very clear and nicely paced guide, thank you. It would also be cool to see guides of dynamic home point RTH in: tracking mode, low battery, loss signal
I believe the Anafi does the same thing on RTH, it comes back and hovers overhead waiting for the final command to land. I don't think I ever came across the feature that allows you to change home points on the map by tapping, this is really cool. And video quality looked beautiful as your were filming at golden hour. Great testing.
Thanx. Just got my Skydio 2. I've done set up and wanted to check out some first flight info. Also looks like my phone is not compatible with the controller - so must get a new phone. 😬
@@IdahoQuadcopter This'll be my seventh drone. Current active UAS - which I am holding onto - is an Autel EVO 1 (doesn't even need a phone to fly). But, I have use for the obstacle avoidance of the Skydio 2 to use in conjunction with the Autel UAS.
i did n't know you lived near mountains... what ski resorts if any are there? love my skydio. i am working on some skydio videos again too. so much fun flying it!
Thank you Sean! Yes, Bogus Basin ski resort is on top of that mountain that I had the S2 facing. Bundage and Tamarack resorts are about 1 1/2 hours North. Sun Valley is about a three hour drive.
Nice video. It would be a GREAT video if there were some arrows incorporated in the video frames to point to buttons on the controller or touchpoints. We can hear you talking about some of the buttons. No need to remake the video, just some editing with pointers or maybe a short intro to point to the places you will be touching during the instructional. We see the pointing with your finger to the controller buttons. It would be great to freeze the frame and expand the video to provide an arrow to the button that you are talking about. Thanks for posting this. This is just a suggestion for some editing to turn this into an EPIC demonstration.
Excellent! You answered some of my questions on point! I think the biggest challenge with these automated features are simply gaining trust and confidence. So far so good. Have you played with the Beacon and how to get it to return to the location of the Beacon?
Nice review! People who use Skydio 2 to track themselves in specialty watersports like surfing or kiteboarding will only have the beacon with them in a waterproof pouch. Users like us need a RTH button on the beacon! Better yet we need a low-battery-auto-return-to-home function that does not require any command input. Imagine being out in large surf and you wipeout in the impact zone and are not even be able initiate RTH while getting tossed around in the whitewash. Operators like us need an auto low battery RTH to the launch point where it will actually land instead of hover. Unfortunately 99% of Skydio reviewers (and users for that matter) test and operate under nice controlled dry land conditions, which is ironic since Skydio loves to show their drone following windsurfers, kiteboarders, and surfers in their promotional videos. Oh well, dare to dream. Great drone, but there is this whole world out there beyond dry land tracking......
@@Skydio After 6 months, skydio2 will fall into the water because there is no RTH setting at low voltage. No one who enjoys water sports wants it. This is the biggest reason why skydio2 cannot be used in water sports.
The one thing for sure that is impressive is that on RTH the obstacle avoidance takes a lot of worries away. Also it returns in reverse I believe because the antennas are in the rear of the drone. Someone previously stated on a different video that you can change the RTH orientation of flight in the app but I’m not sure that is possible.
Wow, Marcus bro.... I didn't know that when this drone starts to come home via the RTH function, it doesn't first yaw/turn towards the Home Point, but I saw it fly home Backwards, twice! Amazing stuff, can you actually make it turn towards home and then move or will it always start moving towards home without yawing/turning, it just hovers to home facing the last direction you left it pointing towards.. Sweet Keep well and be safe Marcus! Very nice video, I love it! Sweet 🔜🛸 😁
@@IdahoQuadcopter wow. Really, so how do you find your way around!? Do you use the map or something? Isn't there a way to tell your orientation so you know which way the drone is facing?
3:40 Funny how the drone is only 200m away in line of sight and video feed as seen on the phone screen is already choppy ... Skydio, still wants people think that range is 3.5km 🤣 Marcus is always so polite pointing out any flaws :)
