I waited to post a 'pinned' comment because I knew you guys would come through and fill me in about this song here in the comments. I'll just say that this song hits on a different level listening to it right now. Thank you all! 🖤
@CasualReactions 🤣 it seriously confused my other half when we went to their concert. He saw everyone cry at a few points and was just like "uhh ok" he just went with it lol and told me he understands now why I said it's not going to be like a regular metal concert
This song is about him describing his harsh experience of waking up after sadly trying to leave this world and the bandage up the trenches are the scars on his arms [that u can see live or on pictures of him]. "its blue light over murder for me " in Europe Ambulances lights are blue. "Eyes like frozen planets' are his loved ones seeing him in the hospital bed' . With this i hope all the lyrics make more sense
@@CasualReactions I think A lot of people miss it the first listen. When i realized what the song was about I completely broke down and if u go further down the rabbit hole. At the end of blood sport [ album version' the last minute of the song is Vessel weeping ]...cut to opening of next album is this song. Fuck me right lol 😭😭
The emotion in his voice is soul snatching! ❤❤ Just a suggeation, but try re-listening to this 1 with ur eyes closed. U can feel it more than hear it. The cries where u dont expect them are more prevalent too. So so sad n hauntingly beautiful at the same time. Nobody does it like ST!! ❤ WORSHIP for real!!
This song, now that you know the meaning, is such exquisite suffering. You said that he knows our pain. I think his pain speaks to ours. That is why we are so protective of him and his vision. Worship.❤
@snoozwriter "why we are so protective of him..." I think about this all the time. Vessel has created a legion of "mama bears"/guardians with the vulnerability he shares with us. I'd fight a mf who came after him 🤷♀️🤣
I'm enjoying your reactions! If you want to watch a live version of Atlantic, pick one of the Teeth of God shows from this year (2024). Vessel plays piano live and the lighting is elite. Worship. 💗
A few things...*starts novel* 1. Your opening!!!! 🎉😂 2. Taylor is all of us... knowing Sleep Token is about to start..."I already have chills! Why?" Cuz you know it's gonna be transformative. 3. Like others have said, it really makes sense that this is waking up in the hospital after an attempt. The line you pointed out is one of my favorites. "I woke up surrounded, eyes like frozen planets, just orbiting the vacuum I am." To me this feels like guilt. He wakes up to the people who love him and are scared for him and he feels like a burden for it. A vacuum, sucking up all their time and focus and emotion. If you're in that position, I imagine you don't feel like you're worth all the fuss. It's the furthest thing from the truth though. 😢
I always felt like the line vacuum I am, meant like the vacuum of space, empty, meaning him, them standing all around him (orbiting), their eyes filled with tears ( eyes like frozen planets) staring at him and he just wishing he could be gone away from the pain hence feeling angry and frustrated ( sobbing as they turn to statues at the bedside, I'm trying not to crush into sand ). Heart wrenching song.
@map1978. oh wow, I've never picked up an "angry and frustrated" feeling in that verse. That's an interesting thought and I'm definitely going to listen for it next time! Heartwrenching indeed 🖤
Stoked to see you crack into this album. Everyone else is saying all the things to fill you in on the meaning, and im just as excited as everyone to see you take this next step on the journey - but just as a heads up, there are a few official music videos with this album id love to see you react to, namely "the love you want" and "fall for me". Also theres that line where he wakes up from his attempt, and everyone is staring at him at his bedside, and they just dont know how to help him "eyes loke frozen planets" his embarrassment and shame "trying not to crush into sand". That hits hard man. This album im a lot of ways is the metaphorical dark night of the soul that we entered at the end of bloodsport.
The song does correlate with the song rain from the 3rd album. Like most said it was an attempt on his life. Yet parts like the Atlantic are featured where he says in Rain - "And just like the rain you cast the dust into nothing, and wash out the salt from my hands." Salt being from the Atlantic. Anyway, there are lots of Easter eggs within the trilogy. Finding them is fun. I found one also in Dark Signs and Are You Really Okay. But I won't give away everything. The writing is so good though in this trilogy. Worship.
Taylor said Worship!!! One of us, one of us😜. This band is on a different level man. When I heard this song I didn’t really catch on to the lyrics meaning either. Once I found out what the song was about, I listened to it over and over again (“status at the bedside” is his family looking over him in the hospital bed)…hit me very hard to realize what I was listening to was a story about a failed suicide attempt and the imagery through the analogies of Vessels lyrics. Now every time I hear this song it makes me a little emotional like most of their absolutely amazing songs. Worship!
