This band is one of my favorite all time. Been listening to them since 1987 and saw 'em my first time Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1989. I was a junior in high school. Then saw them in Lubbock, TX in 1993. Slayer headlined the tour " Clash of the Titans" Megadeth, Anthrax, and Alice In Chains.
I started seeing them in '88, only cause of my age and my mom would not let me go to a concert until then, but I can see that you are a huge fan like me and wish that they wouldn't have retired yet. But I love SLAYER so much, that I have their logo tattooed ony right arm....damn I miss FUCKING SLAYER!!!!!!
Lol, and this is arguably the most "tame" live version of this out there. But, it still separates your face from your skull. And, you can really hear the Punk flavor in this, and why most Thrash/Speed Metal bands were/are into Punk Rock. But, DAMN I miss this stuff in American Metal...it's all over the place nowadays.
The reference to Back to the Future when Marty was in front of the huge speaker and was blown back! Epic stuff ! And yes that's exactly what you experience at a Slayer concert! And Dave Lombardo is absolutely the fastest double bass player ever! And he was doing it back in the early 80s.. Paved the road for the future of the metal drummers!
Hell yeah!!.. I been waiting for this one. Dave Lombardo may not be the best drummer all time but IMO he is most definitely the best drummer alive currently. I can't think of anyone who can play better than him currently
Seen this band twice in '04 and '06 and the second time was the closest I got to dying at a concert. You had to be in shape or battle-hardened when you went to a Slayer gig, their fans are brutal. No safe place, mosh pits forming everywhere. And of course, the band killed it both times. Slipknot could not follow them in '04, the crowd was totally exhausted!
Slayer is badass!!! Lombardo is insane on drums. One of the bands I regret never seeing live!!!! BTW I remember the Scene from B2TF you were talking bout I loved those movies back in the day!
I bought a Marshall half stack off Facebook Marketplace with a Crate amplifier for $300 recently. They are in mint condition. I can check off that item from my bucket list now.
Dave Lombardo is king of the double bass. Arguably the best drummer in the world right now. Love him playing with Suicidal Tendencies song War Inside My Head please check it out

SLAYER!!! Last show of theirs I saw in that breakdown, grooving riff part me and like 5 people I didn't even know all put our arms around each other and forget headbanged we full body banged in time to the music.
Awesome! I had the great pleasure of seeing Slayer at Download 2007 and Suicidal Tendencies with Dave Lombardo at Bloodstock 2018, mind blowing on both occasions!!
I remember when I bought the Slayer, Reign in Blood tape in like 88 or something as a young metelhead teenager and the salesman needed to confirm I actually wanted that and wasn't making a mistake or something.

Slayer makes the dude look like he's about to be in a car accident :D If you can dissect their music and see what Slayer has put together, how could you not say that they were musical geniuses in every facet of their music?
In my youth when I "played" the drums I told me buddy (who played guitar) I'd like to learn this. We gave it a listen and he looked at me and said, "What do you really want to learn?"
As far as the cabinets, the bottom row are the only active ones, the top two rows are dummy cabs. For two reasons, one, the sound is not only being pumped directly to the audience but it also keeps the output away from the performers. Almost no live band will purposely have a row of active cabs inline with their heads... The reason for that, it would cancel out their monitors, which is what they are paying attention to
That's definitely right, you have to have stamina and endurance in slayer's mosh pit, I went and saw them in Seattle at quest field and I was in the mosh the entire time, there isn't a safe place anywhere and it's a virtual war zone, I'm so glad I was sober but two of my friends weren't and my one friend immediately got just smashed and my other friend hung for alittle bit then had to get out of there, I survived the pit and it was gigantic, I'm talking atleast a thousand or more. I was right below the stacks hanging from the ceiling and could feel the power rumbling off the floor.
