Skyrim Nolvus Ascension My Honest Review

Great video the music is a bit overpowering over your voice at times though.

nolvus is the GOAT. it got me back into skyrim 10 fold. skyrim is my childhood game and it’s lovely to see a mod pack so large, it brings that whim back. makes me feel like a kid experiencing the game for the first time again.

Clicks on video to learn more about Nolvus. Instead gets a simulation of a full orchestral concert. Featuring some guy talking in your ear just loud enough to be distracting, who you are trying to ignore so you can get more of the music.

I've been modding skyrim for like a decade. I have had playthroughs with 10 mods and 1000 mods. Having a pre built installer is fantastic. I definitely recommend. Esspecially if you're like me and forced yourself through manual mod installs until you found Mo2 was a thing 😂 I still have CTD ptsd.

Nolvus was the easiest to install for me and changed the game for what I was looking for as far as escaping the vanilla game which I had gotten tired of. So I recommend it graphically and indeed if you’re tired of the vanilla version and other mods that require so much work. This is easy and tons of hours of fun.

I don’t know of this is already a thing. But if anyone from the Nolvus team or anyone who creates mods that have ended up in Nolvus reads this, I have what I think is an amazing suggestion. In more modern games based around medieval style combat it’s fairly common for the guards to have some kind of class system. This is what’s missing from this mod list. A class system for the guards that divides them by rank. Each city or town should have a captain of the guard and a number of lieutenants . These soldiers should be a higher level than the regular guards. Additionally, what would be really cool is some illusion spells that have the effect of scaring enemies. Such as summoning an illusionary dragon that cannot deal any damage but scares the regular guards, while the lieutenants and guard captain see through the ruse and charge you anyway. And more guards. Lots of them. So that there’s a real sense of being overwhelmed in combat if you’re caught doing something you shouldn’t. Enough guards that you actually have to flee. Even in vanilla Skyrim at low levels I found it relatively easy to beat the guards. You just have to be persistent. A lot of that is to do with the fact that the guards aren’t that smart. So an overhaul of the AI for enemies would be great as well. And those new player combos should be usable by enemies as well. With all the context dependent variables too. I know that’s a lot. But imagine how crazy the game would feel running around Solitude or Markarth fighting guards wielding spears doing crazy flipping attacks, quick-fire bow combos and whirling sword attacks. Additionally, being arrested should have more weight. There should be some kind of trial. Or you should be allowed to request a trial by combat should you be arrested and if you decide not to fight, you should be able to elect a champion from one of your companions.

I think you may want to consider reposting turning down the music a lot at certain points its hard to hear you speak. Up to you though of course

Playing with this mod collection has been quite the Rollercoaster. Overall really good if you don't mind the occasional crashes, sometimes quests not working properly and some NPC interactions glitching out. But hey, it's understandable, we are talking about 2K+ mods running. I give it a 8/10, mainly for the combat. Combat is waaaay better than vanilla, like holy shit.

Some constructive feedback - at points, the b-roll music is too loud and makes it hard to understand what you’re saying. =)

I think the fsr 3 fg mod will work well with this setup. To get 60fps, all you gotta do is render 30fps and lock it to 30fps so FG will double it to 60. Obviously, you can get more fps by raising the locked fps limit from 30 to something higher.

I'm hearing about Nolvus for the first time. Does anyone know when V6 drops? Idk if I should wait or not

I prefer the alternate Leveling system. You can level freely and do whatever you want, and You don't have to powerlevel some skills. Especially conjuration, you can't level Conjuration normally in Vanilla, because you only get Exp when you summon Something. Not when Minions kill Something

The classic levelling system in Skyrim is just great. If you don't want to exploit it you don't. If you do, the option is there for you. I hate locked up, streamlined systems like the alternative one - I think I quit playing mainly because of that "you need to do X to progress any further" loop. It's the worst "upgrade" of the pack I think and should be left out

That music is too loud compared to your voice. Music with a much higher pitch than the speakers voice doesn't help either.

Honestly can’t hear a thing you’re saying. Music is ultra distracting.

Ordinator is lame as hell. i already hate how Bethesda make enemies bullet sponges and Ordinator makes it even more spongy. i prefer wildcat because both you and the enemies pretty much die in one hit.
