In this one, we head over to hang out with fellow Montana rockhound and RU-vidr Montana Rock Mom and cut some of our amazing rocks! I selected some very nice Bear Canyon agates, Montana agates, agatized wood, jasper-agates, and a thunder egg to cut open, and I could not be happier with our results! We had such a blast in this one and I hope you all enjoy! Once my blade arrives, there is going to be a WHOOOLE lot more slabbing to come on my channel so look forward to that! And make sure to head over and subscribe to Montana Rock Mom's channel; link down below!

Theo I love this video! Boy did we have a blast. I have to do one more big shout out though....to your sweetheart of many years...Alexis!!! Seriously, what a gal. She put up with us all night analyzing, evaluating, discussing, planning and just plain old non-stop talking about rocks, rocks, rocks! She so pleasantly entertained me showing her likely a hundred different rocks. We laughed, made ice cream sundaes and played with the pups.. She is always supportive of your rockhounding and joins you quite often on your adventures, what a gal. If you're a die hard rockhound, you know how important having someone like this can be. Alexis, you are Theo's "ROCK" and you get nothing but love from this Montana Rock Mom!

I have several rocks to cut. Some real beautiful agates. BTW, we are expecting 8 inches of blowing snow in the next 3 days. wind chills to -29 and not above 10 degrees for a week. Now, y'all need to keep that kind of weather. We Okies are not accustomed to that. We only get an inch or two on a very few years . Oh well, such is life. My 10-inch tile saw does not do justice to pretty rocks. It leaves them with some saw marks. But poor people have poor ways lol. Y'all havagudun. Thanks, Rock Mom for letting us in.

Yeah our win finally arrived as well unfortunately. I knew our 50 degree days couldn't last all winter; a few feet of snow and averaging -19°😅 hard to believe that weather showed up two days after it was 60°. really can't seem to make up its mind this year

BRAVO!!! You guys and your videos have convinced me and a couple friends of mine to take advantage of a buddies trailer house in Four corners for 2021. Stimulus checks pay for the extra expenses of having to haul home truck loads of rocks, and there will be truck loads going home. I figure by the end of summer we should have a few Tonnes (literally) of stones back home and ready for slabbing. But the next few weeks will be the real test of our abilities, you know before the snow melt.......And while the water is high, time wont be wasted cause we will just slab slab slab in Four corners everything we find up til then. But we better move fast cause I hear their is a few other crews planning the same thing and before you know it we will be elbow to elbow on that river. Im already preparing for 2022, 2023, 2024 etc etc. and cant wait. Your videos have been the inspiration of our planning and thank you SO MUCH telling us where to go and how special of a place you had their. Man, those thumbs up must be worth their weight in gold.

How fun! I’m jealous, because I too only have the 7” wet tile saw that you have with the 1-1/2” cutting ability. Makes it easy to accumulate rocks that have to wait for another day. Would love to get something more accommodating.
@TheoKellison
@TheoKellison 3 года назад
Absolutely! I am so fortunate that i was able to get my hands on a 12" drop saw(thanks to kate), but i will very likely continue to use my tile saw as a trim saw! It's one very reliable little machine; of course not being able to cut bigger stuff definitely gets frustrating. The beauty is that whenever you finally get to upgrade, you have a surplus of material to cut!😄

Wow, very cool! I was surprised to see the blade on Drogon, I thought slab saw blades were much thinner and not segmented. Some orange box stores rent "paver saws" that use a 14" blade that looks very similar. Clamping the rock would probably be very sketchy
@TheoKellison
@TheoKellison 3 года назад
I was as well actually! I thought all slab saws used continuous rim blades🤷
@markattardo
@markattardo 3 года назад
@@TheoKellison After thinking about it more, there may be a limit to how large a thin blade could be. From my extremely limited tile cutting experience, continuous rim blades are used for glass and mirrors. Porcelain and granite can be done with a different style non continuous rim blades. The style on Drogon is common for concrete blocks, bricks, pavers and asphalt. Now I'm wondering if there's a difference in diamond grit on all those blades....😂
