This video is about My final thoughts of playing a slash appetite for destruction chibson for a week. as well as future modifications I will do and what to look out for if your in the market for a similar product.
Funny, I saw this style of chibson at a pawnshop with the same “serial” number. They were selling it as a real Slash signature Les Paul for several grand. First thing that sealed off was this expensive guitar and such a crappy pawnshop. So of course do asked the people if could check it out. Ended up having all the signs of being a fake and so I made them aware of it. I told them take that guitar down because it’s illegal to resell them or at least change the price and let customers know what they’re buying. A few weeks went by and I stopped by the same pawn shop again sure enough the guitar was still hanging with the same price. I spoke again with the person behind the counter and they had no idea what I was talking about. Apparently the original sales person I talked to just put it back up without letting anyone know about it being a counterfeit. I believe if you search the serial number on this one it comes up with a black LP studio, I may be wrong as it’s been a few years since I checked. I completely support Chibsons as long as no one is trying to resale them as authentic, then I take issue with it.
If you don't want to drill the holes out for the 3/8" Gibson Deluxes tuners go with the Genuine Kluson Traditional 3x3 Nickel SD90SLN (1/4"). These are super nice and replicate exactly what was on original 50s and are the same style and look used on the newer True Historic Gibsons...and are half the price of the Reissue Deluxe tuners. And they are really smooth. It is a super quality tuner set. I put these on a 2017 Gibson Les Paul Traditional using the adapter bushings and love them.
I received my Slash copy about two weeks ago, and the only issue was a few fret ends needed dressing. I changed strings and raised the stop tail to change the string angle across the t.o.m. and have had no issues with staying in tune. I will change the tuners only because I can't stand the jade color. Thanks for your review and the vid on your Slash kit build, also.

Dude! Scarf joint is not a bad thing! With scarf joint Your headstock will not break! Ass soon as the pieces of wood are properly matched as resonance properties, and glued with the right glue, it doesn’t really matter from how many pieces of wood the guitar is made!
Are you planning to do anything about the dead fret @10:27? If yes, can you please do a video about it. I have an Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX with a dead fret and i'd love to fix it.
They might of drilled the bridge holes out for a small post 52mm bridge and then accidentally put in a large post 50mm bridge in, I know the gotoh small post bridge I got was just a little wirder, even though I had small post inserts,that screwed right into the existing body studs,real Gibson bridge and pickup rings are a little wider too, I had to get a small post Nashville bridge for imports,that works but the saddles have to be turned around, they have conversion kit bridge and post.
I was going to say strap locks, but you caught it. I’m glad you aren’t droning on about the legalities. I think it’s funny because I was LAPD for a long time, and I know that these crimes are hard to prosecute. I’m going to follow suit and do an unboxing. What are you using to videotape?
I got on changed the bridge for gibson didnt fit holes were way to big. Pluged them drilled them the right size . I didnt kno the bridge was supposed to be slanted so i put it in straight. It seems to play good not sure if i should slant it or what.
Lol see my zw bullseye had left over tape pieces under the finish which I found hilarious, and the stop tail has a slight issue like your TOM bridge but it holds up nicely, hell even the Grover knock offs actually hold tune, the neck is nice and thick, overall the thing is a great player, I got lucky with that one, up until I went else where to get a dime Washburn clone which I have to refinish cuz the veneer is super cracked and what have you, lesson is kiddies do your research it's a gamble
Can you order without it saying Gibson or made in USA. That is the only thing I do not like. From a diff company I ordered a fake PRS and they put a logo that I made up on it which was great. Just occurred to me that I never plugged that guitar in and listened to the pickups before changing them out.Hmm wonder what they sound like.
honestly its hard to say. id look up some unboxing videos of some recent stuff to see if you can find a good source. the lazy cutaways are pretty much the standard nowadays and although you'll get something close. i was fairly unhappy with the shape. it really doesn't feel like a les paul. id recommend building your own for cheap. you can check out my other videos for how to make a slash LP from a kit. with links from ali express.
The dragonfire vintage buckers are just as good sounding as the Sd alnico 2 imo. Over 40 years I've had them all pretty much. If you're going to play metal get the screamers but for slash all you need is the vintage buckers from dragonfire. Do an update soon to let us know how its holding up. Please do at least part of your video with no reverb or delay. Start by strumming an E chord and let it sustain til it stops. Count the seconds
dude try guitar fetishes pickups way cheaper and they sound amazing!!! I just put a pair in mine for 50$ bucks and they sound better than the JB & Jazz I've always have loved!
for sure.... gfs pickups all the way. made by artec in china to gfs specs. my favorites are vintage fat pats and the mean 90. the plug in dealio pretty sporty
if you can afford one of these guitars you can afford pickups. lol no need to spend so much on those slash alnico 2 jobs, you can get some iron gear tesla sharks if you want slash type pickups... way cheaper and by all accounts very very good
They take work ... but when you get them how you want them you will be happy... I have a slash LP and a Zakk Grail ... I would put them both up against one of my real gibbies any day.. ps... I hate the epiphone headstock too.. I would have sent that back though.. the lazy horn would drive me nuts 🥜 my S/N on my slash is 00170428 LOL 😂
My epiphone has real binding.. Also there's a huge difference between a professional luthier (Kris Derrig) and a Chinese manufacturer. I hate when people bring that argument up.. I don't have anything against chibsons, but don't try to talk them up.
