I don't get why this is not more popular, because the way they depict 'daydreams' here perfectly encapsulated my past as a socially-outcast person, who constantly daydreamed suddenly becoming super cool and can do cool shit whenever I'm in a bad situation lol. Great music & video combo.

Okay it's been a minute but iirc he wasn't singing at first, just producing. Then the whole Pepsi controversy, he ended up dropping the Saint Pepsi alias. As he did he started singing and got criticized for it, some fans felt like he wasn't "Saint Pepsi" anymore as his music drifted apart from that pure future funk sound. Hence I think it's a double entendre between singing/sinning and saint/Saint Pepsi. But maybe I'm thinking too much into it. Thanks for reminding me of this track tho lol

I guess I understand the metaphor behind the whole videoclip and the song, but I'm still just being an armchair analyst. The song is a retrospective on his past self and how, despite starting as a nerd on a computer, became wildly popular through his musical persona. The first girl could represent an actual past flame or his first original public, both would work in the context. through the music he was making, he was a popular and talented genius, but inside he felt like he was still the meek nerd he always was. In the end, through this musical persona, he ended up conquering her (his public?) even though he was not exactly the person he was portraying himself to be and might never actually felt confident in conquering her, but at the end of the line, he started wondering which part of himself she actually loved. Was it the actual real him or the persona of the trendy artist that he was parading around? This lead to an existential crisis where he could no longer make the difference between the image he was projecting and his insecure persona he kept locked inside. Terrified at the idea of losing her, he was faced with no other option but to face himself and find out what part of him was actually the real deal and which one was the pretender. In a final dance off, the Artistic persona wins the game and takes her away from him, revealing that his initial flame was only interested in the mask he kept wearing and not the human behind it. Still, despite his loss, he finally realized that, at the end of the line, there was another girl waiting for him to come out of his shell (his devoted fanbase seeing his genuine talent and only waiting for him to be more confident in his abilities.). He realises this, picks up the jacket and finally reunite both ends together, realising that there never was a separate persona and that they were one and the same all along. The girl who stuck along for the whole ride gets invited to a dance and finally enjoys the coming out of the person she always trusted in.
