It is a physiological adaptation of the fetal skull to make fetal passage easy without complication. It is not meant to take away maternal pain due to contracting muscles during labor.
The Fontanelles are also used in assessing the Hydration status of a baby in Paediatrics. If the fontanelle is Depressed - it means the baby is dehydrated. If its bulged it means the is raised intracranial pressure
But how sunken is the question because some babies look a bit more indented than others. Sometimes parents get scared for something that's normal. If a baby is very dehydrated to the point they need to be seen by a doctor they will display more than one symptom of dehydration. Check for dry diapers also and a dry mouth.
I was always wondering how the skull developed as you grow bigger (straight up became curious out of the blue), and this video helped explain a lot of it, but I was wondering if there was a good source/video you could recommend that is exclusive to how the skull develops from childhood to adulthood as well. Thanks for this video, even though I'm sure you were not expecting someone like me to be a part of your audience!
Thank you so much sir! Jazak Allah! May Allah bless you Ameen. You made anatomy really easy for me. Your videos gave me confidence for OSCES and such and I just really appreciate. Also lol all your videos were a few years old so I'm glad you're still alive lol hahaha I'm joking, please don't mind

@@TheNotedAnatomist , thank you for your reply. I have always been intrigued as to why they did the head binding . Everything I read always attributes it to a cultural thing, or something to with Royalty . Do you think it's possible that this was done to try to expand the frontal cortex somehow , or to make the brain into a shape that is more conductive to certain metaphysical aspects ? I hope I worded all of that correctly . I'm just a layman interested in the construction of our human body.
