***** *They're there because Eminem is in New York, Em was making the rounds in NY and HOT 97 wanted Eminem there, but Eminem declined and sent his minions there instead.*
He wrote all his music even the old stuff that may have Co-Writers but for IYRTITL he really had Co-Writers which is what Q.Miller was Meek just blew that shit up for none not even properly knowing who Q.Miller was... He got some good songs though
Joes right if I find out Drake didn't write 9am in dallas, or 5am in Toronto then as a drake fan i'm crushed but idgaf if he didn't write 10 bands i don't hold that in high regard
Q.Miller really only Co-Wrote for a couple songs on IYRTITL & R.I.C.O he didn't ghostwrite but he is a Co-Writer but those songs like 6am in Dallas 5am in Toronto Lord Knows basically any songs from his last album to his really old music is all Drake music is written by him..ghostwriters don't get credited on albums or mixtapes reason why their called ghostwriters
Tommy Gunz, II Nowhere close. I have nothing but love for TDE and Odd Future, but a couple things to consider: 1) They're not groups. They're crews/label mates 2) Neither one of those organizations have an emcee seasoned enough to go bar-for-bar. You can make an argument for Kendrick, but most of his multis and delivery draw from Kxng Crooked (Crooked I).
Tommy Gunz, II Point taken. I didn't realize I didn't mention 'group.' My bad. I don't know if I would say Q is as nice as Kendrick, though. He's my favorite, musically, because I can just vibe to it. I think I would give it Jay Rock as the #2.
When kendrick said that verse on king kunta I'm pretty sure he knew drake didn't write some of his raps because that isn't a coincidence that kendrick mentioned that.
If we gone talk about drake and rap in general today, one of the main problems is content. There is no substance in the music, no point, no meaning/message. It's all part anthems and dope beats.
Delfiffer2 exactlyyy. i cant tell you the last time i listened to the radio. nothing but trashy, mainstream bullshit. nobody cares about lyrics anymore. all they care about it beats. and to be honest, thats so sad. im only 16, and i love old school, classic hip hop and i am very picky with my music. i just feel that this whole music stage of "trappin" has to end soon. its been going on for too long. and when it does, will be the day i turn on my radio again.
Coming back to this interview six years later you can really tell that there were issues in the group. Now knowing what we know now when hearing the stories that were being told to take place during this time we know that Joe really didn’t want to have anything to do with the group anymore at all let alone wrapping, we know that the other three members really wanted to finish the album but they were waiting on Joe, Crooked and Joell knew that it was probably over and they can’t figure out why Joe doesn’t want to record anymore and Royce is just sitting there optimistic.
Ikr!! Its funny how ppl all of a sudden wana discuss lyrics after meek's twitter rant foh yall never gave af why yall do now...because he insulted they're precious drake? Gtfoh
+jared Barksdale you listen to what Joe and Joel said at the very end?? "I ain't getting no butt job". Y'all trying to pretend your favorites ain't taking it in the ass for that fame!!! These dudes gets bombarded in your faces!!! You're programmed who to like!!! Narrow choices!!! Likes reps and dems!!!!
Is it just me or am I the only one who sees r.i.c.o was never Meeks song first, it was produced by drakes producer, and drakes verse was first, meek is mad that Drake gave him a record for the album that was written by someone else
StupidityIs NotHumanNature I bet there was a deal, and meek had to put it on his album. If you want nicki on there you gotta put drake on there. And the song sounded like a left over from if youre reading this
Imagine if Eminem didn't write his own lyrics. Let that sink in. Imagine if any of the GREATS or The G.O.A.T.S of hip hop were merely just vocalists to other peoples lyrics. Real Rap fans know real rap artists would never disrespect the art like that.
I feel like you can't rank which member of slaughterhouse is better than the other, they all being different things to the game. Crooked has the super lyrical gangsta rap shit, Joe has the super introspective personal shit and he's really blunt, Joell brings the New York sound which is the essence of Hip Hop, Royce has the amazing flow and of course they all are lyrical.
