Yep, just looked up some numbers. A 1974 Mercury (2 stroke obviously) 150hp motor weighed in at 275lbs. That new 150hp Honda 4-stroke weighs in around 480lbs. A full 200lbs heavier! Yikes!

When I was a kid in the 80s & 90s in Vegas there were monster Stripers below Hoover dam, 40-50+ lbs were common. For all I know they still are, moved east 20 years ago.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed in this episode as well. In the past they'd bleep out f-bombs. Like you, I don't mind hearing it myself, but if my kids repeat that at school it's going to be a headache for me and my wife. I'll watch the next episode alone and if they decide not to change things it just won't be a show my kids can watch anymore.

%100 agree. This is probably some of the worst content I have seen from the meat eater crew. I get not all shows are kid friendly but just a small warning for those of us who have grown accustomed to great family friendly shows would have gone a long way. Das Boat should not have had a 3rd season with out Steve. He made the show with his story telling. This new guy just does not have the talent that Steve has for telling a good story.

Yes, I am a huge MeatEater fan and left disappointed by the language in this series.

Disappointed as well. I watched the last two seasons with my kids but we won’t be watching this one. Personality can come across without the lazy language.

I watched one episode of b-side with my kids and that was enough. Looks like Das boat so may get the same treatment.

@@jaadmaan8156 I appreciate where you're coming from, though that's not quite what I said. I said we used to be able to keep a ton, meaning the limit was 20 or 25 a day. Now it's down to single digits and there was no incremental drop. It fell off the table. Responsible anglers rely on limits being set in the right place, though I'm not totally absolving myself of responsibility. I never exceeded legal take and can only think of one day in my life where I took home my legal limit. The way the Blues dropped off suggests that either someone was asleep at the wheel on setting limits or that the drop-off is due to something other than overfishing. Just my $.02.

Have you seen the used boat market since covid? We're lucky they got anything. Let's be grateful for whatever we get right now ;-) It's gonna be a great season!

I think it's a culture thing. It's NorthEast themed and that word is part of the culture there. Kind of like c*nt in Australia.
