Sad how ugly people are being. I agree the band is not the same without Johnny (I saw them twice last year. ) With that said I'm glad this guy is not trying to be who he is not. He is kind of spinning the songs in his style and yes it's not the same but it's not bad. I will continue to support the band because things happen and I wish all of them the best. ❤️ I hope with all my heart Johnny can get the help he needs because he is such a talented man. But the show must go on whether we all like it or not....
Agree with all of this 100%. Jonny is such a unique singer, it would be sad hearing someone try and “sound” like Jonny. Matt is killing it making these songs his own! And for learning 10 songs on a plane right over to Europe!
I mean to be fair it's not making them his own it's simply not being able to hit and hold and have the vibrato and soul Jonny has. This guy is talented yes,but Jonny is blessed with natural raw talent not years of training and unfortunately there is a huge difference. Much respect to you Colin, I still jam you guys and look forward to more new material that truly fits the new vocals. But I am sad the music is not near as heavy on these tracks I've heard😥
I agree .The way Jonny sings is only possible with his voice since he sings from pain, and suffering which he transfers onto others.. Matt brings a new take on this band, and it's way more positive.
It's a real shame, but at some point Jonny has to hit rock bottom and total misery. Then and only then will he actually seek sincere help and not publicity help. Look at how many bands he's been in and out of in rapid succession. Everyone in the business knows he can be the greatest alt-rock/post-HC type of singer of his generation. The sad reality though is that at any moment he could fuck up so bad that he takes whatever band he's in down with him and no one deserves that. After being dropped by Slaves and replaced by a contestant on The Voice (hes great dont get me wrong) I hope these bands looking for a great frontman realize Jonny wont stop abusing drugs if he keeps getting any lucrative opportunities. It has to hurt his soul every time a band collectively kicks him out and he probably acts like he doesnt give a fuck, but I'm sure he does. He's a very emotional person but he chooses to sometimes utilize it through music and most of the time hide away with a needle in his body or pills down his throat. Truly hope no one hires him so he can get some actual rehab in and step work or I guarantee we will see his death on a shitty click bait internet tabloid website within the next 4 or 5 years. And thats being generous.
Would be interesting to see them Re-record this song with the Vocal arrangement used at this show. Nice to see a singer adjust the way it sounds to fit their own voice instead of trying to sound like Jonny. That was a big issue with Saosin and Cove Reber, he tried way too hard to sing like Anthony Green.
Wow thank you for realizing that! Most people are expecting to hear someone trying to sound exactly like Jonny. And that is never going to happen. Jonny is way to unique of a singer. That being said, we are LOVING how Matt is making this his own! Glad to see other people are as well!
You all forget he left DGD and they are sounding fckn amazing with Tilian... their newer material is much better put together and has been higher on the charts and better received then anything with JC in it. Just give him a hot minute to settle in
Jonny Craig - that's name of the project ))) Before Slaves Jonny singing in Ghost Runner on Third, Dance Gavin Dance, Emarosa and solo project, then in Dance Gavin Dance again and Solo, then Solo Only and with strange rapper Kyle Something, and finally in Slaves.
This dude is changing the entire melody, it's fucking butchering the actual song, even though he's hitting the notes. Add your own flavor, sure, don't change the fucking melody.
Precisely because of these type of comments he should be singing this song, everyone was doubting him, everyone writing the band and him off, thinking theyd be let down, but nah, they found a true gem in Matt.
