It's so satisfying watching each one finally accumulate enough power to propel across the road after trying so hard, they look like little rockets doing it
I watched part one, something I've never seen before, although I know salmon are warriors, battling to get back to the stream where the eggs were laid, fertilsed and then hatched, hanging around a couple of years, before swimming down to the ocean until they return as adults to exactly the same river system and onward and upward to their very own stream, and all by smell they say, I reckon star maps come in to it's somewhere too in my opinion. If I saw this in person, it'd be nearly impossible to drag me away, I could watch it all day, it's so satisfying and relaxing.
I am sure Jim meant it as a joke - Canadian way of expressing irony, when I read this years ago. Nowadays the new AI is primative, lacking human's "sense of humor." Yet, now new East Indian immigrants are catching mating salmons and taking them home.
Also Suzuki went to India for factories, Apple went to India for factories. I even see daily ads on English grammar AI, which I don't need it. English is not black and white. The English proficiency with the current AI we have is getting lower.
Unrelated to this video but I love the diversity of languages in this comment sections :) Also salmon are my favorite fish now. Not only are they badass survivalists but tasty too.
You'd regret it; Chum salmon are shit for eating as it is, and even worse when they've been in the river for any amount of time like the ones in the video.
You get in a lot of trouble lol They take it very seriously here. I think after they spawn people should be allowed to grab one or two for the smoker. Most just rot. And while I'm a lover of nature and have a good understanding of why they are left to rot, I still feel that people come first. Plus, next to noone wants them when they are that beat up anyway.
fred blogs it happens in the fall on the skokomish river in Washington. It floods and flows into the feilds by the river. These chum salmon get lost and swim upstream
This is so cool! I've never seen this before! You would think they would somehow fix this it's crazy haha. This is one of the coolest videos I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing!
I live in a nearby town and even with the new bridge it is still dangerous during flooding season. We have to drive over the river and the nearby creek to get to Walmart.
fish thinking “damn I wish i had legs” Human council meeting “ we need a special budget items: 1) a fish crossing sign...and 2) trucks scraper...with fishing nets”
my faveorite time of the year the great crossing of the Skokomish salmon was so excited to ehar this the first time on kmas 1030 news back in the day when they played music it was fall of 92 when I heard this very fun to watch too the skok bridge is around the bend it just when the rains get very heavy and floods the banks especially borgault road they do the crossing.
Is this state route 106? If not, what road is this? Not sure why the state of Washington or the county doesn’t create a bridge or other means for the road to be safer for drivers and the salmon
The Skokomish is the most flood-prone river in Washington State, as it is the first river to flood during any major rain event. The combination of increased sediment load due to extensive clearcut logging, the reduced sediment carrying capacity due to the damming of the North Fork, and winter-weather rain patterns are suspected to be the primary reasons for the flooding that occurs almost every year on the South Fork. In late fall through early spring, storms often come from the southwest.Typically, these floods on the Skokomish spawn scores of Seattle TV news crews and print journalists to the scene, and is not unheard of for stories of Skokomish River floods by the media to include the joke "Why did the salmon cross the road?"
I think they are all Cohoes. Most of the Lake Onterio Cohoes are bright red at this stage. They look bright red like Sockeye.. But Cohoes that run in the Pacific and off the other great lakes look more like this? Anyone know why? The largest Coho ever caught, was in the Salmon River off of Ontario. It was a crazy 30+ lbs. (I think it was beaten recently). Why in the world do they get so big there, and run only 8-10 lbs in Alaska? I've seen alot over 20lbs spawning off Ontario!
Road workers: heh, hehehe, want to see somethin funny, build a road here. Fish Responce: If I had fingers, just wait until I evovle because when I do Im going to be a bird flipping road raging fish.