Hi, you did what i was planning on doing when i got mine. But decided it wasn't worth it, so I've got tuners and slash pick ups etc waiting to be put into something else. You're having fun with it which is cool but i don't think the quality is better than an epiphone. Have a look at precision guitar kits, i think you'll buy one from them and would be great to see you're review
I'm doing a kit build video series right now you should definitely check it out. were doing a 300 to 400 dollar build, which can be customized any color you want with all the hardware and pickups you choose. i made it to show if you do some work you can spend about the same cash as a chibson and get a more accurate shape and whatever custom color you want as well as the pickups your looking to get and tuners and hardware for near 400 bucks if not less. check it out
I just realised Ive already watched it and thats how i found you here. I watched all of them great series. Im too scared to do the staining. I wish i was as happy with my chibson as you are, mine is a p.o.s. Im moving house and considering tossing it in the trash rather than transporting it to a new home. If I get a kit I'll be sure to let you know but i think next on the list for me is a Gibson 2016 les paul 50s tribute ebony. They're pretty cheap right now
actually i didn't really like mine either that was the whole reason i did the kit videos. if you follow my series step to step its actually pretty easy my man. but i hear you some times biting the bullet it easier than the hassle. nothing wrong with a nice gibson obviously. a good epiphone would be sweet too.
I own 4 gibsons ,a 97 335 dot reissue,a 97 135, 2007 sg special ,and a 92 les paul 60 classic.the finish on the fretboards of all of them is crap !!!sanding marks ,file marks and general finish ,these wheren,t cheapo,s !!!! if your paying 350 for a les paul ,then you will expect some faults,I would ,but if your paying good money for a genuine article !!!!! So if your pining after a gibson you might be disappointed
Nice man! I have three coming, one from China guitar, one from DH gate, and one from a crazy site called guitar2buy.com. Kevin Shi from China guitar is great, as is DH, all is good and I’m excited. However, the guitar2buy site was just too ridiculous, 92$, American specs (they say,) a hard case , delivered. I paid, but it shows I ordered and paid for 3? This site changes price, from 90$ to 4,000$. I think they expect us to accidentally pay 4,000.
Here's my question, with all the work you are having to do and concidering the colour is still not what you wanted or asked for, why wouldn't you just buy a kit guitar? If you did that you could get the finish you want, the colour and you would pay less than for the illegal copy you have in your hand. In addition you would have the reward of knowing you built the guitar from scratch. I bought a strat off Ali express, it cost me $100usd, I leveled all the frets, I intonated it, I painted it and put the finish on it. The tuners were good out of the box, the tone and volume pots are good and the pickups are of an acceptable std but I have some genuine fender ones I will be replacing them with shortly. The whole build cost me $200 and there will be no other guitar like it in the world cause I made it myself and shaped it and polished it and made it perfect for me. I would encourage everyone to do that instead of buying guitars from people ripping off the genuine brands then having to spend hundreds of dollars to fix them so you can play them in the first place.
well at least you had better luck than I did if you want to you can Google search in RU-vid and find my video titled broken neck Gibson Zakk Wylde unboxing need I say more? Yeah my Bullseye Zakk Wylde showed up with the neck snapped at the 12th fret. I purchased it through Angel store his first a solution or first offer to resolve the situation was he said it was fixable and he would give me $50 refund needless to say I did not settle for that I took it to multiple guitar shops no one would touch it so I actually attempted to repair it myself and I actually done a very decent job even the guitar shop said I did but just like they were afraid of there's that little bit again now in the neck and it's like a little roller coaster right there at the 12th fret there's a dip and there's nothing you can do about it accept heat up the glue or the neck is glued together to the body take it out and replace the entire neck which will more than likely damage the paint so in other words I've got a wall hanger that cost me $350 because I paid extra free solid neck and solid body and fret binding. oh yeah I also ordered one of them Gibson cases which ain't worth throwing out behind the dog house because that actually is partially what broke my guitar for one thing there was too much angle on the neck at the headstock and the case itself didn't properly support the guitar because of that and that's what caused it to snap. anyway after arguing and fighting with the seller and with AliExpress the seller agreed to give me $250 credit towards my next purchase and let me keep the wall hanger so basically I've got $100 wall hanger so I chose the same guitar you ordered here the Appetite for Destruction Les Paul which they sent me photos of it before they shipped it it looks really nice it was shipped out May 28 hit hit u.s. customs at JFK in New York City and has not moved since. so I've been arguing back and forth again with AliExpress and the cellar I contacted JFK customs and it turns out the guitar was confiscated and I told AliExpress this but they refused to do anything until I get the paperwork which can take up to 45 days so now it's a waiting game. my point of this post is before you order one of these guitars from AliExpress be prepared to go through a lot of bullshit because it can happen just like in my case this was my first attempt to order a guitar from them actually I tried to order a Zack Wylde Flying V but the seller and that situation tried to rip me off by saying he shipped it and did not which they did refund my money and then I went into this deal so altogether I have been trying since January 23rd to get a guitar from AliExpress and the only thing I have gotten is a wall hanger and a jump case to put it in along with a really nice headache
