And here we are, wrapping up yet another adventure... I wanna give a shoutout to all you for showering this series with so much love. I genuinely hope it brought you as much joy as it brought to me ❤Much love and I will see you all soon for some Lore & Chill baby!
Loved the series Mati. You should react to the speedruns for all these games too if you want your mind blown! I’m excited for both sekiro and demons souls!
Just a heads up that Sekiro is quite different in terms of combat, and will kick your ass for a bit before you start to git gud. It is the hardest fromsoft game easily by a mile.
A quote that i read long ago from a random commenter that summarized this epic fight was "Two nobodies, fighting over nothing at the end of time, with no one to witness it" Gave me goosebumps when I read it.
And the fact that this fight is literally useless cause who ever won this fight still gonna give it to the lady this just basically an all out war between you two in the end of the world
@@Gamers_onlyy36 it isn't entirely useless, it even says that Gael knew that once he got all of the dark soul, he would basically go insane and be unable to bring it to his lady, so the Ashen One is the only one of them who could
Fun fact about Gael, when he disappears and teleports to you he's using a summon sign to close the gap by force, you can even see it on the ground beneath you when he does it. HE USES SUMMON SIGNS AS A WEAPON! 🔥
In case no one else has said it yet: It makes sense why Gael beckoned you into the painting and guided you through the dreg heap; as his soul states "he knew he was no champion and had little hope of a safe return." He knew he couldn't handle the Blood of the Dark Soul and he knew that you would find yourself at the end of time so he went to secure it in the hope that you would be strong enough to take it from him in his maddened state and deliver it the painter. He's the one boss that is counting on you killing him.
Gael has to be one of my favourite bosses of all time, the three phases, the ost, the flinch mechanic, the lore, its just glorious, really sends the series out on a bang!
Respect for the guy for not trying to gank behind the painting guardian. Even I'm guilty of doing that sometimes just for the covenant. Dealing with that encounter against people with meta builds is arguably the worst experience in the game, and this is a mandatory boss.
@@leithaziz2716To be fair, the ganks are pretty rough so invader need to optimize in order to stand a chance. He was cool because he decided to give a very obvious new player an easy win after having fun. The pvp is fun, but you need to die a few times in order to gain the courage or frustration to get into it and get better. But yeah he's build is not optimized for pvp lol so going against the splitleaf is rough
He was pretty awesome. Not only waited for him to kill the the npc but also gave him time to get ready. Plus beat his ass and backed off. Let him take the loss in the most chad way. There needs to be more people like that.
@@matiasgago its such an epic fight, 46:07 you can even see traces of his former human self when he uses the weapon art of the executioner's greatsword. its the exact weapon art of the greatsword you pick up an the cathedral's graveyard
Just wanted to leave this comment here and mention how you are probably one of the the only youtubers who has managed to make me feel like I completely reexperienced a game I've already beaten. And you are perhaps my favorite playthrough youtuber currently. It was such a great experience to watch this playthrough.
He is very thorough in his playthroughs. Tells me he actually enjoys the games. Newer people just rush it and shit post in the vid it's like come on man you did this for the clicks you know the community is huge.
Man i got so tired of streamers trying to flex by trying to beat the game with op swords and over leveling just to flex! My man switches gear barely upgrades and just does it!
I think your expression at 1:30:36 says a lot about this journey around this trilogy. You only have one sword stroke left to end it, you know it's the end, and before you finish Gaël, we can read "Thank you" in your eyes. Everyone who's ever loved SF games has had a look like that. Sorry for the broken English. ah and I'm subscribing.
Gael is one of the bosses that make me feel like im in a movie or an intense anime fight scene Gael is personally my favorite boss of all time, his theme is phenomenal as well.
Dark Souls trilogy is special, when it enters in your life they change something in you. The lore, the feels ... the whole journey and the random people you meet because of this games like this little community. A fine dark souls to all of you 🍀
And its literally the first line in one of their trailers. I didnt hear that until years after I completed the game for the first time. It was actually the last ending I didnt do yet. And when the last voice line came in it hit me so hard😢
@matiasgago hey Mati I've been watching your videos since you started dark souls 1 it's been great seeing you play through them all. Do you plan on playing armored core 6?
What an historic moment. An episode to be added to the annals of history. What a ride it has been. This might be my favorite RU-vid series I have hitherto watched. From Elden Ring till now, it’s been real. Looking forward to the future.
If you didn’t notice, the white cloaked enemies that aided the Spear of the Church are the same ninjas that protected the painting in Anor Londo from DS1
One of the best bosses in all of gaming! For me none but a certain Sekiro boss can match this. PS: when Gael teleports he uses summon signs to do so! He was also guiding the player throughout the dlc so that they could kill him in the end and take the blood of the soul so that a new painting (a world) may be painted. Finally, the painter's canvas looks like Gael's visage!
