Hiroshima Electric Railway No. 156
This is one of the Type 150 cars built by Umebachi Ironworks in 1925. 75 years ago on that day, it was bombed near Eba.
The Hiroden train resumed operation 8 days later, and this train was also restored and was active until 1971.
In 1987, the train was reinstated and specially operated in Atomic Bomb Memorial Day. However, it was never operated after the following year and has been carefully preserved at the Eba garage.
Although No. 156 had been dormant for 33 years in the Eba garage, it was restored and repaired at the Senda garage in October 2020, and was able to run on the main line. On November 23, 2020, the day the Hiroden Line opened, the car was shown at a retro-tram event. Before and after the event, the train was transported from the Eba garage to the Senda garage. Because it was thought that we would never see the train running again, it was crowded with many fans on that day.
The miraculous revival of Hiroden No. 156
"Another A-bombed train," we hope to see more of it in the future.
