So many people complaining about the "stay" vocals, but that's what intrigued me most about this song. The dissonance of the high and low "stay" juxtaposed with her beautiful voice creates a mysterious and exotic feeling. I think every piece of this song is beautiful.
Skott does it again!!!! Here are the lyrics: Stay stay Amelia Stay stay Amelia I swear if you reach that door you're not welcome any more Stay stay Amelia Plates and bottles on the floor, I can't fix them on my own Jeeeeez we had it figured out, limitless, in love We even broke in to a warehouse so no one would find out Your father chased us down We even packed that suitcase Are you really walking out Stay stay Amelia If you reach that door I'll.. Stay stay Amelia If you reach that door I'll I swear if you reach that door you're not welcome any more Jeeeeez we had it figured out, limitless, in love We even broke in to a warehouse so no one would find out Your father chased us down We even packed that suitcase Are you really walking out Amelia Stay stay If you reach that door I'll.. Stay stay If you reach that door I'll Party we're gonna throw a party if you decide to stay here We're gonna throw a party if you decide to stay Jeeeeez we had it figured out, limitless, in love We even broke in to a warehouse so no one would find out Your father chased us down We even packed that suitcase Are you really walking out
I gotta give sheepy some credit... All his uploads are so unique... Songs I'd never find on my own... They're all the types of songs you don't know if you like at first but then after a minute you're smashing the loop button
The picture totally suites the song, it's like that girl's name is Amelia and she's singing the words that maybe someone spoke to her. I've always wanted to be pretty enough to be a model and take pictures like that lol. She just looks so beautiful and at peace, like nothing can mess with her. Her beauty kinda makes her seem invincible! 😂❤️
Not all models are the standard "beautiful" if you make yourself stand out while being true to yourself that's the best way :) I almost became a model and I'm not a super thin girl and I had bright blue hair and tattoos but they still tried to get into modeling classes. If it's your dream go for it!!
Fell in love with Skott after this song - very well composed and such a great feel to it. Very smooth and chill, melodic and then those reverberating beats with those vocals. Man such a good song - look forward to following to see how his sound progresses. Stay....stay. Lvpeace!
a mixed masterpiece, also sounds like jesus but then its just jeez, so brilliant. Gospel background, and that background art on spotify, tainted glass, omfg perfect metaphors!
AHHHHHH!!!!! ANOTHER SKOTT SONG! I'm soooo obsessed with her music.. her voice is amazing!!! I love Porcelain so much.. I even made a music video of it lol.. gahhhh her voice is like an angel.... *replays this song over and over*
listening on crisp headphones on the nyc train entering a fairy tale realm with fairytale problems.. i forget the ghettos of nyc to this song and master mix, thank you! Im pu to the concerts baby
I don't, I love it, makes it more unique from regular tracks, to be honest it's the only thing making me fall in love with it, but that's my personal opinion :p someone might make a cover without it one day
It's similar in nature to a bass growl in dubstep. If you like the song, but don't like that weird unnatural low sound in it, you'll realize when it's gone that there's something missing. That almost off-key "stay" and the haunting, background opera/choir group are very important parts of making the song unique, since they're the majority of the minor sounds. if you took them out the song would lose that twisted vibe of there being something wrong in the whole situation. Just saying. You'd be listening to a completely different song.
YESSSSSS new Skott! She's such a flawless singer, loved her two earlier songs. This might be the best I've heard from her so far, absolutely incredible
Sheepy, Your channel is honestly one of the best things that ever happend to me and probably alot of other people. All of the music that you post is high quality and also extremely beautiful to listen to. Thank You
Is this song about a lesbian relationship? Cause she speaks about her father chasing them out and packing a suitcase (running away), how they had it all figured out. Or maybe I'm always trying to make things gay.
One thing that I like about her current releases is that have vastly different sounds in contrast to each other; 'Porcelain' having the most dreamlike quality, 'Wolf' being the most folk-influenced & 'Amelia' being the most pop/EDM sounding out of all of them. Electro/indie pop chanteuse of '16/'17 tbh.
I'm going to preface this by saying that I have put this song on repeat for the last two days. It's incredibly catchy and the way that the song jumps up and down with energy is wonderful. However ... these lyrics are so trite, once you hear what they're saying it disenchants the song completely. "I'm gonna throw a party ... if you decide to stay." ... What? Why? If you replaced these lyrics with something with just a touch more depth it would turn this good song into a great one. Nevertheless ... fun to listen to.
