@@louisvaccaro5865 Just the lead singer, Jimmy Beaumont. Donna Groom (who is still with them) had recently replaced another young lady who replaced the late Janet Vogel, who died in 1980 and was the last of the originals in the group besides Jimmy.
In 1959 i was seventeen I joined the air force the best time of my life. Im eghity two if I could go back in time thats where I would go. Write now, im crying, knowing i dont know how much time i have to live. This music brings be back. All i know is my heat aches. Knowing I cant go back.
You are not alone. I would go back to the 60s in a heartbeat. I'm 71 and worry about those dependent on me as I don't know how long I have either. I'm grateful I grew up in the 50s & 60s. We were taught things that youngsters today cannot conceive - we were resourceful in every way. It came across in the music also. Kids today don't have a clue.
I was so fortunate to have grown up during era 50's 60's best love songs, beautiful music, great talented groups, never get tired of listening," Since I don't have you " it's etched forever in my memory, always in the top 10 no doubt.
When I used to babysit my sister's children, I would play this on her record player, it's a miracle I didn't ware out the record. One of my fav all time groups❤ the "Skyliners" 😊
I am 76 and loved these songs followed by the amazing 60s I loved being young but look forward to an even better future in Heaven, leaving the Earth with its troubles, hope to see you there? 😀
One of the best Doo wop songs ever sung. Cruising in a 57 Chevy. 4 on the floor. Bench seats. Glass pipe muffler. Reverberator hooked to radio. Top down cruiser sound.. u couldn’t buy those times today. It’s world that I lived in and there is nothing on earth I would trade for those times
50 + years has passed..... and we are still listening to this awesome music....One of my favorite group 1959.... I was still in GS...... Haven't even started JHS... But I was still out there loving all The Skyliners music..... This was one of their 1st songs right here..... Since I don't have You ..... Live......What a treat.....
What a way to grow up..... It's such a different feeling with these songs I favor because I was there....Growing up right along with these groups.....It's more than just a song.....It was a big part of my life back then......The Skyliners was right on top of my list.....from 1958.....Bought every song they recorded......
He always loved his fans. Was with him in car once just after we recorded an ad for a show at WCBS FM Ron Lundy called him out saying Hey Johnny thanks for stopping by. He then played Worst that could happen. Johnny was jeweled. Made my day too.
i haven't left those days yet... ))) i am still listening to all these wonderful songs that takes me back to my life that so wonderful..... It was my best years... I will always keep it alive....
Love love love thg his song. One of my favorites. Wish could go back in time. Thatd when music was music and singers were singers. They were all so great. Love and miss them all. .😪
Jimmy Beaumont is the greatest Do Wop lead singer bar none. There are many other outstanding voices, Little Anthony, Johnny Maestro, Tony Williams but Beaumont is unique in style and vocal power, just amazing.
Ive loved the music of the Skyliners for about 60 years. Saw them in concert about 100 times. 😀😀😀. Of course I'm a Pittsburgher. Sure do miss Jimmy Beaumont. ❤️❤️❤️
I saw the Skyliners as recently as about 3 years ago at a church bazaar in McKees Rocks, Pittsburgh. They performed for at least an hour, they had a whole band with them, sung all my favorites. I thought it was really nice of them to be there, there was no cover charge so they must have been there gratis. Thank you Skyliners for your wonderful music.
I don't know how I missed this, over the years, but great to see Jimmy, almost 30 years after the original release looking and sounding so good. Donna is tremendous as well as the rest of the group.
Just went to my 50th high school reunion last weekend. Gee we are getting old, however this beautiful music still lives on and wasn't it such a great time to grown up in!!! I can't believe the current generation as 60+ yrs old listening to rap??
It is so refreshing to see that there is still real talent in the world - the strings may be sequenced, but these folks can sing, which is what put the song across in the first place. An outstanding performance!
This record was sold out in the city where I lived. My mother was on a trip in New York. She asked me what I wanted her to bring me back for a souvenir. I told her this record, and she did. I still have that 45 rpm.
I love this song so much! To me is one of the greatest love songs ever! An incredibly powerful song with words you can't shake the music either. Thanks to the great Skyliners!
I was waiting all through the song to see if she would really go for it... wow! She hit it exactly. Jimmy sounded fantastic live. No special FX. That IS singing.
I so agree with you. I could have written this comment as you covered all my thoughts. Where did those days go? Friday night dances, Ladies choice, etc.... Such happy times..
Look at all the wonderful memories.. The Skyliners has shared with many of us.. I have been one of the ones that was out on the dance floor at the teen clubs.. in the 60's dancing my heart out.. with this fantastic group.. 50 years later.. I am still listening to their music.. How in the world can you ever get tired of "The Skyliners.". ..
GROWING UP WITH GROUPS AND MUSIC LIKE THIS WAS THE BEST PART OF MY YOUTH......IT WAS'NT JUST ONE BUT ONE RIGHT AFTER THE OTHER FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS......THE BEST MUSIC ERA EVER......HUGS, BOB S. FOX
This is just a Classic Video! Look how young--and, what a knock-out, Donna was--and, still is! We were all so much younger--I was 40 y/o, and in the best shape of my life, in '86. Jimmy, Donna, and all, Thank-you so much for this vid, and all the years of great music! Wolfsky9
It's funny that I can remember all the lyrics for 57 years but I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday. Wonderful rendition; especially liked the high notes at the end.
YEP.... I DO THE SAME THING TOO..... I STILL HAVE THE 45'S... FROM 16 CANDLES... THE CREST... THE SKYLINERS ."THIS I SWEAR"----"SINCE I DON;T HAVE YOU" WAS # 1... BUT NOW I HAVE FOUND MANY I LOVE AS MUCH...... THIS MUSIC MY DEAR.... IS IN OUR BLOOD... WE HAVE LIVED THIS LIFE.. IT IS BURIED IN OUR SOUL....
