I’m polish. When my wife was in her early stages of pregnancy my godmother said she could determine the gender of the baby with a “trick” that was passed down to her. She didn’t want me to tell anyone (oops) like it was a secret. She took a strand of my wife’s hair and ran it through my wedding band. The way the ring naturally spun would determine the gender. She guessed a boy. We had a boy. We didn’t take it seriously at the time but I always thought about it. This video reminder me of that.

Agreed. My great grandparents moved to the us, and my dad changed his last name from fasczcewski to Oliver (his middle name), with the rest of the family of his generation changing it to faski. All 3 of my father’s children have grown up to resent it as our history was washed out through generations and we all want it back. The ‘new’ last name just feels inauthentic.

Male Slavic Sorcerers as servants of the God Veles were said to be able to transform into various sacred Animals, particularly Wolves. This is possibly one of the origin stories for the Slavic Werewolf lore.🐺

@Stefan S Veles is a Horned God or Forest God which is an Indo-European or Aryan Archytype that is present in all Indo-European or Aryan cultures. Which includes Persia and the Slavic Tribes. But people tend to be more familiar with the Gaelic version which is Cernunnos. Veles is specifically Slavic in nature, the Persians have their own version of him altogether.

Lah(s) or Leh(s)/Lech(s) is ancient way Polish people were called, an old name for Poland Lehia/Lechia/ Lehistan still in Turkish. Lah meant master (of himself) as everybody were equal/free status. Polach- Polak, literally means - after Lach- who was, as the legend say, the first leader of Poles. Nothing to do with Italians. Witch - wiedzma. Witcher/Druid - Wedun. (w=v) comes from wiedza/ Veda means knowledge . Yes, same like in Sanskrit.(ProtoIndoEuropeans roots) Yes, Slavs had their Vedas, now remains of it found mainly in Russian. Witches were not only healers, they were bearers of knowledge of the past- history, culture, origins. That's way Christians were killing and burning them so viciously. Slava

@@finezyjnafantazja2495 thank you for information. But when I was searching Slavic history in the data I was able to collect so far, I found and information that Lachy was just one tribe of Polish nation. The name originate from tribe Lędzianie . They lived in north east. Those information I found in books from 10th and 11th century where they write about people of today Poland aria and Slavic tribes. Second big tribe was Vistulans (Wiślanie) . And the third biggest tribe was Polanie. And that is where the countrys name comes from now. So, I guess, you still would call yourself by any of these names, as we in Serbia do also. And one would find all of them in old texts, as we slavic people tend to use names of our tribes, our land, or even our job to describe to other people of Slavic origin who we are. We still use a lot of that also. I just guess that the name of the land was changing depending which tribe a king came from during the period or something like that. As Lechians were written down as tribe that was of greaat skills over boats and vessels. I also found out that they were in different books written down by many different versions of the name as foreign travelers had issues pronauncing slavic words. But all sujest one the same slavic root.

It's probably connected actually. Celtic and Slavic tribes mixed through history. Word druid comes from dru-wid (knower of the oak) and a Slavic version would be drv-vid (seer of trees). Worship of trees is the oldest known religious practice among Slavic people, before gods an goddesses. In Slavic mythology oak is not just a holy tree, but The World Tree, like Ygdrassil in Nordic mythology.

See this is where we hit grey area. The whole sacrificing animals comes from abrahamic religions. It is said that the offerings that Slavs made to the gods were not of sacrifice. Could it be that during the Time period that Christianity was spreading a mixture of both Slavic paganism and Christian customs began to occur. Leading up to ancient Slavs bringing in animal sacrifices as offerings?
@EwigWinterreich
@EwigWinterreich 5 лет назад
Nonsense. Animal sacrifice was one of the main elements of Slavic paganism. Each god had an animal connected with him. Even today, in 2019, Slavs in villages still perform these sacrifices in certain parts of the year. Major of these is connected to Perun (Saint Illias the Thunderer) and rural people have countless rituals on this date, many of which include sacrificing of animals.

Watch Dracula movie and you can get some clues about homosexualism and cannibalism or vampire. But I believe that movie does not represent the true nature of lovely Romanian people.

Even now every Slav cacrefice lamb to the pagan god Dabog, Dajbog or Dažbog on the 23 aplile but now that is st. George or Djurdjevdan or Gurgevden from prersian language gorg=wolf and Dabog is white wolf. Persian called Gorgians wolf people from gorg=wolf and by christianity st. George was born in Gerogia, coincidence or not? Same god was addopted by Romans from Etruscans and they called him Volcan=volc=volk=vuk. Before Etruscans came to Italy they lived in Lyca (lycantropy) and on Lemnos, home of greek god Hephestus who share same attributes with Dabog and Volcan...

The relationship, spiritual interaction and sheer joy of nature is ingrained over millennium in the European folk soul. Call it genetic memory if you like. These aspects seem much more extensive as a matter of degree, than compared with non- European peoples of the world. The simplest way to say it would describe European people's (white people) possessing a forest mind and soul.

Shamanism is a Finno-Ugric, Turkic, and Mongol practice. For Slavs there were volkhvs (Волхв) similar to Norse völva. Also žrec (жрец) from Proto-Slavic *žьrti (жртва). Then you have the vedmak (also вештац, wiedzmin, etc.), koldun, vedunya, chernorizets (old slavic - Чръноризьць), etc...Wizardry is a very silly, unhistorical term.

In 1985-86 , i had a big hardened corn on my left pinky , several times it was cut with a scalpel and i was on antibiotics (7->8 y.o.) , nothing... One day my grandma told me : sit quietly and wait , one of my childhood friends will come to make you a magic , couse i am angry of your parents......the other old Lady comes , ask for a few things , including: a sewing needle, potato, sewing white cotton string....while preparing all that bunch of nonlinked objects, She starts to make a knots on the thread ,7 as far as i remember, and start to make a compliments , how pretty green are my eyes are....after that she started to speak quietly something , not in Bulgarian, not in Serbian , and not in Romanian...i just felt dizzy, and in a half a minute , any blood , any skin problem...... Until today just have a 0.1 mm point with more rose color, and that is .....(to be a Vrač)....

Slavs have a strong association with Magia in general, but even more nowadays. I'm a mixed Slavic (Russian) and Caucasian Jew. Most of my family from my father side has -slav on their names. Perhaps having also some Persian, Turkish, and Mongolian in me, according to history.

Odlićno Burazer.... sviđalo mi se. Veštica or witch in english came from the desert cult majority of Us Slavs practice today..... “witches” or midwives/ sorceress were healers or keepers of tradition..... I recommend good reads like “Secret of the She Bear “🐻 by Marie Cachet..... or Chernobog’s Riddles by RU-vid’s “World Tree” If interested in our Rodnover roots on this subject..... even writes on bees and beekeeping..... as you have brought up..... I’d also suggest Varg Vikernes books on these subjects. Id recommend his channel..... however it was taken down by the Global....New world order powers to be..... due to his honesty. Keep up the good work. Slava Rodu!!
