Bridget Pettis, a name I used to hear when I started watching the WNBA since it first started in 1997. I think she played with the Phoenix Mercury with Jennifer Gillom. Great to know that she still is connected with wbb after she retired from playing.
I've always admire her skills since she was with the wings. She can freaking play. I hope she plays for the storm for a long time til she retires. Will embrace you in Seattle. Can't wait to watch you play.
These straight women that have HUSBANDS and like men, should not be bullied by the LGBTQ community. I don't discriminate against ANYONE but I understand these women speaking up without pointing fingers. If she said, she didn't fit in, its because of the culture of WNBA players.
I don't begrudge anyone to live whatever their lifestyle is...just don't push up on someone that doesn't. I know some of the WNBA players have wives... fiancees and girlfriends. That's fine. The problem is when you start making someone that doesn't share your lifestyle choices feel uncomfortable. Even if comments are made jokingly or unwanted touches it becomes sexual harassment... teammates or coworkers.

You are making a lot of baseless assumptions my boy! I think Skylar had a lot of issues with team ownership not supporting her while she was pregnant. One issue is they didn't allow her to use the facilities after having the baby while she was on maternity leave. That's been a problem in women's sports including Allyson Felix issues with Nike after having her child.

I am not going to speculate on what affected her mental strength bcs I don’t need to know. I’m just grateful that she had the support she needed and that she felt strong enough to share part of her journey. Ppl need to know that if’s ok to admit when they’re not ok. Mental health is not always easy to maintain. I’ve been ride or die for the WNBA to succeed since day one, many moons ago. I appreciate what they’re up against and it’s an industry that I’d love to see continually expand. Female basketball players went forever without a professional home in the US. I’m proud of her for making it through ✊🏽👑❤️
This is my first year attempting to watch an entire wnba season. And Skylar Diggins-Smith and the Seattle Storm is the team I’m deciding to root for and follow.
I cannot fathom Skylar at 200 plus pounds. Props to her and Bridget for pulling her out of a dark space and getting her mind and body right for atleast one more run.

The underlying questions of 'lesbian pressure' in the league needs to be addressed. Whether it's true or not, the perception is there and hurting the league. Personally I think all these players are used to playing with gay or straight women going back to their college teams and know where to draw the line. If some are overly aggressive, they need to be pointed out and 'cancelled' like Weinstein and other predators.

Someone said it in the comments. Could Caitlin Clark be hated and bullied because she’s straight? She’s a beautiful young lady who’s engaged to a young man and people actually like her acting like a lady and not pretending to be a man like most of that league. I believe there are some straight women in the wnba that are being forced to act gay, or else their teammates will turn on them.

Skylar’s journey really should be a documentary. I truly believe she paved the way for players like Brink and Reese who had model-like brands off of the court. She truly is the WNBAs first Barbie. Can you imagine her during NIL?
As much the WNBA has grown, some say cause the woman more beautiful, some say talent has risen, some say cause of Caitlyn Clark, but man if there's stories like this to show how human we are, the people will stay and support for the long run. I hope the WNBA looks for stories like this. It will truly make the WNBA unique and breath of fresh air. There's such an appetite for highlights and to knock the man down in front of you content like this isn't needed and probably there just wont be no care. FOR THE W? The "I don't fit in" comment flew over alot of people heads. 98% of the league is apart of the letter group. So that 2% that's straight knows what's going on but keeps quiet for job security.
This is why I'm bothered by the Caitlin Clark talk saying "she'll need to adjust to the league" by all the veterans. Yes what they are saying is technically true but I know why they are saying that and that is what bothers me.

I would think that the WNBA is an extremely difficult work environment for a hetero woman. I have personally witnessed LGB women that are very openly aggressive in their pursuit of presumably hetero women. The league needs to take a stand on this situation.
