SKYFALL and the BOND 50 Collection are here! More at 007.com!
When it comes to cultural icons, James Bond is one of the biggest and most influential. These past 50 years we've been able to experience 007s finest adventures on the big screen, including last year with the excellent SKYFALL which shattered box office records. This piece, set to Adele's 'Skyfall', revisits Bond's adventures, from Dr. No to Skyfall, taking you through the various eras of the Bond legacy. Get those Martinis ready!
This is in no way a full retrospective of the Bond films, the only way to truly live 007's adventures is by seeing them yourself. And what better way to do that than with the Bond 50 Collection on Blu-ray! Each film has been restored to its former glory with pristine picture quality. They really outdid themselves with the 4K restoration process and so every frame of footage used in this video is straight from the source, maintaining the best possible quality from edit to upload.
Footage from 'Dr. No', 'From Russia With Love', 'Goldfinger', 'Thunderball', 'You Only Live Twice', 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', 'Diamonds Are Forever', 'Live and Let Die', 'The Man with the Golden Gun', 'The Spy Who Loved Me', 'Moonraker', 'For Your Eyes Only', 'Octopussy', 'A View to a Kill', 'The Living Daylights', 'Licence to Kill', 'Goldeneye', 'Tomorrow Never Dies', 'The World Is Not Enough', 'Die Another Day', 'Casino Royale', 'Quantum of Solace' and 'Skyfall' remains courtesy of MGM, United Artists and Columbia Pictures Inc.
'Skyfall', written by Adele and Paul Epworth, produced by Paul Epworth and performed by Adele, remains courtesy of XL Recordings/Columbia Records, Ⓟ 2012.
Edited by Kees van Dijkhuizen jr., © 2013. 'SKYFALL: 50 Years of Bond' was a non-profit project made solely for entertainment purposes, not aimed at breaking copyright law. All rights to all material remain courtesy of their respective owners.

I'm a huge Bond fan and I've seen a million montages of clips and soundbites from the series but this is well and truely the best I've ever seen. Puts the Academy Awards tribute to shame, and rightfully so.

Ugh, if they had shown this at the Oscars, then have Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig step out in tuxedos, it would have been one of the most epic Oscar moments in history. They were all still alive and well at the time. Such a missed opportunity.

That would be amazing, i have a cool idea for when the next bond actor gets revealed where they do the gun-barrel sequence but on stage and with an unevenly cut red curtain for the blood

That only shows how little interested the Academy is with the James Bond franchise. As a Bond fan, I was really disappointed with its tribute video in that Oscar ceremony.

Reason why I love this tribute more than the one they showed at the Oscars: this tribute features ten times more clips from Dalton's Bond films than in the Oscars. Dalton deserves more credit for playing JB.

Timothy Dalton makes a great Time-Lord in Doctor Who. Even in an interview, Dalton knew all the names of the actors who played various incarnations of the Doctor including Hartnell or the great Tom Baker. I also liked Dalton in the movie "The Rocketeer."

"Made weak by time..." (Roger Moore, who stayed too long in the role) "...and fate..." (Timothy Dalton, who never got to do a 3rd Bond movie because of legal issues) ABSOLUTELY AWESOME EDITING. Kudos.
@thejesster1104
@thejesster1104 9 лет назад
I always noticed how well edited it was, when Dalton's eyes lift up simultaneously with the word "fate", seemingly responding to the word but I hadn't thought of the context that he never got his planned next movie (most of us know that Dalton was originally going to be in GoldenEye but I also read somewhere that in around 1991 they were planning for a film called "Property of a Lady", also with Dalton. So realistically, he could have been in at least 2 more films) due to what some would call "fate". I also had noticed before "When worlds collide and days are dark" shows the first time we see Dalton as Bond, who as we know, was the "darkest" Ian Fleming faithful portrayal up until that point. Good job catching the Roger Moore "made weak by time" moment. I hadn't noticed that but I guess I could add that it's fitting how "heroic hearts" lines up with Lazenby in OHMSS/Tracy's death, that being easily one of the most emotional and heart full moments in the series!
@stuffedsheepshead
@stuffedsheepshead 9 лет назад
Jesse Bond Indeed. It's upsetting that Dalton only got to do two films. Many people consider him to be a poor Bond for reasons lacking such nuance. They say he was bad because he was only in two movies; there is no correlation there. Of course the change from a lighthearted Roger Moore to a more serious and dark portrayal that Timothy Dalton brought, would've been jarring for some. Had Dalton got his third film, I'm sure many of the audience who disliked him initially would've warmed to him. He certainly put a great deal more effort into the role than his predecessors, reading all of the Fleming novels and trying to figure out who this man was. Shame.

Brian Lindsey I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but another one I noticed was that "but strong in will" was superimposed over a shot of Craig, who keeps valiantly returning to the series despite feeling he is too old to keep up the necesary energy.

@needamuffin
@needamuffin 9 лет назад
Matthew Williams Everyone assumes Christoph will be Blofeld. It's been confirmed that he will play Bond's ski instructor. I know that given the circumstances, keeping Blofeld a secret would be good, but I'm hopeful that that secret is kept for several more movies. You were aware of his presence in the first few movies, but you don't ever actually see him until a fair ways into the series. I would love to see a similar thing happen this time.
@needamuffin
@needamuffin 9 лет назад
Havel Clyde A part of me feels this way too. The older movies were goo and all, but Casino Royale is my favorite movie of all time for a reason. It stripped away the corny dialog, the ridiculous gadgets, and left only pure, unadulterated Bond broken by what he had become. You can almost see it happening in real time with Vesper. One minute he's in love, the next "The job is done. The bitch is dead." I'm sure SPECTRE won't be as campy as Die Another Day and it will be handled well, but I certainly don't miss those aspects.
@stuffedsheepshead
