I'm not so sure. I think there just aren't very many good hockey movies to begin with. I liked Odd Man Rush quite a lot, though I wouldn't necessarily say it's deserving of "best hockey movie ever". I just mean there are other really good ones, is all.
The hockey announcer is hilarious in every scene of this classic movie. But in this scene, the stereotypical Francophone goalie with the heavy accent steals the show.
"Icing appen when ah, the puck come down - bang, you know, before the other guys - nobody there you know, my arm go - comme ca then the game stop then start up." - He is so dead-on accurate about the sound the puck makes when it hits the boards - esp. in those old, big, hollow arenas: "bang". That, and the deadpan tempo of his description with his accent make this a hilarious scene! Jim Carr plays it perfectly too :-)
It's ironic how at the end they face a team with the same colors as the flyers and the chief's jerseys kinda look like the islander's jerseys. 1979-80 baby
@arcassells - the soccer horn icon is so you can put the magical sounds of vuvuzelas over selected RU-vid videos. Apparently they arent annoying enough as it is.
Icing happen when the puck come down, bang, you know, before the other guys, nobody there, you know, my harm go comes out, then the game stop then start up LOL
I'm from Québec, and Yvon Barrette, who plays Denis the Goalie, comes from a village about an hour away from my hometown. The French version from Quebec is funny to listen to, however, I prefer the English one because it is more colourful when you hear Yvon Barrette or Yvan Ponton talking, especially in scenes like the one when we hear "Trade me right fu****** now!".
"What is icing?" "Well, uh.. icing happen when uh the puck come down.. bang, you know. Before the other guys - nobody there, you know. My arm go comme ça then the game stop then start up."
In my opinion, they aren't as good as the original. But the second is worth a look, I wouldn't bother with the third though... I will never get those hours back :-(
I like this movie a lot too.I prefer the original english version because you clearely notice when the french quebecois don't understand what they say.or have a hard time saying what they want ot say in englsih.
