can't tell if you mean good or bad but i think they did a pretty good damn job making it look interesting and cool & the editing effects are pretty dope ass well
So no one's gonna mention how the camera man gives this even more life. Great work all the way around Sonny. Hats off to you man! Just got some new Jabra 85t earbuds and this is the perfect test!!! Love ❤ It
@@satanlamb1097 same man, different music. While I'm happy he's okay, this is not the music I'm looking for. He's just producing what sells not what fans want. Sad. edit: fixed typo.
My best friend passed away this year but he showed me this amazing set last time I went to visit him so I'll be blasting this with full volume speakers to honor him
As a really old elderly person I find this exciting and mesmerizing. His ability to create new sounds and to manipulate sampled sounds is just amazing. The merging of a creative mind with technology is an amazing thing to hear.
This is precisely why Skrillex is so good. His ability to bend and manipulate frequencies is unpararalled. But even with all the craziness he still can make it sound like proper mainstream banger that falls within the palletes of a big audience. Most artists that have an experimental sound have a hard time pleasing ears of the masses
@@soursweet6539 omg, I quoted that on another song once and the entire comment section, including the DJ/Producer who uploaded the track pounced on me. Like 1 of 12 people got the reference. Seriously, the DJ said something along the lines "Actually I am classically trained and can play several instruments". I thought that a brostep DJ would know the histroy of brostep, but I guess not.
Literally the reason I haven't watched the Super Bowl, no Skrillex. If he was the half time show; even if its only once, I'd commit to watching it for life.
You don’t see artists stay this relevant for this long. Especially DJs. Skrillex is literally the fucking KING. He refuses to step down from the throne he built. God bless bro this album sounds fucking unreal
That's the amazing part. Skrillex has had multiple eras/periods of music that any artist would be content with having once in their lifetime. His evolving sounds (that's still relevant) is why he's the top of the top.
This set is a great example of how high-quality things don't have to be complicated or use tons of stuff. A basement, lights, cool camera work and good music is what was used to create this top notch immersive experience. Props to Sonny and his team for this 👏❤️
This man is built different. Incredible how his career as an artist has changed over the years. This album is going to change the landscape of electronic music and hip hop as well.
the smile on his face at 23:33 after the drop where hes just vibing out brought me to tears, you can just tell he worked so hard to get this album done and deliver his vision fully. as a fan since "FFTL" im so happy to see this album reach us and i feel so much growth in his art over the years, starting a new era with sonny feels so refreshing and brings so many memories back. he was a huge part of the reason i started producing my own beats, i saw him perform at counterpoint in georgia in 2012 and it just started such a huge chain of events, thank you so much sonny/skrillex i can not WAIT for this album!
I saw from first to last at warped tour 05 in Nashville at starwood. Saw skrillex play a tiny nashville venue mercy lounge that was the best show of my life and I'm more of a pretty lights guy.
I love the little mistakes, like at 2:05 and how Skrillex just corrects it and keeps the vibe moving. It really shows off his ambition, creativity, and mastery of the decks. It's a nice reminder that this really is live mixed, which means both the mixing and the camera work are so impressive. Bravo.
Not gonna lie, it has me tearing up to see this guy back in his element and releasing what I truthfully think is some of his best music. He’s the sole reason myself and countless other artists continue to pursue and try to push the boundaries of music.
If your a current DJ or a former DJ, this should make your soul fill up because this is what it's all about. Mixing, blending, bending beats and music to beccome your own. I'm with you as far as tearing up. It's great producing songs, but bring it back to the roots of where it started ? This is epic.
The direction of this clip is really awesome. The lights, the movement and fluidity of the camera, the stroboscopes, the gesture of Skrillex, this is really hypnotizing
SO MANY GREAT MOMENTS IN THIS! ACTUALLY IT'S ALL GREAT! I LIVE HOW THIS SET SHOWCASES A LIL OF EVERYTHING! WHY AM I ONLY SEEING AND HEARING THIS NOW?!?
It's overwhelming how happy he looks. He seems to be enjoying this new phase of himself and that's what a guy who loves his job looks like. I'm gonna enjoy so much this new albums more than i'd probably ever imagine because I owe it to my 11~12 year old little me. Thank you, Sonny. I love your changes in this few past years and, in the same way never change who you are. Come back to Argentina :)
@@copcop4782 You’re referencing 2006 though, dubstep in itself has changed as genre’s will over time and he isn’t limiting himself to trying to stay within one genre, that’s what is special about his music production. But, sounds like you had a memorable experience!👍
@@copcop4782 As someone who listens to dubstep constantly, this is so much better sounding and unique. Skrillex has almost made his own genre, not to mention how much better his sound design is compared to all the other dubstep producers
I saw Skrill back in 2011 at a Festival in Austria not having a damn clue who he would become... The man has improved exponentially as a DJ, over a decade of perfecting his craft. It's pretty dope as a bass head to watch an artist progress over time. Skrillex was and remains interesting to observe. Big up homie.
Nothing is more refreshing in the music world than an artist hitting you with new sounds and schemes. Especially when it’s someone as creative as skrillex. 10/10
Yup, im a huge fan of hardstyle and hardcore, i dont remember which song he did where there was a short but sudden hardcore drop and kick, it was so pure, and clean. he is so talented😬
@@guillem99 that is cool but i remember it harder, although it might have been Dylan Brady im thinking of, not sure. But that sounds good, more like psytrance or something tho in my opinion, but thanks😁
bruh Skrillex is the real G. He really is an all-genre producer and has evolved musically like crazy. always been a huge fan of his. He's an inspiration.
