In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Ironclad. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:
Slay the Relics Exporter, used for the live stream: steamcommunity...

Love how at the end he remarked he wouldn't be able to get the heart down to a specific enough number in order to feed on it and then proceeded to get exact lethal with the feed. Very satisfying run to watch.

Nah, low damage cards scale well with strength and high damage cards conversely scale less well, so body slam definitely doesn't need strength to do its job. Just based on that principle alone I was also thinking along the same lines.

I've never made body slam work without an entrench or barricade. Seeing this was mind blowing. I really undervalue stuff like exhaust decks and dark embraces

@@auberginepomegranate2742 the deck wouldn't have beaten heart at the end of act I because it still needed some upgrades and removes. But yeah, you know you will get those upgrades and removes so it was a 99% win at the end of act I.

@@auberginepomegranate2742 that was my mistake. I made this comment by the end of Act 1. It’s actually very surprising to me because I always thought just power through and second wind alone don’t give enough defense for the heart. Guess I learnt something new

Just beat my first A20 Heart with Ironclad this exact same way! Corruption, 2 dark embraces, 2 feel no pains, impervious, 2 Second Winds, Fiend Fire, body slam, and a Dual Wield to make copies of Body slam. I've learned so much from watching you play, thanks Baalor!

That ironclad run really demonstrates why I feel body slam is so underrated as it's a zero cost scaling damage card. Can easily deal 50-100 damage for ZERO energy as long as you can generate block.

You need a wild Defect run to make it work. Creative AI could give several Echo Forms and you turtle up (with Frost Orbs reliably) all the while you stall and use several Echo Forms, then use one Self-Repair before the end and boom, Full HP after the fight. Pretty farfetched but then again, this is already overpowered and doesn't care about using Offerings. xD

@@shayatz you don't *need* healing to use offering. You just need to be saving more HP by playing offering + extra cards than the damage you'd take otherwise, which is not hard to do, especially in act 2. If you can basically guarantee every fight in act 2 is 6 damage taken at maximum then you're gonna clear act 2 easily. Healing isn't necessary, or at the very least a cheeky rest before the boss is more than enough. Especially because offering is fulfilling the role of multiple other cards (offering is like 1.5 adrenaline, which is insane value) you can forgo an upgrade or two since you can have less cards in your deck.

@@brytehagan9446 It is better to have a method to Heal eitherway. You also go through events that demand HP at times. And even if you're taking less than 6 damage by using Offering in a fight, it'll stack up. You can forgo Upgrading by Resting but I've experienced this, the small % of Heal you regenerate won't take you through Act 2 anyway. Besides, the situation I proposed was one where not just Offering but anything from any character would work.

@@brytehagan9446 I have little doubt there are certain decks outside of Ironclad that could make good use of it. The bigger issue is I think it would be far riskier to use, and much less of a (usually) universal pick as it can be on Ironclad.

what would be the requirements to make a curse/status deck work with fire breathing ? i mean as a primary damage source.

The perfect fire breathing deck would have an evolve, at least 2 copies of power through and fire breathing, barricade, a second wind, a dark embrace, and a feel no pain, so that you can stack block and draw a million wounds a turn and then play second wind to draw even more wounds. Most of that is just fluff though, the only cards truly essential for a fire breathing deck are the fire breathing (duh), an evolve, and any replayable card that gives you status cards. Power through is the best card for this though, since it gives multiple wounds and gives block since you’re just gonna do damage with the fire breathing
