An approximate time line of sorts:
0:11 I pitch my main PC at about 3,200 ft
0:18 canopy open, but I'm not yet aware of problem, checking traffic and attempted to do left rear riser turn to turn towards DZ and away from traffic.
0:20 left turn failed, right turn/spin instead, and I'm now becoming aware there is a problem with canopy
0:23 pop right brake to try to fix (its clear its the right side problem) while I used the left rear riser to try to stop spin,
0:33 dropped right toggle, presumably having decided its time to chop. Hands go down to handles
0:36 right side riser (non-rsl side) releases
0:44 nearly fully open reserve (so ~8 secs to open?)
0:49 I can see my altimeter showing: ~1,200 ft
So, I spent maybe 13-15 secs after realizing there was some sort of problem before I decided to chop it. Reserve took ~8 seconds from activation to be fully opened; and I'm not very excited about how long that is.
BTW, although I say I dropped my cutaway handle, it turns out it remained with me as the long cable was still in the channel, and discovered that after I landed.