Ian-Devon Lewis Drake made most of his money in various business ventures outside the music scene. The music business is more like a hobby now so he doesn't care anymore.
These dudes don't need a hit, they are established, no one can say they're wack, even if they lose a rap battle, they are building themselves as lyrical pillars.
"Heard They Was talkin Crazy, I was Outta town. You know they love to Pop All that Shit When I'm not Around. but When I'm here, shhhhh, Not A Sound. That'll Make me Snap, jot it down, Go in the Booth And Lay A Body Down .." --Favorite Drizzy Line of All time. random I kno... proceed with yur Day.
Joey said it best.....nobody cared about lyrics until this popped off, so why complain/debate it now?? Real lyricists not named kendrick cant get a spin on the radio, dont get many looks on awards, so whats the big deal?? We all kno hip hop aint mainstream anyway
***** Crooked and Budden said it best at 23:20 . You cant state your opinion on other artists or you're labeled a hater. Look at what they're trying to do to Meek. Meek stated facts and he's being called a hater, jealous, and people bringing up net worth and record sales like that has to do anything with somebody writing your rhymes.
Straight up it hits home when I hear crooked I talk about you know finding out one of your favorite rappers don't write it s*** that was me finding out Snoop Dogg has a Ghostwriter on most of his new albums that mess me up bro
We so used to weak bars that we don't even notice it. Mainstream is all about the innovated format to increase profit. Many industry cats lack so much substance in their lyrics yet they have compelling production and marketing.
gaberod Thank you, tetsuo and youth is (in my opinion) one of the best albums in a minute). That shit still hasn't gotten old to me. Don't think it ever will
I'm confused, what do ya''ll expect to happen? Shouting and mad laughing and just non stop yapping? I enjoyed every second of this, because I have an interest in hip-hop, and I think these guys POV on rap is real. Now answer my first question.
yo ebro why you sooo real lol!!! thats why i love hot 97 with ebro/rosen/laura cuz of the realness. 105 is powerful with there interviews but man id only do a hot 97 interview with you first if we ever mad it. much respect
If this was the 90s, Drake would've been ripped to pieces. Too many ass kissers in the industry now who are too cowardly to speak their mind. Rap has always been fused with lyricist writing their own lyrics. Now all of the sudden true artistry isn't needed to compete in the rap game??? GTFOHWTBS! This is why hip hop has gone to shit and why the music industry as a whole is a fucking joke now. Too many people who can't sing, people can't even fucking rap anymore and more.
That just shows your inability to dig deep in hip hop and to just stick to mainstream... That's a big problem you kind of people ruined hip hop, I'm not a meek fan but seriously dig deep I can name so many rappers/singers better than drake :/
Best interview I've seen thus far; they are actually talking about some real shit and not hyping up a half ass artist who only made it on the show because they're dramatic.
Anyone else notice that they're lined up by shade/darkness, even Rosenberg sat in the right spot :)hahaha. Not sure if it was a random thing or they did it on purpose. Much love Slaughterhouse!
i agree with crooked when he asked about can you be a GOAT if someone else writes their music... example DR. DRE! he doesnt write, he has ghost writers but he is a legend
I am positive Drake wrote 9AM in Dallas. He was actually in Dallas that night and some hours beforehand my boyfriend at the time ran into walking on the way back to his Downtown Dallas apartment and spoke to Drake as he was getting off his tour bus hours before he released 9AM in Dallas. That's still one of my fave Drake songs.
Its funny...reading these comments i see a whoooole lot of ppl turned the interview off less than 5 mins in. Not realizing it got a whooole lot better. But thats kind of how society and rap music most definitely is now. Ppl dont want to listen or open their minds and let something develope. Hence the extreme amount of simple whack rap music nowadays. Ppl just want an easy beat n catchy chorus to listen to because it requires lil effort. Letting an interview develope n progress is like listening to a dopr lyricist who builds a song an album a story. Ppl want everything quick now and dont want to watch things grown and bloom.
