When I hear this, I get such a rush from all those awesome memories of the 70's flooding back. Some may think we old for being there, but if they only knew what they'd missed. Never to be another era like it and how much I love that I was there. Thank You.
@@marktherkelsen6065 Apart from the FK FK fk while tuning his voice before singing, Get down and get with it. And i agree with tims best live rock album.
How is it they were underrated when they are rated 2nd to The Beatles in most top 10 hits? From their humble beginnings as the N-Betweens in 1965 through their mega hits in the '70s, their loud, brash style, both musically and visually, endeared many a listener over the decades. An amazing run of 17 U.K. Top 20 singles in a row, as well as a batch of classic LPs are proof of that popularity. IS THIS underrated?:
@@craigbutterfield592 You must be in England. I've got friends over there who echo the same sentiments as you. I'm in the US, and Slade never translated to American audiences for some godforsaken reason. I guess I should have pointed out that I was talking about US audiences. I first heard them in the early 80's via Run Runaway. There are plenty of bands that made a mint across the pond that didn't make it as big over here as they deserved to. I was born in '71, and I didn't know much about them beyond the aforementioned 80's hit and that they wrote Quiet Riot's 2 biggest hits until I went looking for info on them in the 90's. Cheers
@@DeliviaMusic Not in England. From US same as you. Maybe it was 35 years ago, I bought a couple of hundred albums at a flea market. 2 of them were Slade. Right then I realized there were a great band. I know a lot of music, Sweet also from England is another favorite and many more
@@craigbutterfield592 Nice to know, I had to seek them out, and am glad I did! Sweet is another excellent band, for sure, though I feel they got a better shake at radio play than Slade did. The Mickey Finn is another band from England that didn't get their due in the states, in my opinion. Cheers
Under rated ? Get real ! From 1971 to 1976 Slade sold more records world wide than any other band. They sold two #1 albums and 16 top 10 singles. Someone must have rated them.
When I was a teenager, my sister bought this album on a pre-recorded cassette for me. She knew I would love it. It was played to the point it stretched the tape so Noddy got a different sound. She has passed and I miss her so ....
When I was a young teenager my Mam bought me this album on vinyl, I use to lend it out regularly and someone never returned it every time I hear it I think of her. I've since gotten it again but wish I had the original.
I saw Slade live twice in Sydney, Australia .. in The Hordern Pavilion and at Randwick Racecourse. They were absolutely incredible. Noddy had the entire audience in the palm of his hand.
I would love to have seen the band live but they didn't come to Dublin. I was quite young when I started following their music and they were the first band I took seriously that was 50 yrs ago and I still listen to them today. Noddy was a great singer in front of a great band 👏
@@MrCatstail They were so, so good ... At the Hordern Pavilion Noddy at the start was drunk or on drugs .. he walked smack bang into the speaker stand. He wasn't right for a while but then he came good and was the best front man you have ever seen .. he was very commanding .. I am inclined to say charismatic. Jim was so calm and well centred. An amazing bass player. The whole show took you somewhere that you can't describe .. somewhere so wonderful ...
We down here in Melbourne, Showgrounds, January 1973, something special, epic concert, never forgotten, a 15 year old never ever forgotten. Brilliant, never seen anything like them ever again 🇦🇺
Im 62. When we were about 15 - 1974 or so - we first heard Slade Alive, and just loved the album. Our first exposure to :glam: Hard English Rock like that.. So unique.. We went and saw them at Winterland.. Some months later when we were listening to the album, an older, more sophisticated "Teenager" that we looked up to told us that Slade was a "gimmick band".. "wha..?" I never trusted that guy again..I never could understand how you couldn't like them. Great Band at the right time.
Apart from the showmanship they were brilliant musicians. Noddy had the voice of true rock. My teen years were encapsulated in Slade. Long live glam rock
I love this tune by Slade, I remember secretly swapping one of my mums single records for the Slade alive album just for this song so I could hear Noddy burp, if you know, you know 😂😂😂😂😂
I love the fact so many people are relating to this song. I just lost my mom this September12, and it’s been very hard… But I know I’m not alone. And I know she would have loved SLADE (if I’d have played it for her)!
Really? From their humble beginnings as the N-Betweens in 1965 through their mega hits in the '70s, their loud, brash style, both musically and visually, endeared many a listener over the decades. @@craigbutterfield592 Well maybe its not underrated then, here in the UK, Slade are generally known for the only song thats ever played on the radio...their Merry Christmas tune...played at least a billion times per day through the festive period...then they disappear til next December...so sad.
Not directly relevant, but what happened to Di of the official Slade fan club? I was a member of the Official Slade Fan Club in the UK of the 70's and Di used to write a monthly news letter about the band. Sounds sad, but those were the days of the 70's and I'm in melancholy mode and missing those simple, but happy days!

Not one of Slade's songs, but a brilliant cover version and a major part of the Amazing "Slade Alive" album and I don't use the "Amazing" word lightly!
