Sky Glass Pro’s & Con’s 5 days after owning it. 

I work for sky and my dept has only just started selling it, your reviews are really helpful to see how customers actually use Glass and whats important and what isnt. Keep them up !!

Hi great video I love my sky glass and for me it’s better way to watch tv this is only going to get even better. To buy movies don’t know why you can’t purchase via an app on sky instead using you phone. But hey I’m so so happy it’s perfect for me. I was a little worried about it after seeing all the negative reviews but glad I did get it for me better way to watch tv thank you

Sky glass is new and will get better it does have teething problems like anything new . I got sky glass from having sky Q and don't regret it. I have one wire now from the glass tv. If you are happy with wires everywhere and boxes fine ,but glass is the future

As you said, it's not good for live TV which is all my parents watch. They sent their Sky Glass back. I watch shows and films via Google TV which is similar to Sky Glass. Google TV has a better interface but has been around longer.

Got it last Monday.I found the gimmicks very temperamental.The motion sensor is a nuisance,when it works.I've had trouble making it come on several times,and once making it turn off.Sound wise I wasn't impressed at all.I expected it to be outstanding,going by the blurb.It wasn't IMHO.So I cancelled on Friday.Going back to my little 55" Polaroid and Panasonic soundbar.

I ordered this because I wanted a 43" TV or whatever it is with good sound and good pictures and with all the leading streaming apps. My friend was saying I was ridiculous to get into SkyGlass. To be honest, I was panicking a bit earlier because of that reason. I have been watching your playlist and you have definitely made me feel a lot better about it, even though I know it isn't perfect. What is, though? Thank you.

Enjoyed your review on sky glass very honest I had sky Q then had sky glass just on Sunday 31st I find it good it’s a good quality tv and sound and as you said the format may need rearranging but it’s new for myself sky have always had a the best systems like sky plus / skyQ/etc so this will take time

If i may make another point,You mentioned about the flickering it only happens every so often, The dammed thing shouldn’t happened at app, Sky should have taken a leaf out of the APPLE BOOK ,Don’t release it until everything is WORKING PROPERLY.

Taking a very long time to get to the pros and cons.

I’m waiting until the bugs are ironed out which I expect will happen just like as you say they did with sky q which I also waited for. I don’t understand when people say if you have q you don’t need this because it’s only for those who can’t have a dish. For many this is a great all in one tv which is who sky are targeting. Some have never seen 4k or heard atmos but now they can. I watch soaps live so don’t use itv app or bbc iplayer. I do watch neighbours and home and away via catch up so I don’t know how quickly the eps would appear on glass because on q it’s pretty much a minute after they start. Most of my other programmes are on sky.

What about Miracast (or equivalent) to stream phone photos and videos; and DNLA, for those with a media server?

I am thinking about leaving Sky has to keep wouldn't prices up year after year and I've been a sky customer since they first started I was just playing £5 then now I'm £105 now at this moment in time I can't have Sky glass as we are looking for a 75 inch TV next

You can delete things from Playlist, Play All but not from the Play Now bit. The flicker is being addressed with a software update. Not sure about the bars.

I see you've found the 'remove' from playlist, in another comment below. The issue encountered with ITV program not showing where your wife had actually got to in that ep, I reckon is a fault on ITV Hub side, all Sky is doing is launching the app. So hopefully ITV fix up that issue anyway. I'm still in two minds about getting Glass myself. I like all the speakers bundled in and single plug. But currently don't watch live broadcasts, or pay a license, and unless you continue to pay the Sky Ultimate subscription you don't get the features like voice commands, auto detect on, as those services only come with the Sky subscription. Not sure I want to start paying 26 quid a month for that, plus 160 a year or whatever a license fee is. I'm weighing it all up. But reckon leaning toward spending similar cost of the 65" on a 75" Samsung QLED like the Q60 model, and just buy another Chromecast to chuck in that. Still think this Glass is good value for what you're getting, just wish could get all the functionality without the Sky Ultimate subs, I like on my Chromecast can just speak a program and it goes sources it. Good reviews though you been doing. I reckon helping a lot of people make decisions one way or another

Its a great idea, but has a long way to go. there are features locked behind paid packages etc, plus having no record function (id loose my entire SG1 and Atlantis collection!) is a big no for me. also not supporting 120hz and VRR is a let down as that was last/this years biggest innovation in home TV. After recently upgrading to the Samsung QLED with those features i think il be happy for a few years, and see what Glass2 (or whatever it will be called) comes out with :)

What settings have you got for your picture? Looks nice and vibrant and bright. Is the picture on auto or custom? Thanks.

