One of Australia’s favourite musical couples play their favourite pieces of music, performing selections from their album Our Place and works that have meant the most in their lives including those written by their heroes and peers.
Slava Grigoryan is an acknowledged guitar master on the world stage. Sharon Grigoryan has forged a formidable career throughout Australia performing with all major symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles, including a seven-year tenure with the Australian String Quartet. Together their repertoire spans cultures, generations and genres - from standard repertoire for guitar and cello (Vivaldi, Granados, Piazzolla), to works by contemporary composers, and their own compositions and arrangements that shine a new light on familiar favourites. In addition to the concert’s modern repertoire, the duo revisit some ‘old’ pieces which they haven’t played for Melbourne audiences before - Vivaldi’s Cello Sonata, and the very entertaining and comical Tonadillas en estilo antiguo by Granados.