I wont list the name of the chinese company; I wouldnt do that to anyone. At around 3 minutes 29 seconds, we see a gap between neck and body (No Paint?) I just got ONE Today, MY Gap in that position is covered with the Photo thin veneer, as it levitates off the body and onto the neck joint, wow. So... 1. after a quick inspection / puke; we have a 5 or 6 piece body and some pieces are really light...other dark, even the heel is 2 pieces? it's 3d chess. (I ordered the ; Off white brocaded mother of pearl body finish, gorgeous photo). 2. I squeeze blinked my eyes and shook my head when I glanced at the fret size (mom's sock darning needles were bigger) They were the "Dicwad corroded aluminum flat unpolished version, but no sprouting. 3. Tuned it.....(forever) and then held her up to Take a look down the neck. (either side was totally going in different direction?? 4. ok...so that immediately means; slack that truss rod to zero. The forward screw on the cover plate by the nut) came out On An Angle, the screw was 3/8 inch Long. This Les Paul Copy had the; "ali baba and the 40 Thieves Disappeared Truss Rod (ingrown version) cave. Holy Shit, it has like 6 HALF TURN snugging pulls on it?? (a real LP may need 1 and a half 1/3rd turns). So...this one was close............to the garbage. Most experts like me; Know what their gonna see with a slacked off Truss Rod, that far twisted down, when they look down the neck next time. I looked and my testicles actually re-ascended. (the tree(s) they made the neck from grew outside the employees entrance to the manufacturing building and were cut down that day for this custom build. SUNDRY ADJUSTMENTS; 1. I always put the Tail Piece height up, then the strings angle to the back of the Tune o matic match the angle at the head stock. SUMMARY; This guitar is a Piece of shit. eBay did a great job of alerting me that "There was yet another; Shipping Fee due". BREAK DOWN COSTS; $199 US, $239 Can, $100 US Shipping and then Shipping Fees every 10 to 12 miles, from China. A total of nearly $500.00 Canadian. fotenote; Dear Canada, u dont find out just how gawdamn worthless your buck is until u try and buy something Out Side the Nation. (it didnt even come with a case or flimsy gig bag) The Black Speed Knobs are really nice. Machine Heads By; Jello Pudding, Nut Cut The; "One Look and Barf" configuration(s). Neck finish; Parched Rosewood, Inlay at the 1st fret, dead on in-tune at the 1st fret (dead on arrival...at the rest). sorry...I cant tell u all the rest of the things that are fucked, I have to go and lay down now...

it suks the chibbys look so nice but they fuk up important liitle shit that makes a huge difference. or drill the dam tuner holes too big and they wobble. wtf they work so jard on the looks but cant drill a simple hole
I’m so sick of hearing Slash owned a fake Gibson so it’s ok. That still doesn’t make it ok. I have six Gibson’s and I have people ask me all the time if they are fake. So thanks,that’s what you people have done. I have to make sure I keep all the information on all my Gibson’s in case I ever want to sell one. So I can prove they are real. If you want a Les Paul you save your money and get one. I guess this is a fake world we live in now, if you can’t afford something or don’t want to spend the money just get a fake one.
Getting back into playing guitar more seriously than before. Had an Epiphone Riviera P93, but wanted a “Les Paul” so I bought a Mitchell MS-400 $300 to practice with until I could afford a Gibson LP Standard. The Mitchell played like mint out of the box and doesn’t send money to these scam artists. I will enjoy and treasure my Gibson Les Paul more than I could a knockoff because I’m working for it.
Sooo, part, 4 , it had a, "natural" mahogany, fin...& , Uber crappy .... way lighter than rosewood...Like on a cheap/recent Gibson!, (moringa). on the back , Then "Like Magic " the top. [While you're reviewing your "own" guitar,] keeps Chainging ?,to more.. orange, to correct cherry fin, on rear ,? &, then, suddenly the slash logo on headsock, ooh , & , the inlay ( fretboard), Alternates between ,[ Current, crappy, Gibson plastic, to, vintage, mop, style, &, suddenly, you ,"suddenly" acquire the, "dies" to put on "made in USA" on back of headstock..... yea. right.....that was a shot of a 01 Gibson, standard ! , Dude, get REAL !! HOPE GIBSON doesn't see this! & , if SLASH did, he MIGHT BE "COOL" with it,..... if , you could play it LIKE YOU MEAN IT !!..... ITS. SOOO EASY TO FOOL PEOPLE NOW...That doesn't make it right. just saying...
Sorry dude, but complaining about fake tuners on a CHIBSON (!!!) is just to much irony to take your video seriously. You put real Gibson tuners on a $300 guitar - doesn't that seem weird to you?
gibson can make a les paul for 500 dollars. and so can anybody. they will charge you 2500 but it only cost them that much, so not really. all materials and supplies including nice hardware and tuners to build one will run your roughly 500. getting everything direct from store instead of retail. my new videos cover all this.
