So stoked you could come out and ride skook with me! We got such an epic level and so many awesome moments with the crew. I'll get Dave Malcom to fish you out of the tour, so you can upload your next episode!
Yeah bro so stocked bro. Kowabunga bro let's grow our hair longer and not wash it for a week bro then go surfing and smoke some sea weed bro and then eat some lucky charms together bro without wetties bro. Yeah bro
I used to practice freestyle kayak when I was younger and now I'm surfing. Great to watch those two in the vid. I like ur content Dylan, cheers from France 👍🏼
Incredible, love the shots of the kayakers getting so down. I feel like we’re all connected by this flow state that we’re all searching for and crave. I get mine from snowboarding, and love to watch these videos in the off season to keep my stoke up. Love this epic venture that you are documenting Dylan!!
My fondest memories of my whole sports life are surfing Skooks, kayaks of course... love you all had the balls to board it! Tho, wear a PFD next time... the channel is super deep and those whirlpools have sank large boats before... and one surfer!
I still remember seeing the wave for the first time in the surf movie "Keep Surfing" from some fellow Munich river surfers in 2009. I really enjoyed seeing more of the wave, thanks Dylan!
In awe at Dylan’s ability to beautifully capture these stunning places, people, and cultures. One of your best yet!!! I would watch a super extended edit as well!
@@thhhx 🙌 thank u ! I try my best to do these places and experiences justice ❤️ there’s a lot more footage that hit the cutting room floor maybe I will someday
A dude named Elijah Mack who owned a barbershop in Eugene, OR called Mos Faded used to river surf on the Willamette seshed Skookum back in 2003. He introduced me to river surfing and I seshed the Willamette a few times but prefer the ocean. EDIT oh duh…you mentioned him in the video 😅. I was skipping.
Yeah spoke to Elijah a bunch about this wave, I reached out to him to come but he wasn’t able to join :/ would’ve been all time if he could’ve been there
You are awesome Dylan. Thanks for taking us on your adventures and crafting these videos so nicely. You educate the viewer but it’s also an easy watch like Surfers of Bali or Beefs TV. Stay awesome Mr. Graves ✊
Awesome Video. There's so much beauty in two sports being able to converge in such a fashion. A collidning of similar but different worlds in a sharing of passion for water is poetic beyond belief. Keep up the good work out there.
"It tells you where the whirlpools are..." Man, that is a scary sentence to hear right before a surf session if ever I heard one! Well done for making the tour.
Hey Dylan, we have a similar (but smaller and bumpier) river/tidal wave here in Limerick city, Ireland. It needs a near spring low tide to function, but also needs a decent flow in the river Shannon. In the winter the flow in the river is too strong, the water levels never get low enough to break. Almost an exclusive spring /early winter wave. The window in autumn is very small but possible. Very weird wave. Never seen another surfer on it, but there is a group of kayakers who are on it every day it is working. They are delighted to see a surfer turning up. Great bunch
Nice. Our plastic fantastic fantasies. I have never surfed a river wave or tidal bore, but it looks really fun and chill. A wave that you don't wait for, go when you want. I really love your down to earth vibe instead of the usual ego drive in most surf videos. Keep up the good work.
Thank u! Certain river waves / tidal bores can be super fun, sometimes chill, but even tho they look small ( or chill) this can be deceiving, as the amount of water you are riding is usually more than you deal with on any wave of similar size in the ocean … but as long as you’ve taken the necessary safety precautions into account and are feeling comfortable with your exit strategy, it can be extremely fun and at times chill :)
Another incredible video man! You just showed me a part of BC i've never seen in all my time there. Love it when you upload dude. So quality every time.
Ya'll have brass cojones that I will never have! Wow~!! Incredible piece of water and some great filming as well. Nice work and congratulations on surviving the Tour!
Mad respect for so many reasons. I both kayak and surf and I have kayak skook a fee times. Its always intimidating . Also Respect for doing the thing that you do. Surf and kayak dont always mix super well in some other places...and there is just no reasons for it. Its just play
Hi Marcel, I started shaping my own boards shortly after I started surfing Skook. The squared-off board I designed to give maximum floatation and surface area to catch the wave at the largest of flows. It's a playboat/ mini-sim inspired hull. The green one is more of a groveller. I'm from Sydney, Australia originally, moved to Canada in 2017 and started surfing Skook in 2020. Nick
i was a little kid when my dad and mom used to tree plan at a camp at skookum , i remember them going to work in the helicopter and i would hang with the dogs and cooks around the cook shack
This is so sick man, I got some rapids waves that me and my buddies have tried to surf down here in Georgia. You just made me want to go try that again for a vid 🤙