I was wondering during why you've got a sound bar us the sky glass soundbar no good??

I take it the quality is great now after the latest update. Apparently there's a big difference on brightness and colours. Is HDR content much better now? £5 a month for add skipping that's terrible as you can skip the adds on sky q it should be the same across the board. I've just recently changed from sky q to stream. I never new about the extra add skipping charge

Hey what’s the black levels / contrast like? I’m really interested in this but worried about the PQ. The glare on the itv hub loading screen looks awful (about 5:55) but I can’t tell if that’s the recording or maybe just the app itself

Say you can’t delete from play list at the top says series added so if you say go to itv hub say the cube like you show and untick it wouldn’t that remove it from the play list

Sky I'm making it too complicated quite a lot of elderly people so what you have showed us I think it's alright loaded gobbledygook the way sky set out looks like sky has rushed his new system and I've also heard of people that the picture keeps freezing due to broadband not being good enough wait till Christmas day when the internet will go down a snails pace when you need speed to make Sky glass work

Hi, are you able to confirm if all terrestrial channels (bbc, itv, 4) open up their respective apps to watch things added to the playlist? I can’t stand the apps and would be interested in this but I can’t get clarification and you never start any programs from your playlist in the videos

It basically does what fire tv or any good streaming box does

Think I read on one review that the ITV hub picture quality was more SD than HD. Have you experienced any similar issues with picture quality? Thx

I’ve had Sky Glass 2 weeks now. The thing that bugs me is future TV upgrades. Stuck with Paying for the 65” Tv for 4 years. If Sky bring out a better TV within that time can I upgrade without losing money? Wouldn’t want to buy a new Glass TV whilst paying for another. If Sky would take it back as part payment for a new one, I’d be happy with that. The TVs are pretty useless without a Sky subscription so who would want a second hand one. I didn’t have Sky Q. This is an upgrade from Sky+ HD but not really that much from Sky Q.

Could you tell me how you wall mounted it? I have an expensive wall mount that allows my current tv to pull out and adjust the angle. Did you get someone to fit it to the wall?

i got sky glass this week and i like it however i have 2 issues 1. we had itv anglia now its itv meridian for local news. 2. there is no way of connecting a usb drive to the tv so i cant play my personal videos,photos,music

Okay you mention on demand, But you need internet access there are many people that can’t afford internet so them people will be left behind plus there are a great number of people that love live tv. Plus most of your demonstrations (NOT YOUR FAULT) The majority of all these so called great features DONT WORK.

If shy class was fully on demand service with no live broadcast s and the ability to delete anything from BBC,so you could go legal tv license free it would be worth looking into,but it's not.As I understand it you need bare minimum 25mbps for 4k,min 10Mbps hd and that's beyond national Avavarge.A friend of friend had 65inch version and had send it back because his sky broadband could not cope with it,AND UNLIKE SKY BOX YOU CAN'T DOWNLOAD ON hardrive.IF your gamer it has many features missing from it especially VRR/120ha panel just name few.If you decide you don't want sky you can get better tv for price. But I do like fact you can get sky glass tv in your sky subscription.IF have kids streaming your gonna have to have one hell of broadand speed,unless you can choose resolution like you can on say RU-vid,and I don't think you can. Wouldn't recommend.

Does anyone’s motion sensor work?

I record the f1 live and watch it normally about 1 hour after it has started. How will this work on glass as I am unable to record? Is it as simple as having it on playlist and selecting watch from start? Does that come up on live sport?

This needs to improve before considering

Two downsides no recording facility and if you lose internet connection you lose everything including tv channels

What a terrible system , the price you pay is astronomical and ties you into a monthly contract , not for us we have historically always had problems contacting Sky , awful customer service , on demand tv is cheaper buying outright an Amazon stick and Apple TV box , and with the latest 4K tvs around £500 we wouldn’t commit to such exorbitant monthly cost for an outdated system, the screen isn’t even 120hz !
