Thank you Artym, for your comment. It is a wonderful car. They have very nice high end trim levels too. My friend in the uk (RU-vid channel @carspytv) has a mk2 Skoda Octavia. It is very luxurious, leather seats wood trim. Have a good week, thank you :)

I had a MK3 Octavia new back in 2015 but mine was an estate. It was the VRS with the diesel engine and I added a few options including privacy glass, tow bar, canton audio and Leather upholstery. It felt very much more a family GT that hot estate but that was no bad thing. I didn't bother with the black styling pack which I know is a popular option or the larger 19" wheels which were in the demo car, I didn't like how the car drove in those but the 18" wheels though firm were not uncomfortable. I really liked some of the simply clever items such as ice scraper in the fuel filler, parking ticket holder and baggage hooks in the boot. I did feel that the VRS added that bit of sparkle and suspected that lesser models may have felt a little uninspiring by comparison (I actually traded the car for a Fiat 500 TwinAir 105 which was way more fun than the VRS). The SEL and L&K trim levels look very classy but can be pricey. Good informative video. Oh and I also like the fact the car still has a proper hand break.

Hello Mark. Good to see your message. Oh very nice, I love estates, and being a VRS really does make it more special. The spec of your one, really does sound nice. It’s amazing how many clever extras the Octavia has. My friend, who has this Mk3, has a friend with a mk3 supurb, and if all goes well, I can film it. I love the clever boot/hatch design and the umbrellas in the door. Very clever Wow, a big difference between a Vrs and a Fiat. Both are great cars. I was hoping to film my friends abarth Esseesse, with pearlescent white paint, red leather, but the world has put that on hold, for a while. Lol Cheers, take care. @@mattsbeamer I considered a Suoerb and a Volvo V60 at the time but the then new Superb was in show rooms but no demo was available and the Volvo though nice I couldn't justify the premium over the Skoda. My Friend has the Kodiak SEL and seems to like it. Yeh the Fiat was very different but saved me a lot of money and was loads more fun in truth. Mine was the 105 hp 6 speed TwinAir so not at all common and in many ways instill miss that car. The New Renault is very different to the Fiat but I knew if I tried to replace it with something similar I'd always be drawing comparisons. It's a good family car but my heart still belongs to my original 26 year old version.

@@markonmotoring to be honest, I have no idea if I see many suburbs about, because I know they are quite similar to the Octavia, unless you pay attention. The v60 is a lovely car, my friend had the saloon S60 and he misses it. He had to trade it in and buy a Big Kia Sorrento Prime. I did film that a while back, but it got hardly any attention. Lol I agree, I wouldn’t be able to justify having a v60 over a suburb, they are great cars, but then again, so is the Suburb. I haven’t had the chance to spend any time with the Kodiak, but I really must look into it.

@@markonmotoring As for replacing the Fiat, that must of been a tough decision. What rivals do you like? I have always like the higher specced meganne, and your yellow one, is a wonderful car. I liked them with the yellow and blue livery

@@mattsbeamer I had hoped to keep the Fiat for a very long time as it was a specification that had a short production run and was pretty rare due to the fact they cost similar money to an entry level Abarth when new. I suspected the Duel Mass fly wheel was failing but struggled to get a garage to help and with garages all being busy and parts availability being problematic nobody wanted to take the job on. As fun as an Abarth may be I didn't want one, someone I know who has the 180hp.Abarth Comp wants to go back to the TwinAir as it's more fun. The yellow and blue livery you mention was used on the Maxi Mégane coupe rally cars and Laguna touring cars in the mid/late 90's.

i really loved the facelift 2017 version compared to that one so I got one. Many people say they like non facelift version more but with full led lights 2017 looks amazing to me. Nice video tho, liked

What's people's opinion of the 1.0 engine in the Octavia? Is it a wet belt design like Ford's Ecoboost?

Is it adviseable to use the DSG transmission version of the octavia for taxi

Hey, the manuals are a lot simpler than the DSG, so cheaper to maintain and more reliable (in my. Opinion). But, saying that, I’d still chose the DSG If I was in a busy city, and a manual if I lived in a rural area. :)

Great in depth tour. Nice to see heating controls & a handbrake, great glove box, very well equipped for a base model. I do prefer the mk3 styling to the mk4, mk 4 grille looks like a cheap copy of BMW. I have a company car 2023 Octavia 2.0 td SEL dsg estate, a bit too techy for me, but proving to be a comfortable rep mobile.

Hey, thanks for your comment. I’m glad that others share the same opinion. It’s a shame when some features are lost, just to keep up with others. I think the mk4 is a quite good-looking, but then again, I’m a BMW fanboy. Your new rep mobile sounds lovely, especially having an estate. I think I’d pick it over a VW, these days :)
