This 100% works as described. I'm a harry homeowner with a slab leak, well who had a slab leak. Im straight poor, i couldn't even afford a fancy jig like they recommend. I simply filled my lines with hot water, I knew where the leak was because it was audible and i could see it with a FLIR under my hardwood on the slab. I purchased this for 90$ kneaded it myself , made the ball, stuffed it in my hotwater line and wished it well. Within 2 minutes my water meter stopped moving and I could no longer hear the leak. Take in mind this leak would drain my hotwater heater and i would wake every morning to a cold shower, high electric bill and water bill. This system works as stupid as it sounds. Just looking at it i thought WTF an airsoft ball and some 2 part epoxy. Man was i wrong, best 90$ I've ever spent.

Would suggest mixing the epoxy with clean dry gloves, prevent oil from your body from getting mixed in, weakening the epoxy Not sure if you allowed enough time for the pea to drop into the main horizontal pipe before turning on the full pressure. Also turning on the main pressure rapidly might have force the pea to rise in the short vertical drop pipe In the hot water pipe, heat might have caused the epoxy to cure too fast, setting before reaching the leak. A larger pea would have long setting time,

I don't get your version of the hose bib pressure test. You closed the valve, so the gauge is only measuring pressure from the gauge to the hose bib valve. What you're supposed to do is close the WATER MAIN valve and see if the gauge goes down with the hose bib OPEN.

MY NAME IS MICHAEL QUINN AND AS THE OWNER OF THE AQUAPEA FROM QINOV8 UK LTD, I WOULD LIKE TO ADD SOMETHING ON HERE TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SEEN THIS VIDEO OR LEFT A COMMENT. THE TWINS HAVE MADE A GREAT VIDEO TO SHOW/PROVE THE AQUAPEA WORKS BUT THERE'S TWO THINGS I NEED TO MENTION. 1st I DIDN'T SEE THE LEAKAGE VOLUME QUANTIFIED WHICH MEANS TH LEAK MAY HAVE BEEN LESS THAN THE MINIMUM CRITERIA OF 1 GALLON PER MINUTE REQUIRED FOR THE AQUAPEA TO BE ATTRACTED TO THE LEAK BY THE FLOW OF ESCAPING WATER AND 2nd WE DIDN'T ACTUALLY SEE THAT THE LEAK HAD BEEN DETECTED BETWEEN THE HOLE AND THE KITCHEN SINK. NOISE TRAVELS A LONG WAY ON COPPER PIPES SO THE LEAK MAY WELL HAVE BEEN BEHIND THE INSERTION POINT. JUST A COUPLE OF POINTS I WANTED TO RAISE GUYS BECAUSE THE AQUAPEA, AS YOU SAW IN THE TWINS TESTING, IS A FANTASTIC OPTION COMPARED TO RIPPING UP FLOORS. THANKS

I am impressed with what was shown in the video. I have a leak problem on my PE pipeline about 100meters in length. I do not know where exactly the leak location is along that span. Both ends are accessible. I know the nature of the leak because I found 1 leak after this 100meter span, on coupler joint without the rubber o-ring. After fixing that leak, I still got a leak showing on the water meter. I want to try AQUAPEA, where can I buy it?

@@TwinHomeExperts What helps is cutting the water on and off in quick bursts. If you think about the physics of what's happening in that pipe, you're trying to make a solid little ball flow up a vertical with only the pressure and flow of a small pinhole leak through a pipe much bigger than the leak itself. You could look at it in terms of vacuum. It's not enough suction through that small hole to pull anything that high into the pipe. So you gotta shotgun burst the water on and off, so you keep hitting the little ball with bursts of force over and over again, until it eventually hits the leak. I've used this and could not get it to work until I used this method.

As a homeowner, I'd wonder what the cost of trying this method would be. Installing the entryway/port for the polymer to enter the system us one cost added to the mixture if polymer for the test plus man hours and possible service trip charge too. Although it'd be much less than a full repair, if it didn't work then you'd be out that money. Life's a toss up of course and we always look for easy fixes but sometimes it's a waste of time, money, and parts used for the test. Then again, if it worked it would most definitely be a great alternative to a full out repair. Great video and very professionally done.

You could possibly turn off your water supply and use a neighbours garden hose to back inject water into your pipes via your own garden tap, inserting the pea into the hose before quickly connecting.

Wait. How would that gauge tell you that there’s a leak? When you close off that hose bib its sealing the thing off from the plumbing.. plus if the pressure fell the code these days is to have a vacuum breaker on every bib so the air would leak out over time as would water pressure.. but there’s no way either way to put a pressure gauge on a hose bib to tell if a pipe is leaky after you turn off the bib.. if you put a pressure gauge on a bib, turned it on then closed the main shutoff leaving the bib on and turning off any water heater than yea it will show if there’s a leak in the distribution water..

I have water seeping up from the tile in my kitchen. My dishwasher stopped working a couple months ago and I've been using it as a drying rack only. My first thought was that the water from the wet dishes over time leaked or something. I removed the dishwasher today and still having the water seeping up through the tiles. Could it just be water that hasn't dried? Seems like a lot of water. It's also puddling outside the house along the wall behind the dishwasher. Maybe it's a slab leak. That is a scary thought. I turned off the water to the house for now.

