Ive always loved the sound of the Mk1 cars when they begin to depart the station. I'm from Toronto & I have to admit that the Mk1 cars in Vancouver's Skytrains sound smoother & cleaner than the Mk1 cars on Toronto's Line 3
i took the ttc SRT when i'm small in the early 90s, really like the Mark 1 so much, the motor sound is special, . Glad that Skytrain keeps a lot of Mark 1 (in 6 cars!) , definitely want to visit Vancouver and Skytrain. And the Mark 3s are good looking.
I'd love to be a Skytrain mechanic, I'm fascinated with power and control electronics. How they have the system running so well is amazing. My favourite are the mk 1 and 2 trains. A very distinctive sound, very cool how you can hear the train shift gears!
I see some shade being thrown on the Mk 2 sounds. I know it is such an important debate (lol) The old blocky boys will always have the best noises. Both leaving and stopping at the station they sound iconic and just timeless. The Mk 2, however, holds a special place for me. That "futuristic" woooooosh they make pulling away from the station, coupled with their sleek design (which I still find more appealing than the look of the Mk 3 tbh), is just the perfect thing to be reminded of their namesake. Millennium. Y2K. The future! So far gone now and so nostalgic.
Would love to see the mark 1 trains stay in service hope translink keeps them longer since they have been refurbished to bad they did not add the air conditioning though
That...makes sense. The MK 1's do sound really cool. But do you know that the MK 2 second generation sounds the same as the MK 3? The MK 3 is just quieter. However the MK 2 first generation does sound pretty bad.
Mandison Luk The reason why I like Mark 3 and hate Mark 2 2nd generation is because Mark 3 has awesome design and sounds quieter then The Mark 2 second generation which is loud and no cool design same goes with Mark 2 1st generation but Mark 1 sounds cool
