Slab Your Own Comics | Gator Guard Comic Case Review 

Same price as cgc, 10x the price of a top loader. $15 would be my top dollar for this thing. $21 ($42) isn’t competitive. If I go cgc yeah there’s a wait but there’s exponential value potential in a grade and resale. For this to be the same price and just the display benefits (UV is a nice touch) not my jam.

Gator guards are cool, I prefer 5he comic skins tho. they're actual slabs with labels. Ill be posting a video about them here soon.

If they were a bit better in price at least have a bulk deal like 10+ for 15 a piece or something but 2 for 42 is kinda crazy. 5 for 96 is right at 20$ a piece not bad but still gotta drop some money on them

I saw these in person at a Comic Con in Alabama. Really like the way they feel in hand and look incredible displayed. The price point is a little higher than I would want it to be, considering for not much more I could send in to CGC and have the book graded. That being said I do love the UV protection it provides, as I wish CGC would do that. Great video!

I’d like to see a side by side comparison of a cgc case against the gg case. I’d also like to see a drop test and scratch test to see how it holds up. Is it waterproof?

The only problem is you have to unslab them like every 5 years to put in the microchamber paper to absorb the acid that's put off by the comic book pages. I don't know if I'd want to take my comic out of a holder like that every 5yrs and risk damaging it.

Too expensive and it should not have any words/letters in front of the comic, CGC and CBCS provide a service other than encasing the books, hence the turnaround, but you would be paying this amount more or less for grading. Gator Guard should be selling this for around $12, that would make sense for the consumer. It must cost them about $0.75 to mass produce these if not less.

The company is essentially out of business. The site says they will have product in "August..." with no specific date mentioned, which means you can bet your grandfather's nuts they won't have any in August.

Pass. Double board, mylite, top loader= all in $2.50... But if you're one of those clowns that sell your stuff on Ebay, you can keep making up your own grades. "Bro, I'm telling you 9.9 all day!"

They seem cool, but they're about $25 a piece depending on how many you get at once. That's way too expensive. Not much more to get them graded by CGC.

How thick of a comic do you think I can put in there? My Absolute Carnage #1 is decently thick.

It's too expensive and it doesn't give it the value of a graded book. The screws are hideous. The beautiful thing about slabs is that they do not show any screws or whatever it is that holds it together. UV protection is great. CGC should improve their slabs to have UV protection.

I would have wanted chrome/silver screws without paint.

At those prices of pretty much $25 a piece you can just buy BCWs showcase comic holder for $12. I own two and my comics look great in them. I like the black frame around it. I'm personally not liking the screws. Looks strange.

These are pricey, but they are great cases - super clear and sturdy. I use them for some special books. I'll get more when Silver Age Size becomes available.

I Kid You Not Kevin, I Was Just Looking For An Alternative To Protecting Some Very Special Comics I've Got, Including My Paola Lazarro Signed Issue #171 From The Walking Dead & Some Other Signed Issues I Also Just Recently Got That Same Venom Comic At My Local Comic Shop Lastly, My Brother Got Me That Exact Same Shirt For Christmas. I Need To Shed A Few Pounds To Fit Into It Though lol

Learned about the Gator Guard from Comic Vantage channel a year ago. A good display case to personally incase any signed comicbook to present it nicely in anyone's personal collection with a clean look in my opinion. Be nice though if the company's logo or a custom logo to your liking were to be on the back of the case rather than on the front of the case to give it a cleaner look than to kind of see the logo as if you can't unsee it knowing that the logo is there sometimes, i think. Also too you can assemble and disassemble the case to have access to the comicbook to read or to carefully look through the pages to appreciate the artwork, whenever you want it to without worrying about cracking a slab like with a reputable grading company has, unless have the same copy of the comicbook to read freely in hand and not need to worry on ruining a good graded copy. Overall Gator Guard is the way to go. Personally i would get my best comicbook to get it graded with my favorite artist's signature on it while the rest of my comicbooks with other signatures on incased with the Gator Guard. As for the screws i'd go with the clear polycarbonate screws for a much clean look on all four corners of the case. Nice review.

Grading and slabbing comics is moronic. I buy books I enjoy. I dont care what they are worth. To many so called collectors are just buying KEYS and speculating on books. A character or book they didnt care about before has a movie made now everyone wants the book lol. Example: Eternals. Before the movie was announced nobody cared about that title. It was a dollar bin purchase. Now just because a movie is made the prices have sky rocketed. Its NOT whether a book has a movie that makes it valuable. Its the scarcity and condition, and/or being a first appearance (really all of the above) that makes a book valuable. Everyone is just buying SPEC books and "KEYS" lol. Its idiotic. I dont care how much someone tells me to pickup a book because its a KEY or they are speculating that it will be valuable. IF I DONT LIKE IT I WONT CARE lol. I buy what I like and I liked Eternals when it first came out. Not because it has a movie and the prices are now artificially inflated. Ton of people online just collecting and showing off there SLABBED KEY books lol. WE DONT CARE! People like that are not doing the hobby any favors. CGC is now slabbing tapes. Its retarded. Just stop guys! Just stop! I think they are just trying to artificially inflate the value of books so they can make money. They will buy a bunch of copies of a book nobody cares about and/or is worthless than talk about it a lot and speculate about it lol getting everyone to talk about it so the prices go up everywhere for that book. Then they can turn around and sell the book for twice what they paid. This stuff is not doing the hobby any favors.

Those would obviously be great to protect your favorite books, but it would also be a good way to ship a book to CGC to protect it on its way to CGC but then you lose it because I don't see CGC returning the Gator Guard. You could increase the price of your book if you are selling it to someone because the Gator Guard will come with it! Buyer's would take comfort in knowing the book is protected during shipping as well.