I like to think there's a reason to the lyrics, including the weird "we're gonna throw a party" and the haunting "stay" lines. Edit: scrap everything. found the word "love" in the lyrics. They're sung in a very different way, and the song's story seems to be about running and something else. Plates and bottles on the floor that need fixing? Breaking into a warehouse so people wouldn't know? An angry father? I'd normally jump to the conclusion of some sort of forbidden love, but there's no clear indication of one. Instead I'd vouch for either a murder or drugs, and the singer being the enabler. That's why there are the various uncanny sounds that are inhuman or ghost-like. Maybe it's a schizophrenic person, and a loved one trying to help them. The party to me is a desperation, a last-ditch attempt to keep Amelia there. The hallucinations trying to keep her, or the dead trying to entice her, but she can't put up with it and thus is trying to leave. Or it's taking a page out of EDM, where the vocals are just an instrument and the lyrics don't matter. I've lost count of the amount of times I've heard something cliché about playing with matches and/or getting burned. I have no idea what Skott is doing, and haven't looked around to see if she's made any comments about the song. Honestly this is the first time I've even heard of the artist.
Jake Uskoski Hmm, I really appreciate the depth of analysis and the time you took to write this. I think with some lyrics, you can dig very deep and find a greater or more intricate meaning, even if the writer wasn't necessarily trying to convey that. As for this song, I'm not certain. I would like to agree with you, and I would even prefer your interpretation rather than assuming it's just a set of cliché lyrics about wanting someone back. I guess it really depends on how much faith the listener wants to give to the writers. Then again, if a lyricist really wanted to talk about hiding away a murder, an addiction, or some darker thing, why take the route of using cliché words if they are going to convey the same thing anyway? Why not use more unique imagery and phrasing to convey what you're saying? If they are looking to be metaphorical so that the listener has to think hard about what they are saying, then they should simply opt out for more unique prose, in my opinion. In terms of it being EDM, I think it's the most logical conclusion that these vocals are more so just another instrument. The words don't strike me as important since they seem somewhat hallow, and just add a great texture to the song. I can appreciate them for what they are even if they are not filled with too much meaning. Still, I enjoy your interpretation far more!
Christina Wilson I understood that much about the song. Jake and I were hoping there was some deeper meaning. Love between same sex couples being prohibited or frowned upon by millennial parents isn't a new issue or particularly gripping story since there is so much of it these days. We were just discussing and trying to see if there was anything between the lines of something that sounded a little cliché.
Josh Fredette thats okay personally, i feel sometimes a song like this doesn't need a deeper symbolic meaning. for me it resonated strongly because i relate and understand that pain, and the vocals and style of the song had a strong depth with me i actually prefer the simplistic meaning with this style, a bit more concise paralleling the structure and style of the song just an opinion
Well, this song is amazing, what else is there to say? Oh yea, some people don't like the stay, I can understand why but for some reason I think it makes the song more interesting. :D
I still firmly believe this song is about drug addiction and the person singing is actually the voice in the addicts head trying to convince them to continue to seclude themselves from everyone and everything and just succumb to the high and the oblivion of being a blitz out addict. Especially with the "we're gonna throw a party part", it's so creepy it sounds like a hollow promise of joy and fun (the high from continued drug use) but it's off putting and sounds more like it's not a positive experience anymore and the addict knows this and knows only bad things/feelings come after those suppposed "good times". In the rest of the song, the singing voice, (aka the voice in the addicts head), sounds like a Person guilting a Lover (the addict) for leaving after investing/sacrificing so much time and effort for a relationship (cutting off bonds and relationships, spending loads of money and time just for drugs) and said Lover feeling guilt and troubled over leaving behind a life they've known for so long and thought made them happy but was actually really fucking terrible, and realizing this, they decide to leave that relationship(quit drugs), but again that stupid voice in their head tells them they're in too deep to quit now, causing inner turmoil for the addict. Should they stay, leave?
Got up this morning chose this song as my notification to listen to this morning. Man today is gonna be a good day. Brilliant creation! - Toymarh (I would love to remix this)
