LYRICS: I'm fighting from the fire again. The whole time I was spread beneath the ashes. I'd rather leave but if we had to go back I'd take only you. Maybe my foundation was poured to be cracked open. I watched the light find it's way in. Maybe my life was meant to be tested. How else will you learn from me failing. I wanna step out of your shadow, But when I do there's no sunlight at all. Pressed against the wall we can't stop breaking. These nights, they never fail to show us Who we are. I can't wait to be born again. I belong here, I was meant to be condemned for your fears. Sometimes you need to look down to find faith again. I'd rather see you die than watch you choke. I'd rather see you die than watch you hurt. I wanna step out of your shadow, But when I do there's no sunlight at all. Pressed against the wall we can't stop breaking. These nights, they never fail to show us Who we are. I wanna step out of your shadow, But when I do there's no sunlight at all. Pressed against the wall we can't stop breaking. These nights, they never fail to show us Who we are.
Why is it, that when I read the lyrics online, it says, "I'd rather see you die, than watch you grow". Yet if you listen to the vocals of JC, the verse sounds like, "I'd rather see you die, than watch you hurt"? Really confusing me with that one, but all in all, possibly my favorite song on the album at the moment.
+Brandon Setsodi its actually 2 lines First line: I'd rather see you die, than watch you choke Second line: I'd rather see you die, than watch you hurt Then chorus Hope it helps!
This album is without a doubt Jonnys best work besides DBM. Light years ahead of slaves first album. I don’t understand how anybody can listen to this and not see that. Amazing and passionate vocals, lyrics, and songwriting. This album is so underrated.
I can somewhat see it, but don’t completely agree. Lyrically and vocally it may resemble older emarosa. Musically it’s not even close. As much as I love slaves and the new lineup, this has a totally different sound musically. Old emarosa was heavy, fast and hard with clean and unclean vocals. Great time for the scene in my opinion. Then again, I’m old as fuck now and am trying like hell to hang on to the good old sound.
+Lyndsey Broyles during the dgd ten year anniversary I got to see him and we had a fee drinks it was literally the best experience for me, if you see him live he usually hangs around the merch tables
When he comes to Fresno, he has a drink at Strummer's after he performs. All the fans drink with him and have a great time. Pretty cool, even DGD goes after they play at that venue
+King Zagan sad u don't enjoy it mate. I liked the 1st album but this is the best cleancore album I've heard since the 1st hands like houses album, just perfect, imo ofc
+GusMOfficialChannel Cleancore! Never heard that. I like it. Good way to describe bands like Slaves, Hands Like Houses, Miss Fortune and Too Close to Touch. Thanks
Adam Artz dude wtf are u talking about? no one said they were metalcore, cleancore is meant to designate core bands with full clean vocals, just like the ones we've mentioned, and it's not even a genre