It's time for THE FINALE!!! Mati, this has been a blast man so thank you for this amazing dark souls journey. Wherever it goes from here, can't wait for the next banger!
1:57:03 speechless. This honesty is why you are loved. I went back and watched the Heide’s Tower episode and it’s so we’ll done. Always said your dedication & editing are unmatched. This just emphasises the point. Hats off to you. And thank you for so many hours of fun.
1:35:52 For sure the lore made me love Gael even more. He is the collector of the dark souls. He lead us to him, knowing he is merely a collector, for us to harvest for his painter lady. Respect!
Bro, congrats. Been watching since your first Elden Ring upload. You've come a long way from over-leveling in Caelid before the first boss to handicapping yourself with weaker weapons and no embers. You've been a great addition to the Souls community and I'm looking forward to what's to come. Edit: I used to feel the same way about pvp and invaders. Once I played enough that I could tear anything up with any build I wanted a challenge and wound up becoming a red. This is the Way. 2nd Edit: the only franchise that I'd put up there with Soulsborne is Zelda. There is something uniquely special about these franchises in such a way that no one else can accurately replicate it.
Me and my wife have been watching you since elden ring, and we never missed an episode on release. Thank you Mati, for the amazing journey! Your content is top tier, you as a person are amazing, and much love, from the both of us ❤
Damn that is so awesome thank you so much for being here specially for so long! The peeps that have been here since the ER days have such a special place in my heart all the best to you both ❤️
Been here from the beginning of ds1 and to see the ds trilogy end is pain but Sekiro is still to come which is without a doubt my favourite game of all time
Well done Mati. Your playthrough was absolutely thrilling and entertaining and the movie length episodes were a blast. I was here when you were playing Elden Ring as a virgin and now you’re a soulsbourne veteran! And almost 20k subscribers! 🎉🎉🎉
When I first played I simply beat the base game without even considering the DLC, but after a couple years I decided to give it a try and nowadays I can’t see the game without it. Simply put, this game is a masterpiece and an adventure unlike any other. So happy and lucky I got to see it all again with ya bro, thanks for everything
Knowing this was the final boss it was so emotional. When that 2nd phase hit I broke into tears. It was everything I could have wanted from a final boss. Perfection.
This trilogy is such an epic journey, that is almost impossible to make it any better. It's sad this journey has ended, but knowing another one is coming, warms my heart. Kind regards.
On your playthroughts in the future, you should pick the best part of the episodes and and the end make a highlight video of the entire series. I would love that, at least
What an amazing ride! I'm so happy you enjoyed this game as much as I did. Slave knight gael is so legendary and is easily my favorite boss. The fact that he went so far and fought so long to help create a new world for all, free from the restraint of the gods and the undead curse is the most heroic thing in the entire series.
I happily discovered this channel back in the days of "Souls virgin vs Elden Ring" and it makes me so happy to see how much you have grown since then, not only in terms of views and subscribers, but most importantly, as a person. Your dedication, perseverance and your closeness to the beautiful community you have created in this channel has made you a S-tier content creator, simple as that. Thank you very much for this journey. You are amazing, Mati. We are proud of you ❤
What a journey, been here since the start of Bloodborne and love every video since. Gael really is such an amazing send-off for the trilogy. Can't wait for lore and chill for this game as there's some really good stuff, and after that we (most likely?) move on to Sekiro, definitely one of the better games FromSoftware have made (not that others aren't good, obviously!) and the combat for Sekiro feels so good, although it does have a hell of a learning curve if you're used to souls and elden ring combat. Remember; deflect, not dodge! Edit: I think (personally) you chose the right, canon ending. I recommend watching the other endings to see them, but ending the linking of fire was inevitable, even since Gwyn's age of fire. If you link the fire in DS3, it barely smoulders over you, whereas at the end of DS1 it's a huge, pretty much explosive event. Londor can also take care of itself.
The coolest part about Gael for me is that if, for some reason, you were using the Hollowslayer Greatsword, you'd see that he starts taking bonus damage in his 2nd phase. This means that, at the end of the world, the oldest undead finally learns that the Dark Soul coursed through his veins, and he goes hollow right in front of your eyes, faced with the realization that his eon long hunt was for nothing. Such a crazy example of the devs having enough attention to detail to literally make him a hollow as of his second phase even though the player would have next to no chance of seeing that. Been a long run Mati, I've been chilling since DS1. Super cool to see the channel grow and to have been along for this journey.
Congrats man. I fell behind on this series and wasnt able to watch as you went a long, but well done. I will catch up later. Not an easy feat. Youre becoming a beast. I hope Sekiro is next. Take care and until next time....peace!
