A lovely sweet little engine that is basically from the original Golf GTI. Not what I expected from an 8v it's actually quite peaky. Has a variable length intake runner which is what helps it feel so responsive. The 115BHP 16v FSI would only give that extra 10 horses on high octane fuel anyways, waste of money.
Well this engine isn't something impressive but it's good enough for everyday car. I have the 115hp 16v FSI engine in Golf V (you can check acceleration video in my channel) and couldn't say it's at waste of money. Yes, the maintenance it's a little bit more expensive but the car feels more dynamic, better fuel consumption (way better), better acceleration especially after 100 km/h. As a petrol fan I prefer both 1.6 engines than 1.9tdi
@@viktorivanov1478 FSIs suffer from terrible carbon build up if they don't stratisfy when running lower octane fuels because the petrol won't coat some parts of the combustion chamber. It's why a lot of modern direct injection engines also have port injection. 115bhp isn't a lot in such a heavy car, but in an Audi A2 it's insane😂
@@psions555 I'm agree with you - the construction of FSI engines is much more complicated and aren't so reliable as the older multi point injection ones but I own 2 of them (1.6 and 2.0) and tbh I'm satisfied. The A2 is lighter over 200kg than Golf 5 and Octavia so it should be running faster aswell.
how stable is the car on the road compared to a golf 4 for example? and what is the level of silence compared to a golf 4? both having the same engine,1.6 gasoline.
I had them both and to be honest the difference isn't so big. Yes, octavia is a little bit more stable, silent and faster but it's a pretty much more comfortable. Compared to vw passat b6 the difference is really noticeable. I would say that golf 5 and octavia 2 are equal in every aspect, except the trunk and rear seats space.