I disagree. Skrillex has always made music that HE liked, without care for the "current music." At least from what I've observed playing at clubs, if he was with the current trend it'd be melodic Fred-Again house and Drill. Sonny out here trendSETTING, not adapting
As a music producer from Syria..and Sonny being my Superhero..this gives me huge inspiration to keep going and deliver the voice of lost youth living here..thank you so much Skrillex All the love from me and your hardcore fans in Syria❤
The amount of effort that must've gone into making this look effortless is just astounding, such a variety of patterns, textures, melodies, harmonies, vocals, drums, transitions. some massive talent at work there, it's so great to see this in the "mainstream"
Its called bass music, and while Skrillex's album is very very good, it barely scratches the surface of what Bass Music contains. And no, we dont want bass music in the mainstream.
This has me smiling ear to ear. It's like little ice crystals dancing on my brain with all the amazing elements popping off at once. Combine that with these visuals? Sick set, Skrillex!
I’ve been saying that Skrillex was going to come back with an album that would set the new standard for electronic music…now is the time. We are witnessing history.
Not a single second of disappointment, not a single second regretted. Such a diverse producer. Album's gonna be 🔥🔥 Glad you're back Sonny. Its been a while 😭
Skrillex has matured like a fine wine, this is apex skill level. Also shouts to the camera op getting their 20,000 steps in and the LD with some clever lighting design and control, this whole thing is vibes all the way 😎
For an EDM artist? idk most of them get better and better as time goes on. It is just the nature of the genre. It gets more and more complex as time goes on.
I've been following Sonny's work since mid-2010 and this guy's trajectory shows that there is no limit to the ability to recreate yourself and to continue innovating. THIS IS SKRILLEX
From the scary monsters era, to jack u era, to this 2 albums era, we can agree on one thing: Sonny's snare game remains unmatched. edit: yes recess definitely slaps but lets be real jack u era was smth else. that "funny" snare get him his biggest collab with bieber, another grammy and a beef with deadmau5 💀
Besides the incredible music and his skill to mix and master his songs I also want to give props to the people giving us such a cinematic and immersive DJ set I have never experienced before. It just fits with Sonnys visionarity.
Playing slightly experimental rap and trap is not reinventing EDM. I love Skrill, but personally I need something with more energy. This isn’t dance music for me. “Leave me alone like this” is about the only track I can really get behind so far sadly…
@@soJ2 I need more bass mate. Skrill since Recess has been sad for me to see. Don’t get me wrong I love the guy, and still think he has allot of talent, and I appreciate the production of these new songs, but me, and many others, would give allot to see him make some proper dubstep again.
@@ArenBerberian Agreed, pushing the boundaries a bit. I feel Flume did the same with Hi This Is Flume. Great stepping stones but a bit hard to get around all of it.
still can't believe I have gotten to see two forms of Sonny in my life. I always thought you wouldn't top From first to Last. But here we are 15 years basically later and you keep growing. Imagine being so legendary and still no ceiling in sight!! Cheers to Sonny for taking the massive step of releasing his first EP for free on myspace cause his label said they wouldn't support the transition.
@@tastyboi2163 Nah, I'm pretty sure Porter just co-produced on this track but the vocals are from Bibi Bourelly. Skrillex posted a snippet on Insta on his birthday not long ago. You can probably find the clip on his Twitter.
10 years ago I loved and craved for his music. I don't like that style of filthy Dubstep now but now, I love and crave for what he does here/now XD this guy a legend to me.
Watched it and listened from beginning to an end. What an incredible work of DJ himself, camera man and lights. Thank ya'll. That's definetly one of the greatest sets. So inspirational.
Hey Skrillex, I just trully hope you are as happy as we are. You know, I was alone in my room when your set came out. Now I'm jumping and smiling. Later, I will be jumping and smiling with my friends hearing your set. Thank you for make me feel this way.
Skrillex wasn't even active in the current electronic scene but from this set, I definitely know he has been keeping his ears peeled and incorporating certain styles into his own music (e.g. colour bass in TEARS). Truly a master at work. Great camera work and lighting too!
10 years ago when I was 13, I was obsessed with Skrillex. 10 years later, I’m still obsessed with skrillex and can’t wait to see him live in September. I will literally cry 😭😍
I BELIVE THIS VIDEO IS AN ICON PEOPLE WELL STILL LISTIN TO IT AFTER 20 OR 30 YEARS; EVEN MORE IT'S A REFERNCE AND EXAMPLE OF HOW DANCE MUSIC AND DJING SHOULD BE SKRILLEX IS JUST INCREDIBLE A TRUE LEGEND
This man is the picasso of EDM, I actually feel blessed to have followed this guys journey ever since I was a teenager, this is a perfect culmination of everything he has ever learned, it is an absolute master piece
I like how he’s quickly adapted to this generations style and vibe such a good comeback and it sounds refreshing because he adds his little twist on it
He built his modern sound upon the ground of a few genre skills. Emo, hardcore and post-hardcore. (Right?) Those genres use very similar chord tonality and combos as melodic techno, and the drums are similar to jungle or rave(sometimes, just like metal). Then he messed around with being a DJ and incorporated what I always called wubstep. The result was Skrillex's dubstep hits I suppose. Post-dubstep and riddim and dancehall and whatever else mixed in is much better imo than dubstep was. Time. Always moving forward. Whether or not you enjoyed Skrillex(at whatever phase of his music career), you cannot deny he was and is a very talented musician.
