I remember I commented on another video of the slab about how I was disappointed I didn't have a 3d printer and thus couldn't make this awesome blaster. I can now! after getting one I can finally print this. Thank you sillybutts for designing a super cool blaster. I love lever actions.

Thanks for creating this. I worked it out myself with your parts. It's a testament to the fitment and build of the parts that I can backwards engineer the hardware needed to put this together successfully. The only question I had was the gap between the priming bars, so cut some aluminum tubing to give structure between the bars and the pins. This was a work of art and had the best time building it. The prime is so fluid like this. Well done.

Just assembled my first of two, printed all on my Prusa Mini +. Used the Out Of Darts kit with the 180 spring. This is my first time doing anything like this, and the SLAB was working beautifully right from assembly. Maybe I need to spend more time around nerf people, maybe I'm just too used to Hasbro's fare, I was expecting it to have a punch but holy guacamole this thing is terrifying, I'd feel guilty pointing it at another person! Side note, I prefer the look of the sights with the sloped sides facing the user.

Fantastic job on this blaster! I'm in the middle of printing out all the pieces and they look great so far! I like the sights you included but just as a suggestion, if you were able to expose the top of the clear filament, this allow more light to hit the clear filament making the dots much brighter.

so i have a really hard time tying the elastic. what i found works, is print a bunch of extra "printed cotter pins" you can use these to add tension to a loose elastic band if you have trouble like I do.

Just built my slab and I already love it! Thank you soo much for designing an awesome blaster for the hobby! I was wondering is there a particular reason why the trigger block and pivot are not printed as one solid piece?
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
If it was one piece, it would snap due to print orientation. As it is now, the different directions of the print is very strong.

This is an awesome project. Thanks for sharing the files and assembly instructions. I have looked through the assembly file, and there are 2 different lengths of plunger rods (~6 in & ~5 in). When would I use the 5" plunger rod vs the 6" plunger rod?
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
The longer one is to fix issues that some people have with catching. The longer one requires using the bottlenose muzzle attachment.

Put this all together today and it works but the power was pretty low, maybe only throwing 15 ft, So I noticed that even when dry firing the ram wouldn't thump the end of the turn around, it was kinda slow, which made me think there was a friction problem, the ram is a little loose but I think it gets a good seal with the oring, so I tried some silicon lube, it worked and didn't sometimes it punch really hard and other times now the darts would fall out the barrel. though maybe it wasn't keeping the pressure due it feeling just a smidge undersize? Tried putting a 2nd o-ring on it and then there was too much friction, it barely moved. Cleaned off all the grease and went back to 1 dry o-ring and I'm still getting inconstant power. my guess is when the plunger rod leaves the catch it's kinda free floating and sometimes the ram get's a little twisted causing extra friction and robbing power. Any recommendations besides try printing the ram at maybe 101% size or something?
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
Print the ram at 101%. You might also just have a bad barrel to spring combo, not enough spring for your barrel length.
@MaverMc

For anyone who comes across this. Issue was the worker darts had been stuffed in the mag for too long, so even though I can't tell they are slight deformed, put some fresh worker darts into it and it shot all of them great.
@FrontlineFoamBlasters

Looked all over the github. Couldn't find the one piece plunger head. Is it there, or am I blind? Does the newest magwell and redirect piece screw together with two screws on the bottom of the turnout, or the top?
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
github.com/Sillybutts/SLAB/blob/main/SLAB%20v4%20Release/STLs/Orange/PlungerHead.stl I had apparently forgotten to update the files with the one piece head. Here's a direct link. Two screws on the bottom of the turnaround is the new better one.

@@Sillybutts time to reprint and rebuild. Lol. Just finished it today.
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
@@FrontlineFoamBlasters It shouldn't be much work. The only parts changed were the plunger head, plunger rod, turnaround, and magwell. None of the other prints were touched, so you can just drag/drop the new bits on :)
@Rancid_Ninja
@Rancid_Ninja Год назад
Doubling up the orings on my ram caused it to not fully seat and force the turnaround upwards which made the glue on the tube fail, I removed a oring and reglued the tube and all seems well. The tube was fairly short compared to say a talon claw or caliburn, would the slab benefit at all from a slightly longer tube
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
A longer tube is not necessary

Howdy, buying parts piecemeal because i am in EU and just wondering, does the thread pitch of the screws used everywhere matter? Or does any countersunk m3x10mm screw work?
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
FYI there is a metric SLAB, files and hardware list here: github.com/Sillybutts/SLAB/tree/main/SLAB%20Metric%20prints%20for%20the%20V4%203-10-2023 docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rwOaMUxTBOt-3HkqtDI1B0x1Cw2i1hpLy2a5YOf-w4Q/edit#gid=946235207 make sure you are on the metric tab at the bottom of the page. For the metric SLAB, the screw pitch doesn't matter, but the length does. The length of the threaded section should be somewhere around 7mm long, with a countersunk head. The 10-32 short screws do matter, unless you tap the aluminum bar to a different spec.
@RazTheBaz
@RazTheBaz Год назад
@@Sillybutts Thanks! Yes i've been following the metric hardware list but finding things is hard. But i will carry on because the lever action is worth it!
@samkerski

Just started assembly on my kit, are we intended to just brute-force the screws into the holes? I didn't hear any mention of tapping holes, but I can def hear some plastic stressing when screwing directly into it.
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
Yes, the screws go directly into the plastic. It is meant to be reasonably tight.

Any issues with the priming bars being printed? Do they flex? Any advantage to getting them made out of metal?
@Sillybutts

No issues at all. I do plan to have metal ones made as an upgrade part, but mainly for bling.

Do you need the elastic in the trigger because when I assembled mine I cut the cord to short but I found that the elastic from the catch worked well on its own
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
It’s more a fine polish thing, not strictly required for functionality.

I just finished building last night, fired a few shots, went to go chronograph and for some reason the catch release isn't being activated by the trigger. The thing the threaded rod pushes into suddenly needs WAY more travel to release the catch. Any idea what's going on there?
@Sillybutts
@Sillybutts Год назад
Interesting. You should try threading the rod in the trigger mechanism out a bit, making it longer. It might also be worthwhile adding the optional screw to the top of the trigger itself, to make the firing snappier.
@reedpratt1985
@reedpratt1985 Год назад
I think using the trigger screw would help a lot now that I've been messing around with it a little more

@@Sillybutts yeah I was definitely thinking about backing the rod out a little more, it's just weird that the trigger feel kinda changes between shots
