Balconies on the new Princess ships are disappointing in the mini suites. We’ve always gone for a mini suite and the balcony is definitely much bigger with footstools.
would have been nice if you had commented on the sleeping situation. I see a queen bed and a sofa bed. is that all ? there is no upper bed in a mini suite?
In this particular room there was no pulldown, but I can't speak to all of them, as there are several different categories with slightly different configurations. I'll try to get 3rd/4th berth info for future tours, as I'll admit it's not something I usually check on. Thanks for watching.
Just watched you on Jay's live stream at Port Everglades so I decided to check out your channel since you seemed to really have "insider" knowledge of the industry. Anyway, I love the Princess mini-suite, but that balcony is very small. I had a mini-suite on the Royal Princess (same class as Sky but older) and my balcony was much larger. Not sure if that is due to location or if Princess has shrunk the balconies on the newer Royal class ships???
You built up my knowledge and here I am about to reply with a "I don't know". Let me see if I can find out if other mini suites on Sky have different verandahs. As far as I know the only major structural differences within the Royal Class is the Sea Walk bar, which makes me think the balcony size in this case is location dependent and not a feature of the ship, but I'll see what I can find.
We've not done an inside on Princess, but we did tour one on Sky Princess. The layout of the one we saw was a bit different, but perfectly comfortable and serviceable. Similar decor, just no window, of course. I would recommend, for inside rooms, some type of alarm clock that gently brings the light up to emulate the sun. Waking up in a completely dark room makes it easy to sleep much too long. That is, for us, the only real downside of inside rooms. Otherwise we don't mind them at all. I can't speak to the size of the balcony on other locations of this room type, or on standard verandah (non-mini suites) on the same ship. While we found it surprisingly small, for us, we use the balcony more for a place to get five minutes of fresh air, so it wasn't an issue. I certainly appreciate that it's too small for someone who likes spending a lot of time out there.
