Slavic Myths: the Domovoy
The old slavic people believed that a Domovoy lives in every home. He lives behind the oven where they would throw all kinds of rubbish for him. The Domovoy were believed to be Spirits of previous house owners, but not necessarily - they could also move in from somewhere else.
The Domovoy is a benevolent spirit, he will do no harm unless angered.
To favour him one can offer bread crust, porridge or snuff.