@@jeremyrm7 yup I feel like he FLEW through this one. I was able to watch DS1 & 2 live as he released them. Regardless, got content for the future :) I think once he gets the hang of Sekiro's combat, he will fly through as well. He's a natural.
Oh man I was actually sad to see this in my notifications even though I was anticipating this for a long time I started rewatching your Elden Ring playthrough and I’m amazed by how far you’ve gotten and how much the channel has changed From 1.4k subs as “Matias Gago” to nearly 20k as “Mati” I’m happy to have been here for almost every episode of your soulsborne journey for the last year, and I’m sure everyone in this awesome little community is just as proud to see you complete the Dark Souls trilogy Edit: That was a really wholesome credits chat :)
man this series was SO GOOD. It's been so inspiring to see your journey from Elden Ring all the way to DS3. Your enthusiasm for the souls series is infectious (the good kind lol). I remember rolling credits on DS3 the first time and just being really emotional. To think back to every struggle I had, every time I felt like I couldn't continue, and everything I overcame...all to one moment of bittersweet sadness. Enough to make a grown man cry
the fact that when you enter phase 2 the music picks up in such a dramatic way, and then in phase 3 for the music to pick up even more while gael goes absolutely beserk and lightning chases you around the arena, such an amazing fight. Even better once you know how tragic gaels story is. btw Vaati does have a gael video, actually I think it's 3 videos, in case you were craving more of his buttery voice
Uncle Gael♥️♥️ what a journey! I enjoyed every episode of your DS3 series and i don’t usually watch a full play through before but you’re something else my dude.. thanks for the great content
I love that you appreciate the music so much. 😄 DS3’s score is amazing! (Drives me nuts that they took it off of iTunes…) Anyway, congrats on your Dark Souls MASTERY!! Looking forward to Sekiro. :)
Glad you liked it. This game IMO served as the perfect conclusion to the franchise. This is absolute peak from soft - what a fucking studio. Their design ethos, attention to detail and care is second to none. Truly unique.
One of the best bosses in the souls series. Man this is sad that it’s over but happy i was here from the start. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you channel
Something a bit beside the point but I really want to see you replay Elden Ring whenever the DLC gets a release date and were close to it. Plus some Lore and Chill videos on Elden Ring too. I love the concept of Gael's fight. Two nobody fighting over nothing in the middle of nowhere. And I just notice from Mati reading Gael's Soul, he knew he woudn't come back from that journey so that's why since Dreg Heap hes been leaving you white signs with parts of his cape so you know where to go next.
Love the fact that you just play the game and learn from it; there's just an absurd amount of content creators that look up for online guides, making their playthrough unbearable. Thanks, mate. 😊
Was a pleasure to be here for the series man 🫡 Looking forward to you finishing Hollow Knight, probably doing Sekiro then Demons Souls, and then whatever you do next. I'll be here for all of it
I don’t think I’ll ever get the hype behind his lore. I’ve delved into it, but there’s just nothing special there other than him being basically an ancient being; which is cool given what he’s gone through, but just isn’t that interesting to me. Not to mention his whole quest for the blood of the dark soul is kinda lame lol. Cool but lame.
@@dthomas7931 That's what's kinda special about him though! In a world full of legendary godly beings like Gwyn and his offsprings, the final boss of the whole series is just a random ambitious guy not unlike the ashen one himself. At the world's end It's basically two nobodies fighting each other over nothing.
@@dthomas7931For me I think that's the point, in the state the world of DS3 is not even the Dark Soul holds meaning. And Gael is just clinging to the only thing that can give the world a bit of hope.
The perfect way to end the trilogy. No kings, warriors or knights. Just two nobodies at the end of the world. This series really is special and I'm so glad I was here to watch you through it all. Can't wait for the next one 😊
What a blast man! Slave Knight Gael is my best boss out of the trilogy. I glad you enjoyed the journey as well. For lore episode, I recommend video by ratatoskr "The painted world is the metaphor for video games". It's talk about the trilogy and why it needs to be ended.
Hearing about you losing footage for DS2 is literally my worst nightmare lol. But we can tell you put in a ton of work for the videos (I can't imagine editing until 4am). So stoked for you to continue Hollow Knight and ofc start Sekiro. Sekiro is right up there with Bloodborne and Elden Ring for me :)
This is the moment I've been waiting for a long time to see on your channel. Two nobodies in the middle of nowhere, fighting over nothing because there is nothing left to do. Love this series. Your videos are now a part of my weekly schedule like some TV series. Thank you Mati.
