I really like pirate games.. but NO onboarding fights and NO on land fights to take over islands. NO pirate island you can manage. What did they do all those years?
Am I the only one enjoying the beta? After watching every test review video I was very skeptical, but now i’m really leaning towards giving the game a chance. Try the beta and see for yourself :)
Ubisoft hater here, I'm having a lot of fun with this. Resource gathering for better weapons and ships. Attack whatever whenever if I want to die. It's nice. Try it
This is not a pirate game. This is a third-person shooter where you play as a pirate ship, take part in minigames to collect resources, and customize your ship with different armor to resist types of elemental damage.
dunno how people are disagreeing with this. it isn't a pirate game, it's an arcadey ship game. nothing wrong with that, but DEFINITELY not a pirate game, it's missing way too many features to be one
When you spend more than half the video covering the diabolical development history and not actually mention anything relating to gameplay, and the second half being comprised of the words 'Ubisoft' 'live service' 'premium edition' 'seasons'... This is unironically a very informative review.
Not every pirate theme games should be like sea of thieves & ac black flag, there's plenty RTS pirate theme games in there & gamers approved but why not pirate theme ship simulator game ?

It really annoys me when these big outlets tip toe around the real story. Stop saying that they, “pivoted in a new and exciting direction” in 2020 and tell the truth. They were hemorrhaging money on this game because the studio didn’t know what it was doing, so they had a choice between calling it a loss and scrapping it, or pivoting to a GAAS model, and they chose the latter.
I really don't think anything they produce will be what you. Now if you are talking about "we" then should probably wait for sales data. They do sell a lot of copies across a large lineup of games
Ghost Recin Breakpoint needed massive changes after release due to fan backlash. They also delayed this game 100x over for the same reason but they seem unable to fix it. They also ruined For Honor by adding far to many fantasy elements to the game. A large number of players quit playing because of it

Everything you need to know: It's an Ubisoft game, it will be a train wreck, buggy, and full of microtransactions. Buy it in a year or two for $5 if you really have to.
The only ship game is made by Gaijin and Wargaming and are P2W pvp games. Dude we need a good ship game. Who cares about playing another assassins creed.
People would have been happy if they left everything how AC Black Flag was, but instead they removed ground combat and boarding....this is going to be a fail!
The game lost me at “live service.” Too bad, too, 'cause it had looked interesting up to that point. Honestly, I would buy this game if it were Black Flag or Odyssey but with no connection to any of the AC games or its universe-just a new single-player adventure, action RPG IP from Ubisoft with some boat action thrown in there.
No combat on land or ships = not a real pirate game! This is just a ship battle simulator, and although pretty looking, isn't even very good at that! No thanks!
Soon as he said no land combat and boarding is an automatic process, video was stopped and I no longer have interest. Seriously no hand to hand combat with other pirate's? 6 years just for ship combat....LAME!!!
It was stated in the video. Change on direction from being 5 vs 5 arena to a fictional setting to a final Indian Ocean with a progression system with crafting it was settled on. That is why.
Games take a bit more work to produce than you might be imagining. Just because you live in a world of buffets where you can just walk up to a counter and grab food, doesn't mean hundreds of people didn't spend hundreds or thousands of hours to bring it to you
game is very clearly advertised as a pirate game. people expect pirate aspects, not an arcadey ship game. there's of course, nothing wrong with that and people are blowing it out of proportion but acting like it isn't a massive let down for a lot of people is crazy an arcadey ship game doesn't sound bad in my book though, might get it on sale
Dont be such a cynical know it all. This isnt the case of "oh haha literally hilarious all these haters came to hate but came here anyway smug smug". The game finally actually coming is a huge surprise for alot of us. The title of the video is "EVERYTHING to know" so ofcourse we came to check it out and see if things changed for the better. Unfortunately the title is clickbait and half the video is a history lesson anyone following this game already knows about rather than things like optional activities, singleplayer offline mode status, max player count per battle, ect. All the people who came to hate are only hating because they delayed the game several times, and now its finally releasing yet nothing new has been done to justify the delays. Its the same game we hated when they planned to release it 2-3 years ago. We came to watch to see the changes and now we are hating because it didnt change. That they already have planned the next FOUR SEASONS and the game isnt even out yet speaks volumes to how samey and grindy this game is gonna be to play on release, let alone the whole YEAR.
