These are great engines, they can put down some decent power even NA. Would have loved to have had a warmed up one in my R18 Civic. That was a fun car with a 5 speed in it. Drove a newer one as a loaner with a CVT auto, it was a pig in comparison! Anyone hopping R18s up at all? They seemed like a decent engine although I don't think they had near the aftermarket support.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem. 😜

Yup, I started popping valves opened/closed on old (or weathered) motorcycle engines 40 years ago. It works surprisingly well if the valves/seats are only surface rusted...

Hey Richard, deleted my comment but you answered it before I deleted it. I kinda talked myself through it, I used the inner spring on my heads and the solid lifter :/, I have a set of springs from comp for this, but they are so weak that they don't erase the marker and I don't have any Dykem (sp). Anyway, figured that if a lifter ever pumped up from it's preload then you would get a hung up valve. Also spent some time reading some articles and found one where I want to say Jon Kaase ran one with an oil pump with a stuck check ball but it was in the hundreds of pounds of pressure. Read another article that stated you would need 150 psi to move it, which is like double of what I ever see. Then I remembered your video on LS pushrod lengths and just figured if I am wrong then it will just be more a screamer. I ordered the 7.8 pushrods.

years ago when I took my engine from the junk yard I use to take a small sealed battery with me and take all the plugs out and do a compression test real quick before anyone heard me.......I guess you could take a small jump start pack.

Would like to see a comparo of the 4-2-1 and the 4 into 1 header. My turbo 4 cyl likes the 4-2-1 a LOT better.

Hey Richard, I recently acquired a d150 with a Mopar 318LA. Do you have a video you could do on one? I’m curious to know what kind of power it makes. Especially like 4bbl intake and carb over the tiny factory 2bbl, small camshaft, headers, etc. So I know where to spend my money first! Or rather if it’s worth building or if it should just be scraped for it’s 360 big brother.