Flood me like Atlantic - iv fluid is sea water. "Earn your bitter fodder" not father. The therapists / DR's always say " they know they cant understand the pain your going through.
This is one of my favourites and really reminds me of a friend who tried to take her own life. Thankfully she failed and thankfully Vessel failed too! ❤
Hoo-wee! Taylor, you're in for a ride, that true! Bring tissues, cake and a big cup of tea because you'll need them (especially the tissues, although not all their songs are teat-inducing). And unknowingly already ready to worship? Yep, you're ready, for sure! ❣Worship❣
Enough people have given you the meaning behind the lyrics so there's no need for me to add anything, except to say that I enjoyed your reactions and I think you are going to love this album! Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
A pain they know they don't understand....a pain so big that it drives to the edge...wanting the “end everything” Blue lights over murder....blue lights from an ambulance. It's the one song that most fans agree about its meaning. Most believe that it's about a failed attempt to end his life. This song makes me weep btw. But I really like it.
Per the norm with ST they don't just spell anything nice and easy so I have an alternative theory regarding the song. It's my own opinion and a few others, that there is enough evidence here for me to imply that a child was involved and lost, possibly in the water and possibly by his hands (unintentionally like a car crash or something) it's slightly hinted at in other songs and album art of a statue carrying a child and her never bearing the weight of two and such. The first verse is very cryptic but the line regarding "crumble like a temple, built on future duaghters" to me implying that she was pregnant and lost the child, causing lots of personal destruction. But he for sure woke up in a hospital bed. Could be hella wrong so give it a few listens and see what makes the most sense to you
I'VE BEEN WAITING 😢🥹 oooh I hope the lyric video is correct. I'm jumping ahead of myself, but the lyrics are "Merry in the morning, earn your bitter fodder; it's easier to try not to eat." Vessel is saying “wake up happy in the morning to earn a life you don’t deserve/want” then he goes on saying “it’s easier to try not to eat” which can be interpreted that it’s easier to give up on life than swallow your own bitter existence. *This song is believed to be about a failed su*c*de attempt.
Besides the meaning (since you have like 100 comments of that already) I want to clarify the analogies. I’m pretty sure that feeling-wise he’s describing himself as the empty space that the Atlantic Ocean rests in. The “Flood me like Atlantic. Bandage up the trenches.” Can be taken to either mean “Fill in the space where there was nothing” like to fill in that space with the Atlantic Ocean, or to “Coverup my physical scars” as the Atlantic Ocean makes it so any underwater trenches cannot be seen from the surface. The planet one is self-explanatory. He is a black hole surrounded by planets, or in real life, he is in a hospital bed surrounded by concerned people who do not understand what he’s going through. The “I’m trying not to crush into sand” is likely denoting the feeling of not wanting to be there. And that he feels like he’s going to fall apart if they keep talking and staring.
I feel like you say less when Taylor is around. Lol or maybe it's just this song that confuses you (and a lot of listeners) a lot 😂 btw, i think she KNOWSSS lol. Her eyes says she knows. Worship 😂 I love the background sounds of this song..like starting 3:53, where we hear the rain/static sound.. And in 6:59 with the panning of oohs and ahhs And in 7:09 with the bass drop, u juz feel it in your belly And in 7:37 with the high scream which gets smothered by the band Lol the words always confused and continue to confuse me too, so i tend to listen to the background stuff going on when i listen to this song and just allow them to wash me in their music 😂 And oh, cool intro.. what were the typewritten stuff? Was that what ST nerds were talking about, the coordinates thing for each TPWBYT song? Just a request, if it doesn't complicate things too much, could you maybe add some audio at the start too? Like maybe an instrumental of something, juz coz i thought i had my volume down coz i wasn't hearing anything, and brought it way up to max, and thought my device was broken coz i still wasn't hearing anything lol. Maybe I'm the weird one, but yea if you could add some sounds at the intro, would be awesome 👍
Super confused! I talk more around her trust me haha. She doesn't know lol, I explained afterwards. I'll add sound. Yes those are coordinates haha. I really like this song and all of those extra 'background' noises. It's even better now knowing what it means!
@@CasualReactions hahahaha ohhh if you liked this one, you're gonna love the rest of the album or so i say 😂 thanks for always accommodating viewer requests 😁
@@CasualReactions yup it does. Was referring to the first 10 seconds lol. But i don't see anyone else complaining abt it, maybe i just needed some time to get used to the longer silence. Don't mind me 😁 the important thing isss, we're in the water album 🖤