Slave Knight Gael is my favorite boss of all time, hands down. Every time I merely just think about th fight, I get chills and I want to fight him again. Every part is done perfectly, the mechanics, the fairness, the length of the fight, the difficulty, the lore, the buildup, the spectacle, the ost, everything. I don't think it would have been possible to create a better sendoff to the series than Gael. It was a blast watching this series and I can't wait to see what future endeavors you undertake.
I thought it was the opposite, in the first phase he acts more like a beast. In the second he uses his full arsenal as if he regained control and became more human
@@Ecco_The_Dolphin Hollowing has unique quirks in DS3 that can be a bit confusing to grasp. My understanding is that once the 2nd phase starts, he recognises that he has the blood of the Dark Soul, and with his task finally complete he goes hollow because he no longer has a purpose. The power of the Dark Soul seems to be giving him some sense of controll though, and by the 3rd phase it overwhelms him. My guess is that due to the effects of the Dark Soul, hollowing makes Gael stronger, which is interesting to think about.
This series was a blast to watch. It makes me happy you had such a great time with it. This game has so much cool stuff in it. I look forward to the next time you return to it. Thank you for sharing this.
Congratulations Mati! I hope you enjoy Sekiro, it’s really good. I also hope you do another Elden Ring play through, especially with the DLC coming up 🎉
one finds sadness in the ending of a tale but joy can be found as the next story begins, you probably won't see this or recognise my handle but you are doing amazing mati, you are amazing, i looke foreward to your next videos and i hope you reach the levels of fame akin to coryxkenshin or markiplier
I began watching your Bloodborne series, and it's been super fun to watch you have fun and your channel grow! You've honestly given me a courage to start doing my own stuff!
This…this has been a crazy crazy ride. I started out looking for a fresh and new Souls content channel. All the way from DS1, to recently DS2 and waited week after week for each new episode of DS3, it was truly a treasure. Truly, your genuine love for these games made me want to Subscribe, and I think I’ll be sticking around for more content from you Mati, this journey has been very VERY wild. And I can’t wait for Sekiro, Demon’s Souls and whatever else you decide to put out for us. You have my most utmost respect and support Mati, keep up the great and amazing work! ❤❤
Sad to see it come to an end but your reaction to Gael was worth it, i get instant goosebumps everytime I hear the start of the 2nd phase's music. Also, fun fact, Gael actually turns hollow in the 2nd phase because weapons like the Curse-rotten Greatwood's sword actually do more dmg to him from the 2nd phase. His soul also looks alot like humanity from DS1, which could be because, well, he ate the dark soul and as you'll see in Vaatividya's videos the dark soul goes hand in hand with humanity. Anyways it was so fun to watch along this playthrough it got me through my exams so thank you for that :) Also as for other AMAZING games I'd love to watch you play, I have to mention Outer Wilds (and if you can stand horror (if not that's fine), SOMA is an amazing thought provoking game that really changed my view on what it means to be human, super rad).
Dude you’re incredible. I discovered you a bit late on this journey, about 3 episodes into ds3. Im so stoked to have found your channel and I am now going back and watching your others as I wait for sekiro. Cheers and props to you, can’t wait for more.
I still can't believe this is over. It's like- the end. The actual end. You know... stories are special for a reason. Because they have an end. And I think that... today... that I finally finished all the final exams... I'm slowly starting to realise this... Life goes on. Time passes... it really flies away when you have fun.
I’ve literally watched every single episode of your Soulsborne vids and I quite literally shed some tears watching you finish up the lineup. It is genuinely so refreshing and hilarious watching you witness the beauty and crazy mechanics and lore of all these games. Grazie for the journey, Mati! Cannot wait to see you start the next one! 🫶
An awesome video to wrap up an awesome series! I'm looking forward to your watchalong of lore videos for DS3. Once you learn more about Gael, you discover that he really is the perfect ending to the series. I also can't wait for more Hollow Knight, your Sekiro playthrough, boss rankings, and everything else you've mentioned as possibilities. So much cool stuff is coming!
Four months late, dont know if youll read this but I gotta say it: I dont have the money for a console or a pc to run these games, and even if I did, I don't think I have the motor skills to ever be good enough to beat them. Ive watched so, so many playthroughs of these games, DS3 in particular, and yours is the best. Certifiably goated. Thank you for the insane grind you put in, it doesnt go unnoticed, and thank you for letting people like me live vicariously through your gameplay. Your appreciation of the lore, the visuals, the music, the mechanics - it doesnt go unnoticed. Thank you a million times - genuinely sad this is over, and so excited to watch you continue your excellent work 🙏
My favorite attack of his is one he rarely uses. where when he's jumping and doing those flips in the air he actually shoots you with the crossbow mid air.
As a Spear of the Church enjoyer, it’s no fun just killin someone and impeding their progress. I really like PvP and just want to have a little fun with the host, and hope they do too. But I get that PvP is not for everyone
