"Necrophiliac", a killer track from the "Hell Awaits" album released by "Slayer" in 1985.
I was 17 years old when the album came out and I started to play guitar that year, and Slayer was absolutely my main musical influence.
I think that "Hell Awaits" together with "Seven Churches" by Possessed were the beginning of the primitive "Death Metal" era,
enjoy.....

Danny Cynic True story, when Sodom tried to recruit Frank Blackfire to replace Destructor on guitar, he was skeptical after hearing Obsessed By Cruelty, but.... they played him Hell Awaits and told them THAT was the sound they wanted, and afterwards he joined.

Agreed at the time hell awaits and seven churches were set apart as a darker form and death metal applies. Listen how angel corpse used riffs from the hell awaits Album endlessly back then.

I think this is very good era in extreme music genre. Hell Awaits by Slayer, Leprosy by Death, Altars of Madness by Morbid Angel... very harsh music without compromise. ps. maybe a little "primitive" was Scream bloody gore which was a post-thrash album with pre-death metal elements . But not Hell Awaits !

Not a fan of fancy death metal. Possessed and Slayer from that time were tops for me. I like it thrashy, satanic , and the vocals mean. I couldn't ever get into Exodus or Anthrax or Overkill, for example. I've never burned out on Slayer.

For some reason to me, hell awaits the lp has no songs that really stand out to me. I don't why. It's overall a good record(a little quiet on the production imo), but none of the songs really stand out compared to show no mercy, haunting the chapel, and reign in blood. I can't explain it but i've always felt that way. I heard show no mercy first, then live undead, then haunting(1st lp i bought with my own money), then hell awaits, then reign(remember when it came out), then south of heaven.

Killer soloing bro, tight asf picking. On point slayer cover, would just say you should have a little fun with it, add in a gallop here or there, play an extra e chord you know, do a cover respectfully, but add your own touch!
