Who is listening this still in 2024. March. Slade was the most brutal best british band ever. I was a fan from the very first moment till the bitter end. But i still like them
@@danielkatzel895 seen them and White Snake live here in Germany for the opening of an Faktory called Melitta Werke Minden. I was 14 Years old and that was amazing for me .
Wildhorses133, that's a good point and you're right. They never had the "make-over" that every pop band has these days to get the right "image". In fact, I don't recall the pop and rock acts of the '70s having make-overs; they were mostly left to express their own individual creativity. Slade are an underrated band. Best regards.
Dave my Silver God, down here January 1973; stinking hot Australian Summer, I was in awe as a 15 year old. Never seen an epic performance like that ever, ever again, and will never again. 🇦🇺
Slade...Sladest record slayed a lot of people..the ultimate party band of the 70's. Noddy's voice is incredible (no mic dubbing or reverb there) he sounds like that. Believe it or not...I think that I had a checkered pair of pants like Noddy's.
when I was younger I used to laugh at Slade with one of my best friends. it was at the end of the 80' when we listened to the old records 45 tours with face A and face B. Now, Slade is one of my favorite bands.
Bill Presley I'm Russian (not soviet) I'd like surprise you! No one loved more hard rock than People who lived in communist "paradise" Forbidden fruit always so sweet! Now I live in USA And enjoying capitalistic Highway to hell! God forbid that "paradise"
don't forget that the seventies was a great decade how ever the media try to make it look otherwise.Slade being one of many wonderful group's of that decade.great memories from some one who was old enough to have been there and enjoyed every minute of it.

the best band ive ever seen floyd, pistols, lizzy, nirvana, the who, ac/dc, jam, etc, great but slade live are something else, hardrock theatre stretford manchester 1973, changed my musical life
Absolutely spot on, live and playing album tracks they took it to another level, I'm impressed you saw all them bands while holding down a job at the BBC as a newsreader.
I'm sorry i really don't understand were was My head cause i havent listening this great band i thought i was hear all the Best rock bands great mistake now i love it. From México Xochimilco have a good night
When I was a kid watching this on top of the pops my dad said to me 'you call that music its a load of rubbish, now Mario Lanza, thats a singer" ..Now I watch the X factor with my daughter and say to her 'You call that music, its a load of rubbish, now Lemmy, thats a singer'.......
Thanks for your comment....but I to listen and watch this band with fond memories but your father and your self say the same words. Why it's the memories of your youths so smile when your daughter enjoys today's music to her it will be magical . And remember music is the best form of enjoyment...
They knew how to write a pop hook. Very melodically creative , nice unusual chording. Always took it in unexpected directions. Even Merry Xmas Everybody was cleverer than a fox with a physics degree.
Tonight I sang “How do you feel?” at an open mic. Struggled with some of the higher vocal notes. Noddy’s vocals are awesome. Just try and sing his songs yourself and you’ll be in awe too. Rock on Slade! :-)
Tony Bates Singer, I’m not sure, since that seems so subjective. But as a front man, arguably he was one of the best ever at putting on a great show. Noddy was one of the most captivating front men ever. He’s up there with Ray Davies, Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury, and maybe a few other greats I can’t think of. If there was ever a front man someone thinks was better at grabbing a crowd completely and doing a totally entertaining show than these guys, please post their names. (Elvis? Sinatra? Lennon? Great entertainers, but I don’t know that they ever owned the crowd quite like these four.)
@@fenderstratguy He had, like Johns Lennon and Fogerty, this incredible ability to - well, the only way I can describe it is that they hollered in tune. That to me is the essence of rock singing. But because they were Slade, a pop band that got 6 no.1s, dared to dress up and didn't mind looking slightly silly, Holder's voice is overlooked, as if he doesn't count or something. Not that I think you're saying that, of course - I'm talking about certain critics and "serious" rock fans. Have you ever heard How Does It Feel by Slade? It's marvellous, the best thing they ever did. Criminally underrated. I suppose you could say Iggy Pop was good at grabbing a crowd - he'd launch himself into the audience and without fail they'd catch him. I've read that he used to cut himself with broken bottles on stage and even got a girl to suck him off as part of the show, although that's probably an urban myth. I'd love it to be true, though . . .

Back to school disco days! I remember the teachers complaining about the deliberate misspelling of their song titles, saying it was a bad influence on schoolchildren lol
