I've admittedly seen ALL of your cruise vlogs, so I feel I'm justified in saying: your trip to St. John is by far your absolute best snorkeling & beach footage. By far. The water! So many stinkin' turtles! 😍 You guys know how to live your best lives. Please keep doing it! Even if Jay couldn't keep up with Dee in order to translate Snork into English... But those turtles, y'all! O. M. G. Spaces and all. Omg. 😍🤘
We started as a music channel, so we've definitely got a handful of complete songs on the channel from back in the day, ha ha... but we try to tread carefully with the music copyright laws these days!! :P
THANK YOU SO MUCH for showing your complete journey to St. John from the "far dock" at St. Thomas! I've asked you about this in the past and you gave me great advice, so I'm going to take your knowledge here and apply it to my goal of setting foot on yet another USVI! a THANK YOU!
So many WOW's about this video....the turtles...what were those fish getting excessively close...and WOW....Jay & Dee....Karaoke....what voices you two have!
Those fish are remora or suckerfish, and they help keep the turtles and rays clean, while also using them as a source of protection from predators, I suppose... kinda cool!! :D
Many years ago, almost 27, we went to St John, with NCL, took a ship tour, they stopped the ship in front of St. John, let us out to a boat and after we did the whole island, we were taken back to St Thomas on a hydrofoil boat, interesting, Trunk Bay is supposed to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and after being there we totally agreed. Thank you for taking us back.
Aawwww what a fun comment ...thank u for sharing your memories w us all... our fam has enjoyed these adventures as well and Dee's dives....well we seem to see old turtle 😀friends as she shares her lovely footage.
I went to St. John in the early 70's, and there were very few people there. You could go to any beach and have it all to yourself some days. It amazed me to see the crowds.
Oh SO MANY TURTLES!!! That was excellent! I loved it when you slapped the buoy, and also when Dee called you her "bae"! Great job with the duet harmonization in the Karaoke! This was a fun video❣
Parrots in the Piazza reminds me of Princess Alaska cruises with Puppies in the Piazza (they let you pet them) usually in Skagway. In Juneau, Iditarod winner Libby Riddles comes on for a lecture as well as brings at least one sled dog. You really should consider Alaska cruise on Princess sometime.
Was looking to do St John’s for my cruise this February, but it doesn’t look like we will have enough time. So thank you 🙏 your video is the only one I could find about the ferry to St John’s
So glad you could get to St. John. I went to St. John a few months after hurricane Maria and saw a lot of damage and few facilities were open, glad to see they haven rebuilt.
WOWZA! That was a fun full day! Love your underwater video Dee. You got to see so many things. I I liked all the events they had in that one room. You could just sit there all evening and have a wonderful time. 😊
Yay I am so glad you want to st.John my family and I when I was young we did a cruise, and then we stopped there and then we loved cinnamon bay campground, and stayed there for the rest of our Christmas until we could not do it again
A great day! I really want to go to St. John. I’ll be in St. Thomas in February on the Celebration. I’ve never been to Magen’s Bay so I’m going there. Next time St. John! How nice that the couple gave you a ride! Thanks for sharing!
Loved your redirection to Maho Bay and so many turtles!! I loved Trunk Bay and exploring the underwater snorkeling trail - hope you get to go in the future!
Loved that y'all got to St. John. We have been there many times thru family in laws condo. Believe me you barely touched the surface of things to do. We go to Trunk Bay when no ships are port and the others on cruise ship days. Many fine restaurants, but not cheap.
That excursion to St John's looked awesome! So cool you were able to get a ride to do some snorkeling and turtle watching! What was up with the fish 'piggy backing' the turtles? Interesting stuff! Will have to check out the Virgin Islands soon! Thinking a December 2024 trip..:)
Those fish are remora or suckerfish, and they help keep the turtles and rays clean, while also using them as a source of protection from predators, I suppose... kinda cool!! :D
You are spot on, to go to saint John on a longer day. I use to got to trunk bay all the time when I was younger. It is beautiful, hope you get there soon. They still call the Ferry Red Hook?🚢😊
Loved the turtle snorkeling! Those remora love a free ride 🤣. I'm on Princess in April and also stopping in St. Thomas. It's my only port I haven't scheduled anything. Any must-do items for a first-timer?
Nice! You should be at the Havensight port as well if you’re on Princess. We covered most of our ideas in a dedicated Port Guide episode actually, if you hadn’t seen that by chance. :D www.parodeejay.com/portguides
I don't remember if we've ever gotten into it in a vlog, hah... Those fish are remora or suckerfish, and they help keep the turtles and rays clean, while also using them as a source of protection from predators, I suppose... kinda cool!! :D
This is exactly what I was looking for. I have wanted to go since my first cruise, but never had the courage to do it. What taxi do you take and which city is the ferry dock in?
If you dock at Havensight as we did, you take a taxi to the Red Hook ferry terminal. If you dock at Crown Bay, there's a ferry that runs straight from there to St. John, but the timing is usually awful, so you still might want to catch a taxi to Red Hook.
We’re finally doing this in a few weeks so thanks for the road map! Question on sunscreen. Reef safe (real reef safe) only. Any experience with any specific type?
After a bit of research, we ended up going with a Sun Bum variety and a Babo Botanicals that seemed a bit more delicate. Both are actually in our Amazon shop in the Health & Beauty section at the bottom, hah. They've served us well!! :D parodeejay.com/amazon/ #ad
@@parodeejay thanks for all the tips. we have a party of 5 so I'll be hearding cats to and fro! Question - what time did you leave Maho Bay to make the 4:00pm ferry? I'm guessing around 3:00? 30 minute ride or longer? Reply when able and thanks again for all the tidbits.
From what we've read, the national park service does not charge an admission fee there at Trunk Bay, so you wouldn't need your pass. All visitors are required to pay the $5 "Expanded Amenity Fees" though.
We put the date in the upper left corner at the start of every video, as well as down in the video description, just so folks can keep track! Ours was the week after Thanksgiving!! :D