@jrcxley
@jrcxley 2 месяца назад
From what I've seen, and as a master plumber, you would have to make an entry point somewhere near the leak. The ball will then go with the flow to the leak. Depending on the severity of the leak, it would either arrive there very quickly or be painfully slow. And if the customers paying you by the hour to stuff around with this process his anxiety would be through the roof.
@jeffreymurdock8366
@jeffreymurdock8366 2 года назад
Problem with going this route is it causes turbulence in the pipe because it now has a bulge on the inside and that turbulence will cause the pipe to fail faster. And then you will be in a worse situation. Have a reputable leek finding plumber find the leak with a probe or other appropriate means and fix the leak correctly. Remember easier isn't always better.

500 foot roll of Pex A for flexibility, maybe 3/4" with a plug in the end of Pex and vacuum at house. 1st pull a cord through using a sponge ball on the cord and the Vacuum, then drill a hole in a plug and attach cord, then do a proper fasten of plug into pex the night before. Use electrical wire lubricant on outside of pex, it is slipperier than soap, buy a gallon, as used to pull wires into conduit, one person continuously adding lubricant, another feeding Pex into poly pipe and a 3rd continuously pulling from house with continuous open communication on speaker phone. Unroll pex back to house the night before before starting so it is basically straight with only 1 large curve going into poly , when pulling in the Pex. If 3/4 proves to be too large try 1/2" and sell your 3/4". Only if needed add a large pressure storage tank at house to make up for the fact that you do not have a 1.25" line. Pex B should also work but you get restrictions at fittings and you are trying to keep full flow to minimize reduced size, also if the Poly has a flattened spot due to damage the extra flex of the Pex A might make a difference in pulling through. Note: I have never needed to do this so is at your own risk, precheck that 3/4" with fitting will fit the 1.25", if really careful get the cord through and just pull a foot of 3/4" through with a cord on both ends, if it can't because of a rock flattening the hose you can use the length in to calculate where to dig. Alternatively you could then try with a 1 foot piece of 1/2" pex a plug and 2 cords, one to pull and 1 to trail and pull back.

I have a good idea exactly where it is because I had a pinhole repair in that area a few years ago and water is seeping up through the concrete cracks. I'm thinking the whole 30' run of lateral copper pipe should be replaced, not just a spot repair. Can a new pipe be run without removing 30' of concrete? Or how about running pex underground? Or running pex through the inside of the existing copper pipe (which I saw someone on youtube do). I'm near Glendale so not too far from you.

The hardest would be main, but it can be done. Note: The green dots (pin holes) can keep occurring in same pipe, so just replace them. Drywall & paint is cheaper than busting floors.

So many times there is a slab leak and customers expect you to fix the spot. Insurance companies pay for the spot not the necessary repipe. I have seen insurance companies only pay for the pipe repair and none of the damage from the leak. People just need to read their policies before diving in.

Can this epoxy work an pvc pipe
@DataToTheZero
@DataToTheZero 3 дня назад
I think you guys shouldn't have kneaded the epoxy. The instructions don't say to do it. So the moisture cure epoxy will cure on it's own. But I'd bet that the epoxy ball is coated in an oil or some other non-stick coating, so that it doesn't get stuck to side of the pipes before getting to the leak!

Hey Guys, I live in Seattle Wa, couple of questions please. Are you still using Aquapea? Can this be purchased and used by a homeowner? I'm trying to find a plumber online that uses the product but not having any luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Lack of followup says it all. The manufacturers website has zero practical info. Looks like the product is a dud.

@@malanalan1 It's a new product and takes time to get out there. We're talking to Fergusons and Home Depo Pro in the USA plus some National Companies. We're also working with several UK water companies in the UK, South Africa, Australia, Israel, Chile, Columbia.... shall I go on ?

Was cold water a faster fix than hot water?
@erikrobles5727
@erikrobles5727 2 года назад
First I can’t ever remember dealing with a cold water slab leak and as for hot water slab leaks it’s almost always cause by a rock or stone that is laying next to the pipe and over time with the expansion and contraction of the pipe causes a hole so with that said if all your doing is plugging the hole isn’t this just a temporary fix since the rock or stone will continue to do it’s thing and eventually just wear though the pipe or your material again??

If it took 20 or ,30 years, if this things buys another 15 I think it's still money well spent.

The flow through the leak brings the pea to the leak. Experiment with hole size to find the optimum. On the job, enlarge the hole if you can get to it. Only a suggestio. You're the experts.

@perezidential
@perezidential 10 месяцев назад
Is this a temporary fix? I've heard that even minor obstructions in the flow of water (such as not taking out the burr after cutting the pipe) creates local turbulence which creates corrosion and eventually another pin hole leak.
@VelocitysMovies
@VelocitysMovies 9 месяцев назад
yes that is the case, this is likely not a great way to fix it long term
@Graffenwehr
@Graffenwehr 8 месяцев назад
I would think that banging on the pipes like that is unrealistic - as you would not be able to that in the field. Also, what about the exterior of the pinhole - and the material protruding through it? Below a slab, I'm guessing that you assume a void has been created by the leak, enabling the material to protrude like that?

Those are pretty big holes... Wouldn't call those pin holes... Just holes. A leak has to have significant flow to be able to push the epoxy up a pipe to the leak... If there is actually a pinhole.. let's say .010 inch, could that be plugged? Probably not. The video is sensational, but in reality if you have a 5/64 hole (.078), that is a real serious leak and I would think that would only be a minority of leaks and "aggressive" as the Twins explain towards the end. I appreciate the twins did explain that at the end.
