On the topic of psychoanalysis, Slavoj Zizek and Stephen Grosz discuss the phenomenon of collective trauma, in which an entire group, or even culture, suffers emotional scars from the same experience as one another, and the psychology of the group or culture can therefore only be understood in detail in light of this formative experience.
Stephen Grosz is a prominent practising psychoanalyst, having being educated at Balliol College, Oxford, and at the University of California, Berkeley, taught psychoanalysis at the University College London, and also has experience as a psychoanalyst in London. He has also written his own book, called The Examined Life.
