Sky Railway at the Santa Fe Railyards!

Sky Railway operates different excursions between Santa Fe and Lamy, New Mexico. On this beautiful Sunday afternoon, we catch the Santa Fe Scenic train as it departs Santa Fe for a round trip to Lamy.
Returning later that afternoon, the passengers disembark and the crew adds the Acoma and Silver Iris to the consist, in addition to a flatcar observation platform. The equipment will be used in the filming of the Movie “Oppenheimer” which was written and directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey Jr.

Great work Tom, capturing the Sky RR in perfect light. The zany paint scheme is actually starting to grow on me through your images. And thanks for the heads up about 'Oppenheimer', as that is the first I heard of it.

I was riding this train last month on March 12 and it had both locomotives 93 and 07 on each end.

Great video. Got me thinking about traveling to New Mexico again. Has the Sky Railway made any improvements at the old Lamy railyard?

No, thank goodness. They have cleaned the place up quite a bit though.

The movie is being shot in NM but how SFSR equipment will be used is something I don't know.

It’s a GP16 rebuilt from a GP7. I doubt it has HEP.

GP10's were freight locomotives and never had HEP generators. That is a GP16. The first car in the consist has a 480v generator that supplies power to the entire train. You can hear it as it goes by at 1:19.
