Not to Rain in your parade, but I have learned that people in the entertainment industry that smiles a lot is 'cause they're trying to hide who they're really are. Araya is a trumper. But I listen to his songs, cause I really like 'em,and the band is an all time metal classic.
Despite the importance of bands like Metallica, Exodus, Testament, Megadeth, Anthrax, OverKill, etc., for me, the group that definitively shaped the sound of what we know today as Thrash Metal was Slayer with Reign in Blood. I consider them the definitive and supreme band of the Thrash movement, influencing many people since then. Another interesting point is that Slayer became a big Metal band without resorting to melodic and commercially appealing songs.
You are 100% accurate they are super friendly humble nice guys. As a matter of fact yeah...most metal bands I've met over the years are totally super nice. It's the smaller goth bands that have the attitude...not all goth bands but a handful I've met over the years in the early 90's many of them have been stuck up pricks and they're just club level bands. lol The Cruxshadows are cocks...very good musicians and excellent showmanship but assholes and bitches. I worked with them a few times back in the day.
It'S funny that that is the way with most singers of Extreme Metal Bands....like for example George Fisher of Cannibal Corspe is real life Teddy Bear. :D
I got into Slayer when I was 13 years old - I turn 50 next birthday. They still remain today as one of my favorite bands - this is one of my favorite songs off my favorite Slayer album. Reign in Blood and War Ensemble are up there as well. I first saw them live at the age of 19 on their first tour to Australia in support of the "Divine Interviention" album and last saw them in my 40's on their final tour. Have been lucky enough to see them 5 times in my home country (4 concerts and 1 festival) and twice in Europe. Always intense and I always felt "cleansed" after a Slayer show. Was privielged to have seen them when Jeff was still alive (RIP) and also all 3 of their drummers - Dave Lombardo, Paul Bostaph and Jon Dette. There is no such thing as a former Slayer fan.. once a Slayer fan, always a Slayer fan. Thanks for the reaction vid and glad you enjoyed it!
One of the most intense bands ever. They retired a couple years ago. Jeff Hanneman the lead guitar with the hair passed away and that slowed them down. Tom the singer said he was done and wanted to spend more time with his grandkids.
This is one of the best and most brutal metal songs of all time. Even if you don't like it, you can appreciate the intensity at which they play. Slayer is not for everyone but the Slayer fans are the most insane and passionate.
I saw their concert from farewell tour in person. Araya was standing on the stage at the end which felt like forever. Silently saying goodbye to all. Even more intense than their show.
This particular album is a masterpiece of composition and rhythm dynamics. Each song transitions seamlessly into the next one (so it's good to use a music player that doesn't add gaps between them), and the grand finale is legendary especially if you've allowed yourself to really get into the music. The album contains 10 songs but is only about 30 minutes in length, so if you're at all interested it's definitely worth experiencing!
I saw them in London years ago and they did the entire album as an encore, it was crazy, but it highlights exactly what you said, each song just flows into the next
This song has a much deeper meaning than a lot of people would think the first time they might have started listening to rock or metal music, I would say that most rock and metal songs have a message/story to them.
@@sabina1118 Right: The Dr Mengele....if you like the movies and the nazi history I recommend you "The Boys from Brasil" a movie about dr Mengele and his experiments :)
@@antoniocarlin5026 With Gregory Peck. Mengele drowned in Brazil in 1979,his body determined as his only in 1985.The same year that Titanic wreck was to be found.
Yep. The song is about the Nazi doctor Josef Mengele, aka the Angel of Death. He performed horrific experiments on prisoners in Auschwitz, and the song goes into details of the those atrocities.
@@sabina1118 Yes it is about Mengele. Slayer admitted in interviews that they are not satanic or nazi etc. they just sing about the ugliness and horror in life and love to fuck with people. They just sing about the ugliness in life and present it to the world simple as that. They are artists....crazy but artists and most people with critical thinking will easily understand them and their art and message.
I'm really a diehard fan of slayer thanks to my father and I went to see them several times in concert with him already it was a privilege to be On his shoulders and seeing them up close I must have been 8 or 10 years old and I really fell in love with Jeff Hanneman I found him very handsome with his blond hair and he was impressive Both by his guitar playing and the build that escapes r.i.p Jeff Hanneman I miss you But a great guitarist managed to settle into slayer thing Not easy, thank you Gary Holts for making us dream again during the remaining years of the group SLAYER IN LIFE AND IN DEATH!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻😢😢😢
This was Slayer at their strongest. Dave had returned to the band 2 years prior, Jeff was still alive, Kerry wasn’t as much of a douche as he was later, and Tom could still headbang.
