I think a lot of us have just not seen a bridge in this style. I think its most cool because its such a simplistic way to do it rather than the many over engineered ways we see usually. Often an engineers ability to see the simplest solution when no one else has is impressive.

Oh please. It's a piece of road that moves up and down. It looks neat and all, and I'm sure it cost a lot, but it's not exactly ground breaking engineering. And who determines the greatness of a country from a fucking bridge?! My country has hunstmen spiders the size of dinner plates - that must make it far superior!
