do it very well. And Diesel... Well, I'm not a Diesel fan. But it has some good points to save fuel and it can be clean in some way (SCR catalyst and other). It would be very stupid to blame all Diesel.

Barbarus Bloodshed - I’m thinking the hybrid is a waste to a degree because it adds a massive amount of weight. The Yaris is 1160kg whilst the newest Suzuki Swift 1.2 is just 890kg. A 270kg difference is absolutely massive in small cars!
@barbarusbloodshed6347
@barbarusbloodshed6347 5 лет назад
@@mr8I7 yes, that is a massive difference, seems though as if you're still saving fuel this way as long as you're driving around within the city. If we are talking country roads the standard petrol engine is the best option at this moment. BUT (and this goes to all the people here) just because there are still some issues with the hybrid technology doesn't mean that it's not the way to go. These issues can and will be solved. And when did we ever come up with a new technology that was promising and went "Right, but let's not do this, because it still has some issues, completely abandon this new technology and instead keep using the old one!" That's complete nonsense. Especially if that old technology is polluting the air you breath. There are also new batteries on the market now that are lighter and can store much more energy. And there are companies that are working on batteries that are again much lighter and can store more energy. Basically within the next few years we will have batteries with a much greater capacity and much lower weight. Soooo.... where's the point in not building hybrids? And I am a "car person"... I'm a designer. Of course I love cars. I like a beautiful car, and I like fast cars... But fast and beautiful doesn't have to mean bad for the environment. The Tesla Model S is quite beautiful and extremely fast... and if we produce more electric energy from renewable sources electric cars are the most environment-friendly kind of car we could have. It's all about realism. Is it realistic that Diesel engines will stay relevant? Nope. Pretty sure they will be banned within the next ten years because the public doesn't like them. And that's why it's stupid to buy a Diesel. And is it realistic that we will keep driving cars with petrol engines? Nope. We HAVE to use something else. It's not like we have a choice on this. So why would I go and buy something with an oldschool petrol engine and make it look like I'm an idiot who doesn't get that? Things move forward, with or without me... the only choice I have is whether or not I wanna be part of that change. Those are the reasons why it makes no sense still putting reviews of cars on YT that are not electric or at least hybrids. They won't be relevant in the future, and that future might be in a few years.

Actually I would say that reliability of any car is not just a matter of car brand but actually a lot of factors like driving habits, service quality, and most importantly, luck. Something as simple as luck may determine if your car will last 18 years or if it breaks right after your warranty ends.

Gf has a 2018 ibiza. If you can get along with DSG, it's a great car. Nippy, functional, quite spacious in the back, has all the bells and whistles, looks ok. I despise DSG with a passion though. It has a mind of its own and it pulls some weird shit sometimes. I really, really hate that. If you're looking into buying a car with DSG, consider renting it for a week or two. Seriously, it's that bad (for me) and you really gotta be sure if you want that. I drove a passat, golf, ibiza (duh) and it's not just the ibiza. The shifts are smooth no complaints there but same amount of gas/brake yield different results each time with the cars! Sometimes it pounces forward, sometimes it doesnt. Same applies for reverse. Sometimes you brake just a little and the car brakes itself twice as hard, stopping you abrubtly. Oh and the lane keep assist will try to kill you.