I used to rock a mixed tape back in high school. Double sided, all Slayer. Nicknamed after the band all through high school. Zero regrets. Still a huge fan, these guys are absolutely legends.
This era un slayer's history show all four members at their absolute best both technically and physicality in their playing , they were like the slayer that recorded show no mercy and he'll awaits , still a group of friends with the same goal , money started to change things as far back as the recording of the reign in blood album , managers got in Kerry's ear and convinced him that Dave lombardos contribution on the drums wasn't as valuable to the band as the contributions of Jeff and himself , tom didbt write lyrics back then so he wasn't paid the same as Jeff and Kerry , the management wanted to pay Dave half of what Kerry and Jeff were getting ( bare in mind Dave arranged many of the songs and it was his drumming that caught the attention of the metal world ) I truly believe that Dave's drumming was the thing that got them signed , if they had a less talented drummer I don't see how slayer would have gained the same popularity amongst the metal heads of the time , the way Dave puts his beats down to slayer riffs is so different than the way most drummers would approach it , he's actually left handed and footed but plays a right handed set up on his drums , that alone makes his beats and drum fills sound somehow much different to the other drummers that were coming up at the same time , there's just something special about his playing style , I'm not saying the other thrash drummers aren't as good , I'm simply saying that Dave lombardo has that something special thing that we don't see often , he is self taught and that will have a massive impact on his approach as opposed to the drummers who were taught to read drum tablature as they learned to play along .
A reference to Auschwitz tells you immediately that Slayer are going to sprinkle their lyrical gold dust on one of the horrors of modern history. Link that to Dr Josef Mengele, the angel of death at Auschwitz, and you have a band with a mission to attack and destroy. Slayer have always had the ability to paint the world with great metal music. Okay, it may not be your first dance choice at your wedding, but it could open up any metal festival. What a song…a song with a built in sonic boom. Sabina…I can imagine your head nodding in rhythm at a wine bar in the heart of Geneva a week after this reaction…loved it.👏👏
Here in Brazil I watched the Slayer Show 5 times... The first time was in 1994 at Monsters of Rock on the Divine Intervention tour... the second time was in 1998 on the Diabolus in musica tour....the third time was in 2006 on the tour of Christ Illusion in the band's original formation .... This show was special for me because it was in a private club and I was 3 meters away from Jeff Hanemman .... the fourth and fifth show went to Rock in Rio
Sabina…. Great pick!! Their music is iconic, but this specific song is amazing…. Listen to the studio version, and read the lyrics…. It’s quite controversial the topic, but the music is beyond exceptional….. you gained a new fan/follower today…. ✌️❤️😈🔥
Here in the Netherlands we have a radio show called the Top 2000. It's a list of 2000 songs past to present times where the people from the Netherlands can vote for, and it will be played from the 25th of Decemeber till the 31st of Decemeber. People of all ages vote for this list. And for the last few years This song is in that list, and it's there to stay. Maybe this can tell you how good this song is. I guess i don't need to tell everyone how controversal this song is. Because after the scream the 1st words you hear is Auschwitz the meaning of pain. Many people who don't know about this song hear that and made up their minds. Funny story, my dad bought Reign in blood for me. And he said well put the record on. I didn't want to, because i knew that Angel of Death would be played. So i had to warn him, NOT to have his opinion based on the first words. So he knew and think about what he was hearing. My dad doesn't like any style of music. So i didn't have to tell him about the lyrics, because he didn't make it to the scream. This music was way to heavy for him. LoL
Considered one of the godfathers of thrash, and with good reason. My favorite albums are Seasons In The Abyss, for the title track & "Dead Skin Mask", both slower than their usual material; and South of Heaven, the title track which is slower too, and "Silent Scream" which is perhaps their fastest but is simply amazing both musically & lyrically (it ascends from mere thrash into precision speedmetal, in my opinion) and is also controversial. Solid rage therapy, with a little ethereal/creepy thrown in for good measure.
Hi, I love you as I say to all first time reacting to metal. The mosh pit, the crowd surfing, and back when it was free, it's called staged diving. My age is 48, 1986 bro, was the best year in my life, hearing and experiencing the thrash music. We are old now, I appreciate you. "Goodnight, we love you all " 💪🤟✌️
I like to watch you when you hear Angel of death.Slayer is my favourite band and l listen whole my life them and other thrash metal bands.I have 46 years and still love this kind of music 🤘🏻 greetings from SERBIA 🇷🇸
The Joy and Awe on your face was so genuine I think I might have cried. Tom is a wonderful man and great father. Got the opportunity to have audience with them at Yankee Stadium before Jeff Died. Truly wonderful people, EVERY.SINGLE. ONE. (don't believe the hype😇)
Hello Sabina. Welcome to slayer. I love watching your reactions. I saw slayer on the reign in blood tour in 86. Many times since. Greetings from U.S.A. Take care and have a wonderful day.
