Nice Pete. Looks like they did a good job. For all those asking for axle part numbers, Meritor makes several in different king pin intersection widths. 12,000#/69" width, 5" drop, MFS-12-124A-N. 12,000#/71.5" width, 5" drop, MFS-12-144A-N. Spring mounting surfaces vary in width. Pete and KW are the same. Disclaimer.... Do your own confirmation research. I'm just a 43 yr. Owner/Operator/Mech. Your local dealer should be able to get you the exact one you need. Trouble is, they don't usually care or will tell you 9 ways it won't work...
The belly strap is to prevent the frame rails from twisting inward causing the frame rails to crack. Pete’s are known for the tops of the frame rails cracking near the rear of the engine.
Greg as you lifted the hood I was thinking... Knowing your affinity for black paint, when is the CAT coming out for a paint job? You could always detail pinstripe cat yellow on it in a couple spots.
When are we going to see some p level improvements? More go less show!! Need some big boom stick and wootang war whistle action!! Looks awesome though.
Great choice that is the best option for air ride. Very dependable and easy to maintain if needed. She’s going to feel alittle funny to you on the first few corners but you will get use to it.
Ya, we dropped my sons 379 by singling out the factory spring, 389 air bag hangers and positioning valve and then custom dual shock bracket on each side. Way less work and expense.
As I pointed out in previous videos, Please get a set of used newer style cab doors so your door handles match the sleepers door handle. !st sign of a cobble job rebuild. You did everything so nice GO Al the Way.Right with your truck.
Would have loved to give Dirty Diesels my business again but after calling 3 times to set up an appt, and being told I will be called back with never calling me back...I've since found someone else.
@@BadGoat92 there are air disk brakes. He would have to swap axles to put them on but the newer models come factory with disc's. Extra stopping power, easier maintenance
You talk too much.... the first 3 mins were repetitive... If you want to talk, talk about what they are doing and why not showing shots of their showroom and repeating yourself, js Edit: throwing these comments as the video goes, watching from start to finish... glad to hear some explanation, great work! (I am just throwing out constructive criticism as I see it in real time) Edit: watched to the end, you have done a great job filling us in with everything, just a little much up front... thanks!!
You can weld the frame there. Forward of the front hangers and behind the last axle is ok. Not in the middle. The weld crystallize the steel and causes cracks.
My partner walked in while I was watching your channel. She was very concerned why I was watching youtube videos about semi trucks 🤣. Had to make sure I wasnt going to start peterbuilt shopping I guess.
Hhhmmmmm... this is just the video I needed to see. I've got a 2002 Freightliner school bus that I have a body swap plan for and have been trying to find a way to drop the front and add air. I'm new to diesels too so I'm definitely going to be checking out this shop... and they're only two hours away from me! Subbed!
Ok Greg. So The last newer video I watched of yours was a truck meet/show deal where you acted like a drunk teenage boy. I decided to go back and watch old school Greg A. You know the No Boost days. In fact the last video I watched was Andrew selling the diesel rabbit. So yeah, years ago. This video shows a real advance in filming and editing. What a leap. Honestly Greg, take Mike and get back to who you are. I love my but the Jersey stomping grounds with Andrew, Mr. No Boost, and ol' Sendit is where you belong. I love Mike and don't want him to go. Man's full of knowledge for his age. I love ya Greg but miss you before the attitude change you went through.
@@gregulate891 Since this post I’ve had a guy tell him a 389 axle will bolt up in the current 379 location with out swapping the spring. So I guess I’m in the hunt for a 389 disc brake front axle.
@@Jason_Shelby77 I haven't seen a kit I would assume you'd have to pull the disc brake system off a newer truck but being I've driven trucks with drums and trucks with disc brakes night and day difference I like the old iron but I'll give that to the new trucks that they stop better
@@petrinkyle I love my old 379, I’m getting ready to stretch it to 300”, and was looking at newer disc brake cutoffs, and possibly swapping the front also.
@@Jason_Shelby77 if the cost isn't any crazy difference I would say go for the disc brake cut off all the way. They look like the maintenance is easy on them changing pads out and there's no real adjustment to them if they feel slacked off you push the brake pedal real good and they firm right up