Hordon pavilion Sydney with my brothers.... maybe 08, 09 ? Fark what a gig . Someone threw a 20 c piece at Tom and he stopped the gig for mebbe 20 seconds and told the crowd Slayer didn't need the money 😄😄😄😄 Extraordinarily wild night where Everyone in the house went psycho .... Mortal Sin and Mastodon opened. They were ok but a subdued house went Joe bonkers bananas when the big boiz came out to play. Powerful memories
Ok I've been a Slayer fan since the 80s!!!!! They are the best when it comes to hardcore in your face kick ass METAL. They have always been like thisand may they live forever!!!
I heard a couple of Slayer songs in passing when I was a teen but never got into them.... Until I watched this specific DVD where this video comes from, idk something about their playing and energy when playing live is something I have yet to see from any other band. I can not tell you how much fun Slayer is to see live, sadly the lead singer Tom is officially retired and they most likely don't be doing shows anymore =(
That was so cool man. Look at it like this. I'm around your age I think. I have no children. But I would be so happy to have such a funny son. And he rocks out to this. One of my favourite songs/videos since it came out. And like you said. Still looks new. It always seemed futuristic to me. Partly maybe because it's all done and filmed in Finland? I found that out a few years ago
thats very great best masterpiece slayer reign in blood classic album legendary of the world. I love great best band favorite slayer. thank you slayer jeff and kerry greatest playing guitar solo the true trash metal forever 🤘🎸
New sub. Love your style of doing this. And aww, man, you shouldn't be jealous of anyone else's hair! I first watched "Unchained Melody" and my first thought going in was "She's got great hair."
My very first concert was with Slayer as the headliner, Lamb of God opened for them too which was an epic combo, and Mastodon was before Lamb of God with their Leviathan album which is still an epic album. It was the greatest concert I've ever been to, that was 17 years ago and I feel like I've been chasing that concert ever since. Slayer opened with 2 giant upside down crosses coming out of the ceiling made of bolted together speaker cabs while Kerry King doing the opening rift to South of Heaven, to I've never been to anything that compares to that concert, 90% of the floor was a mosh pit their whole set.
Lol ...a first timer...actually second , and SLAYER still takes it up a few notches.... That is why they are ,in my opinion, the best meatl band of all time... and they are origi actors who craved a path for so MANY SLAYER BABIES . Choose in perfection and grooves pushed to the max limits all while keeping a rocking vibe n drive in the beat! SO COOL FOR YOU TO HAVE AN OPEN MIND N GET IT... ITS A CERTAIN TYPE OF MUSIC FOR A HEAVY LOUD INTENSE TIME.... IF YOUR SEEKING A RELAXING TYPE OF VIVE THIS IS NOT WHERE YOULL FINE SLOW RYTHYMS AT ALL TGEY ARE TRULY ONE OF TYE MOST AMAZING BANDS TO SEE LIVE.... THERE ARE NO WORDZ ....BLEW AWAY ALL THE OTHERS N "EVERYOBE THERE ON TOUR KNOWS THAT SLAYER IS A STEP AHEAD AND FOREVER UNTOUCHABLE ...FOR THE REST OF TIME...FACT!
The guitar player with long blonde hair is Jeff Hanneman who wrote this song. He tragically died in 2013 after being bitten by a very poisonous spider of all things. Massive loss for Slayer fans and the Metal community. After his death they got Gary Holt to fill in for him (he was in the Repentless video). Slayer would play this as the last song of the night at their shows. That part at the beginning when Tom screams the Slayer logo hanging up behind them would be replaced with a logo that read: Jeff Hanneman, The Angel of Death, 1964-2013, Still Reigning! 🤘🤘 Reactions like this prove his music is still reigning supreme!
Last time I saw Slayer live was in Charlotte. They were soooooooo loud for the venue. Also... Having attended a few Slayer concerts, I would not recommend venturing into the pit. 😂
Slayer are always great but seeing Slayer live is a whole other beast. I've never been happier than the times I was in a pit at their show. Thrash til death!
I have seen SLAYER over 100 times and they always bring their A-Game!!! However, I am going to introduce to to Cradle of Filth!!! I suggest either Her Ghost in the Fog or Nymphetamine Fix....you are welcome!!
I've seen these guys more than 10 times, and every concert was better than the other, and this song is about the halacaust, listen carefully and you'll hear it
